Online league simulation process?

Hi folks...

This is my first post, and OOTP 17 will be my first taste of this game outside of the 2016 demo, which I've been having fun with for the past few weeks to familiarize myself.

My friend and I are preordered and ready to start up an online league together and my question is how does the game proceed with both players needing to simulate/advance? Does all progress require both people to be online? Or can you complete a chunk of time and wait for the other player to reach the same level/date?

Thanks in advance...really looking forward to sinking my teeth into this! Have the rest of the week off work after March 22nd ..worked out perfectly!

I've also been wondering how this works since I started playing, about two years ago. Looking forward to reading the responses

I could be wrong and perhaps they've changed it... but the way it used to work was one person was the "Commish" and all the others were just "GMs". The commish is responsible for simming the days only.

Depending on how you want to do your schedule, you can sim one day at a time, one week at a time.. etc.

Once you've stopped simming, you export the league file. The "GMs" open up the game and "Import" the league file. This now makes the GMs current date the same as the Commissioners. They make changes to their lineups.. etc. Once done, they "Export" the league file.

The Commissioner now has to "Import" the GMs exported files. The commish now has all the changes in his game that the GMs made. He can now start simming again.

Rinse and repeat.
