I think this is really asking that the AI play day-to-day players less often...or that the % of day-to-day players is more dynamic (i.e. how the injury affects them potentially decreases over time).

I've had it happen where I played a player sparingly with a DTD with a healed date and it turned into unknown return.

And yet the player often continues to play, which I've always assumed is a bug. If he's DtD that's one thing, but uncertain return date implies he is out of action.

I'm looking for something that will eliminate the need to rely on "high fatigue" to keep players from playing too many games over the course of their OOTP careers. High fatigue works, but knowing from day one of each season that there won't be a single player that starts 154 or 162 games in a season kind of blows. Plus, using high fatigue means some of the old workhorse catchers will never come close to their real life numbers. Saying a player has a bruised knee and the effect on his hitting will be minimal over two weeks is fine, but why not have it be more than minimal if the player isn't given adequate rest? Why not have the bruise require 3 days rest(off days can count) and then have a minimal effect? All the time when watching baseball you will see a guy leave a game due to an injury. The next day you will tune in and learn that the injury is not severe, but will keep him out of the lineup for a day or two. You will often hear that the manager is hoping with a few days off, the player will not need a to go on the IL. This is what I would like to see in OOTP.

An injury prone guy doesn't have to miss playing time due to severe injuries that keep him off the team for amonth, or months or an entire season, he can be a guy that just constantly gets banged up.... Ole Aches and Pains comes to mind.

Right, so an update to the Day-to-Day injury system essentially.

I agree that could/should be improved.

I would love to see a "training staff" feature where you get constant feedback from them on the day-to-day type injuries (i.e. some days they should feel better than others) as well as regular updates on "Out" guys and how their progress is going.

Not sure what the problem is there, DW? Happens all the time IRL. It's what "precautionary measures" are all about.

I would bet my house that in real life he is probably sitting the next day as well for exactly what you said, "precautionary measures." I feel day to day injuries should at times lead to a player missing a game or two. IRL players sit all the time due to day to day injuries. There should be times the player returns to the lineup the next day, but I feel there should also be times that the player has to rest for a few days, before he's ready to play again. I think this would make short term injuries more realistic. Maybe if this was a card and dice game and I could actually see what "minimal" or "moderate" represents, I would feel differently. We do know the AI doesn't feel the effects are enough to require the player to be removed from the lineup. How many times have you watched a game and heard the announcer say ____________ isn't in the lineup today due to __________ , but we've been told he may be available to pinch hit as early as tomorrow? ____________ isn't in the lineup today as he nurses a sore calf, Bob Toffeebar his manager is hoping a trip to the IL won't be required? I'm in a silly AL only fantasy league and over the course of a season dealing with day to day injuries seems like a never ending task.

Just looking for a future without having to use the high fatigue as a crutch.

Okay this is good news. I switched my game over to "delayed injury diagnosis." I just played a game this morning between the Yankees and Blue Jays. The Blue Jay's Pinky Swander was forced to leave the game due to a injury. The diagnosis was pending. The next game he was unavailable to the Jay's AI manager as his injury was being diagnosed. Turns out to be a bruised thigh and he is day to day for one more day. So, delayed diagnosis will be on from now on in my leagues.
