Pete Filson White Sox 1986

Pete Filson was a left-hander, a Yankees draft pick who went to the Twins in '82 as part of the deal for Butch Wynegar. Filson had a couple of middling good years for the Twinkies as a left handed long man and spot starter, but when he pitched poorly early in '86 Minnesota traded him to the White Sox, for whom he pitched even worse (7.83 ERA in 11 and something innings). Pete went back to the Yankees briefly in '87 and wrapped up his career with the 1990 Royals, posting career statistics which hovered right around replacement level. Filson's time with the White Sox was so short that pictures of him in the Sox '82 Killer Bee kit have so far been unobtainable. Well, the Fritsch Cards people are now offering a postcard of Filson with the Chisox.

And another one bites the dust....

Fritz Knothe 1932 UIN Phillies

This is the closest thing I've found to a Knothe/Phillies image. Here he is (far right), immediately post-trade, wearing a Braves hat and holding a Phillies uniform. The others in the photo are Wes Schulmerich, Hal Lee and Pinky Whitney.

I found an article in the July 23, 1910 edition of the Illinois State Register, which quoted an article from the St. Louis Times about Joe Bernard. The Times sometimes included a photo of the player when highlighting a player from the St. Louis Trolley leagues. Bernard was pitching for the Hyde Parks at the time.

The Times is not available online, but it is on microfilm at the St. Louis Public Library downtown. I was able to spend a short time skimming the paper trying to find the original article to see if there was a picture with it, and I didn't find it at all. I'll look again when I get a chance.

He was also an officer at the Illini Country Club. They may have a photo of him from his term there.

Just some places to look. No photo found yet.

My figuring is that I (or anyone) could search the file for a particular player then take the info and find the appropriate file of John's or Rico's or directly from the TV Images.

I do reiterate that this is a LARGE document (four columns, 42 pages). I would not go printing it if I were you...

Greetings all, after asking around with a few fantastic members of this forum, I am posting this unassuming request:

By chance might anyone have a player index as tied to the released Topps Vault Football images that they can share? I realize the time and effort it probably took to accumulate over time, however if you might be willing to assist I will be greatly appreciative as part of this group's tremendously strong collaborative spirit. Feel free to message me as well and thanks in advance!

I found a Spring Training photo of Clark in the 3/11/1948 edition of The Evening Star. He appeared in 9 games late in the 1948 season for Washington.

Correct, as Rico43/Homefree had shared a link to a different website that had identified most all of the Vault baseball images. It has continued to serve as a tremendous asset. I was hoping the same exists in some format for football & that someone might share. Thanks again!

Bob Sebra Phillies, 88-89

Found this image of Sebra in the 1989 Phillies Team photo - to my knowledge no other pic of him has surfaced with the Phils (there is a photoshopped job out there courtesy of Chachi).

By the way - can anyone tell me why the Phils of that era typically took their photos bareheaded?

Al Epperly 1938 UIN Dodgers

1950 Dodgers, shown in a small player panel from The Sporting News.

EDITED TO NOTE: Per Merkle, below, this is a manipulated photo, not an actual Dodgers image. Epperly/Dodgers remains on the UIN list.

I found a nice photo of Frierson with the Cleveland Indians. He was pictured in the 9/12/1941 edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

Epperly

Seems to me that's obviously altered - neck piping and a "thick" B on a 1950 Brooklyn uniform?

Isn't that just this photo that Baseball-Reference uses as his thumbnail?
