Replay 1977 defensive ratings?

Hi -
I am trying to replay 1977.
Did standard settings with no minors which would seem to give the most exact stats.
Playing Cincy since i know that team inside and out.
Def Ratings:
Foster: 80 check
Geronimo: 56 (i dont understand) Range 71, Err 84 Arm 61 how is he a 56. he was GG for the year
Griffey: 70
Rose: 21 I don't understant
Concepcion: 97 Check
Morgan: 50 i dont understand, he is GG in 77
Driessen 46

Any ideas?

Any ideas?

Geronimo was, per FanGraphs, a -5 fielder from 1976-1978
Rose was -20 runs in that time
Morgan was -24
Driessen +2

None of these guys were good fielders during that time

I'm not sure why Geronimo's overall rating would be lower than any or the three ratings that make up the overall rating

Experience - would be one reason

I don't think that is the reason. Geronimo in 77 has 200 experience
I see the same issue with Amos Otis 1977
Range 61
Error 80
Arm 42

CF RATING 36
If you go into EDITOR Experience is 200
Resulting Rating 71

Not sure if it is scouting issue??

FYI - so i noticed that the RATINGS for 1 season historical replay CHANGE during the season (1977)
I wasn't expecting that.
1-100 default best replay settings.
So for instance Freddie Patek starts as SS 33 but finished season as 25 (and on another replay finished at 5)
Amos Otis went from CF 36 at start and finished at 76

Gold Glovers
Cesar Geronimo finished CF at 45
Joe Morgan finished 2b at 18

FWIW After 10 replays of no tweaking TEXAS wins the west every time
