Mickey Vernon 1960
Continuing our survey of Vernon's coaching postings (he's an Expo in the Coaches' Pack, and his Yankee and Cardinal stints were posted upthread), here's Mickey wearing Dodger blue, at Beautiful Shea Stadium in 1975.
The watermark and signature issues are unfortunate, but at least the upstroke on the "V" looks a bit like it's part of the collar line in the headshots. (Or am I just kidding myself?) Enjoy. |

Charlie Metro 1962
Metro is pictured in the Coaches' Pack as one of the Chicago Cubs' "College of Coaches" for 1962. (He also served as "Head Coach", or manager, for part of that season.)

Dick Carter 1959
Carter was a coach for the Phillies in 1959 and at the beginning of 1960, resigning in late May due to poor health. His picture in the Coaches Pack is a "floating head" shot cut from a Topps card, but I found something a bit better:
Presumably from Spring Training, 1959 (Eddie Sawyer had replaced Mayo Smith as the Phils' manager during the 1958 season, and finished the season with Smith's coaches, then brought in a whole new crew for 1959) although Carter looks somewhat unwell, so perhaps it's 1960, after all. |
