MLB Top Player Batting Game Performance

Only 1 month in and there has already been several nice batting performances. St. Louis Cardinals slugger Billy Gilbert is currently leading the way with an outstanding Game Score of 100. Mike Grady (3rd and 25th), John McGraw (9th and 13th), and Bill Keister (4th and 18th) each have two spots on the Top-25 list.

MLB Top Player Pitching Game Performance

Well, there should be no question who the best pitcher in MLB is right now. Rube Waddell has the top 2 spots on the Game Performance list (both games with 88 Game Score), he also has the 18th top spot for the month. Boston ace Noodles Hahn also has 3 spots on the Top-25 list, with a 4th, 12th, and 23rd finish.

				Boston Americans - Manager Screen

It has been a fun first month leading the Boston Americans. While I am happy with where the team sits right now, I must always be on the lookout for ways to improve things. My pitching staff is firmly anchored by Noodles Hahn and Jesse Tannehill. At the plate, Fred Clarke not only is leading the team he has the top batting average (.439) in MLB.

Games 27 - 29: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Americans

What a nice way to end the month of April and start May with a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox by the hometown Boston Americans. In each game, Chicago jumped out to an early lead only to have Boston come back to take the game -- nice to see the team not giving up when down. Game 27: Riding on the arm of team ace Noodles Hahn, the Boston Americans (17-10) topped the Chicago White Sox (14-13) by a score of 8 to 3. Hahn (5-3) went the distance, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 4 to finish with a Game Score of 64. White Sox pitcher Bill Carrick (2-6) took the loss by allowing 8 runs (2 earned) on 14 hits to finish with a Game Score of 29. The Boston hit-attack was led by Frank Chance (3 for 4, Double, 1 Run, 1 Walk), Fred Clarke (2 for 4, 3 Runs, 1 Walk, 1 SB, and league leading .442 batting average), and Noodles Hahn (3 for 3). Player of the Game: Noodles Hahn (Season: #5 / Career: #5) Game 28: Not the best game that Jesse Tannehill has ever pitched, but it was good enough to give Boston (18-10) a 6 to 3 win over the White Sox (14-14). In going the distance, Tannehill (5-2) allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 11 hits while striking out 7 to finish with a Game Score of 62. Chicago pitcher Jim Sullivan (4-2) took the loss, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) on 11 hits and 1 walk to finish with a Game Score of 38. Boston second baseman John Farrell had a nice day at the plate, going 2 for 3 (2 runs and 1 walk), while Tannehill helped his cause by smashing a solo-shot in the 3rd inning. In the losing cause, Mike Grady (4 for 4) and John Anderson (2 for 4, Double and Triple) provided some offensive punch. Player of the Game: Jesse Tannehill (Season: #5 / Career: #5) Game 29: Despite setting an American League mark by allowing 8 walks, Boston (19-10) starter Fred Klobedanz (6-1) somehow kept Chicago (14-15) in check to pull out the 5 to 3 victory. Klobedanz gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and 8 walks to finish with a Game Score of 54. The star of the day was Boston shortstop Kid Elberfeld whose 3 for 4 (3 RBIs and 1 Run) effort propelled the hometown team to victory. White Sox centerfielder Billy Hoy tried his best to help his team, smashing 2 Doubles on the way to a 3 for 5 (2 RBIs) day. Player of the Game: Kid Elberfield (Season: #2 / Career: #2)
