I import real player photos, but SOME don't show up

I downloaded a wonderful package of historical player photos (not sure whose it was; did it weeks ago).
After importing these photos when setting up my replay seasons (1969,1927 and 2016), I've noticed that SOME (not all) players still have their (mostly incorrect) facegen pics when I play a game, or view the players on a roster.
For instance: Ernie Banks' facegen (a caucasian with a soul patch...really? who thought THAT was correct?) incorrectly shows up, even though I've previously imported the historic photo file for him on the Cubs 1969 roster. Once I import his photo, it shows up properly. I've saved the game/season. Next time I open it up: boom: his incorrect facegen file shows up again. SO I go through process, etc etc...and it's fixed.
This has happened with quite a few players, Banks and Pete Rose Sr. (I love the "Sr."),as two examples. Rose, after having his pic show up properly, has reverted back to his facegen (why do SO MANY facegens have incorrect beards or soul patches...it's wierd...same thing happened to me for '27 replay. People did NOT have beards back then...why does almost every single facegen for '27, if left untouched, have a beard or 'stache?). I re-import Rose's photo; it stays through a couple of '69 sim weeks and then (since he's among my 69 batting LLs), all of a sudden, its gone again replaced with an awful bearded facegen.
I havent seen this particular thing happening online w/ anyone else (unless I missed a post regarding it).
Is this a bug? Why would the photos dissapear randomly even after I've gone through importing them,time after time? And not for all players...just a bunch.
