Gary Carter 1974

Nothing unusual about a Topps Vault image of Carter, especially on what appears to be "upload star players day" - except his unusual uniform number (57), which dates this photo to his first major league days in 1974:

Similarly - Greg Luzinski as number 42? Not 19?

Hector Torres 1968

This is from the original photo used on his 1976 SSPC card. The image thus dates to the 1975 season:

Willie McGee was drafted by the Yankees in the first round of the January 1977 draft. Didn't break through until the Yanks traded him to the Cardinals prior to the '82 season.

Given the black armband, I'd guess this image is from 1980 (Thurman Munson) or 1981 (Elston Howard). If there were differences in the armbands between the years, as a Mets fan, I'm unaware of them.

Actually, THAT armband is for the trade the Yankees would shortly make giving away McGee to the Cardinals for Bob Sykes.

The only record of McGee being in camp with the Yanks dates to 1981.

Dan Morogiello 1983

Also in today's TV upload - some very nice images of this one-season Orioles hurler whose minor league images from the Braves' system are among the most frequently photo-shopped ones by Baltimore fans.

Not that I have a clue, but...

Pro: left-handed and kind of looks like him

Con: The Royals didn't wear anything approaching this uni when JD was with them and, in the folder, he's sitting right between Morogiello and Morlan. Now, the latter point I take with a grain of salt as the Vault can shift alphabetical focus on a whim. But I'm having a hard time accounting for the uni (which the Royals stopped wearing in '82, while Gleaton joined them in '87).

Any chance it's the all-to-rare Paschall?

Mike Morley

The Royals' pitcher shown above is Mike Morley, who was in the Kansas City system from 1977-81, and in camp on their roster in 1980 and 1981.

Attached is a photo of him from his high school days. It's tough to see, but it's an all-points match.

I don't have any records of his ever appearing on spring training rosters.

Darn it! Merkle beat me to it! There's also a modern day photo online that is even sharper.
