Hello Guys!

I am playing with Arizona and just finished my draft(First Overall so I drafted Connor Bedard)

The problem that I have is just after the draft I cant sign any other player because of my budget.

I had to choose minimum budget in order to get even, The budget is 61m and the floor is 61.

However, my current salary is 62M and the budget for new signing is -4m.


Technically there's nothing I can do and I am stuck.

Any ideas or suggestion to avoid this?

are you able to revert to a save on/before July 1st ? Maybe try restoring the files from the saved_games\<save folder>\rs_two folder ?


i think you can reset the budgets on July 1

Go to team edit and you can change the budget there at any time

I think we may need to have a look at how the minimum on the annual finances page is being set relative to the floor, it shouldn't be that close. But the simplest fix for now is probably just doing what redtiger said, go into commissioner mode and increase your budget a bit.

Yeah I've had the same issue with all custom import leagues. My player budget is at $110,00, I can't see any way to change it and I literally cannot sign or draft ANY players at all. I tried again, this time starting at July 1, going into commissioner mode, I can see the $100K TOTAL player budgets for each team but can not change them. I take over a team and then I get a screen about increasing budgets by using points which doesn't work, then I get a welcome message saying I have a budget of $110,000 to field the entire team.

I don't want to mess with budgets, I just want to draft some players, watch the games and have my assistants do the rest, I don't want to have to fuss with budgets. That's why I say that the main problem with this game is that it's TOO realistic. Unless you're a real-life-experienced GM you have absolutely no shot. The confusing and complex menu systems, having to jump through hoops just to get enough $ to sign ONE player is exacerbating. If I'm doing something massively wrong I wish someone would either fix the bug or tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've been up and down the menus, through the help files and I have found nothing. I have asked about it both here and in Steam Community and have gotten completely ignored. I'm at my wits end with this game.

Okay but how do you do that? Do you mean the team budget, league budget, monthly, annual? Where do I go to do this? I've gone into commissioner mode, I see a list of teams with their $100K player budgets but there's nothing there to change it. I go into team finances and there's this stuff about increasing budget for points but I have to I guess spend 300 "points" to increase the budget but only have 110 I have no idea what that means. Guys I don't mean to be a pain but my frustration with this issue and this game cannot be overstated. This game is way too complex and convoluted, overcomplicated and underdocumented. I'm not an experienced NHL GM, just a casual hockey fan, I just want to draft a few players, watch some games and let the AI do the rest. This is terribly confusing and I can't get any answers.

This is all I can find in the online manual: "The annual financial settings can only be changed on July 1 (they're frozen as soon as the game is advanced a day.) Unlike the monthly settings, these are not retained from the previous year."

That's it? Okay, HOW do I change the budget? I've been up and down and through the menus, posted multiple questions about this and have gotten completely ignored for months and absolutely fit to be tied at this point.

Great, can you please show me? There are absolutely NO instructions in game or in the online manual to show you how to do that and even if that was, why can't I just have AI manage the budget I really don't want to have to mess around with these things.

EDIT: Finally after about an hour of searching through the game menus I found the edit team and changed the budget. But there are still two problems:
1. Why do I even have to do this and how do I know what to set it? I mean I can just set the budget to $50 billion, right, what's stopping that?
2. It's not just my team. Other teams are still going to have low budgets and did not select anyone in the creation draft. I fast-forwarded to start of season and now teams have somehow raised their budgets and have rosters but all inferior free agents. So is this $100K budget the norm? Do I now have to go into commissioner mode and set them for all teams, and am I going to have to do this every time I start a custom league?
