Penalties

In games I sim, there are far too many penalties called. My team alone takes around 4-5 penalties per period. Is there a way I can fix this?
Historical Mode 2005 if it matters

Are you playing one (or two) of the more physical tactics? That can increase the aggressiveness of your players significantly.

That first season after the lockout had one of the highest powerplays per game numbers in NHL history. Just saying...

Ah, right, the obstruction crackdown. Penalties are adjusted to the real levels in historical mode, so that's definitely contributing to it.

Does roles like agressive forecheching increase penatlies?

My team are takin A LOT of penalties, playing "The Funnel" and "2-3 system".

Please let me know.

Depending on the roles and tactics you choose, Penalties can be effected.
