Player Classes - Team Captain

First year user. Love the game.

Using real MLB teams started in the 2018 season. My team captain for the White Sox was Matt Davidson. Of course he is terrible so moved on from him in the offseason. Now I haven't had a team captain since him. Only a couple leaders. I'm in the 2020 season now.

Spark plug and prankster none as well but it seems bad to not have a captain for this many years. Can one be assigned? Or how does that work. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Team captain isn't an official position. It is a personality type, so you just haven't had that type of person.

You can acquire a captain by going into free agency and searching by personality.

think of class label or type like you look at the 'overall' rating.

captain has to meet certain requirements... but if oyu have a team that's lacking selfish malcontents and you have some guys with leadership and some guys with a desire to win etc etc and generallyl good work ethics and intelligence... it won't matter whether you ahve a "captain" or not.

long story short: just worry about hte individual personality ratings and not the overall as much. never let that trump high-quality talent, either.

go make a team with all 100/200 ratings realted to baseball and 200/200 raitngs for personality.. then make them play a team that's just 150/200 ratings and 1/200 personality... i'll bet all the money in the world the malcontents wipe the floor with the Eagle Scout team, lol.

that' would be a good expirement to see where the break-even is... unfortunately i don't think the team matchup thing would crunch team chemistry like it would in a regular season.. so you'd have to make a 2team league with X number of games..

i bet 100 vs ~105 might be break even - pure gugess? in other words a small-potatoes effect. and it would depend on how things went initially and whether they dug a hole to start and got all upset etc... if things start out well with a win steak for the malcontents, they won't have the backlash from negative effects. based on slightly better ratings, they will win slightly more games over time -- any variance from that can be assumed to be personality related (with large enough sample size and no injuries and development turned off)

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I noticed in this process under game settings, sub tab players/facegen that "show player personality ratings in player profile" was turned OFF. So I checked that box ON and now I see the high and low traits plus player class.

I already traded one player with issues of greed, work ethic and loyalty and got an email from the players that they are glad he is off the team. Crazy how one bad apple can lower team morale. Admittedly, he is a very good, young talent at fringe AAA and major league spot starting pitcher (one that I have good depth in) but at least got a basket of prospects with good work ethic maybe one will work out!

Thanks again, this game rules.

remember, you can always have a couple 'bad apples' on a strong team -- wins as well as sorrounded with better personalities.

an email complaining doesn't mean the world is ending at all. chemistry will improve in a winning enviroment unless you are teeming with malcontents.

never let personality trump talent, although if oyu got a boatload in return, that can be as good or better of course.
