The St. Louis River Walkers have acquired 30-year-old relief pitcher Nick Strother from the Toledo Mud Hens in exchange for 27-year-old right-hander Kyle Smarr.
Strother has spent the past four seasons as the closer for Toledo. He recorded a career-high 40 saves in 2031.
Last season, Strother got into 64 games and went 8-6 with 29 saves and a 3.00 ERA. He blew eight saves.
Going to Toledo will be right-hander Kyle Smarr.
Smarr made nine starts in the majors for the Walkers in 2034, going 4-4 with a 4.85 ERA.
Smarr went 6-6 for AAA Memphis, posting a 3.81 ERA.

The St. Louis River Walkers have completed a trade with the Toledo Mud Hens, which would land them 30-year-old pitcher Edward Kunselman in exchange for 19-year-old pitcher Josh Rochford.
Kunselman spent the 2034 season in the Toledo rotation, going 6-13 in 26 starts with a 4.81 ERA.
For his career, Kunselman is 29-27 with two saves and a 4.44 ERA in 219 games.
Rochford, a sixth-round pick in the 2033 draft, spent the 2034 in the Gulf Coast League where he was 2-2 in 11 starts with a 7.51ERA.

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of 32-year-old catcher Jackson Miller to a four-year contract.
The contract is worth $18 million per season, although the final season does include a team option.
Miller, an eight-time All-Star, spent last season and his entire career with Des Moines where he hit .280 with 12 homers and 77 RBIs.
Miller broke into the majors in 2024, and became a starter in 2025.
Overall, he has hit .280 for his career with 151 homers and 617 RBIs.

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of shortstop Aaron Nixon to a two-year contract worth $33 million.
The second season of the deal includes a team option.
Miller, 33, spent last season with Des Moines where he hit .297 in 148 games with 12 homers and 54 RBIs.
Before that, he spent one season in Columbus and six in Chicago.
For his career, he is a .273 hitter with 66 homers and 370 RBIs.

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced a trade which will send right-handed relief pitcher Justin O'Rourke and right-handed prospect Alejandro Chacon to Ann Arbor in exchange for right-handed starting pitcher Josh McDonald.
McDonald, 28, has been part of the Wolf Pack's starting rotation since 2030.
During that time, he has gone 41-53 in 147 games (135 starts) with a 4.17 ERA.
In the 2034 season, McDonald went 7-13 in 33 starts with a 4.74 ERA.
St. Louis acquired O'Rourke from Cincinnati during July.
The 33-year-old got into 26 games, going 2-1 with a two saves and a 4.88 ERA.
At Cincinnati, O'Rourke had gone 3- with four saves and a 4.10 ERA in 45 games.
Chacon, 22, split time between Class A Peoria and high-A Palm Beach in 2034.
A scouting discovery, Chaco went 4-12 with a 4.60 ERA in Peoria.
At Palm Beach, he was 2-1 with a 1.33 ERA in six starts.
