Issue with save - Jim Unknown

I've just loaded my saved game and everybody in the database is showing up with the name Jim Unknown. As far as I can tell everything else is fine but I'm guessing this isn't a fixable bug without a recent backup? Edit: It appears all contracts, budgets etc have been set to 0 also. Players still have term left but cap hits don't exist for anyone.

For some reason any games I start now don't have rolling save files. Is this anyway other than physically backing up the save folder to protect against saves corrupting? It's driving me insane that everytime I get a few years into a save it corrupts and I lose everything.

If it was just the names, replacing the save's names.dat file with one from a new game might fix it, but if the contract data is gone as well, there's probably too much corruption to repair.

On the start screen, go to Settings, then Misc. The on/off option for Rolling Saves is there. If it's on and you're still not getting them, then something may be wrong with the installation - if that's the case, try reinstalling if you're using the standalone version, or Properties-Local Files-Verify Integrity of Game Cache if you're on Steam.

Thanks replacing the names file seems to work. With the contracts it appears the game is playable without them although I can’t offer any contracts to any free agents because it’s above my budget - is this something I can try and continue through if I edit all teams budgets etc or will I get to a point that I can’t get any further? Currently anything to do with finances is 0 - all contracts, budgets, staff budgets, salary caps etc.

It's worth a try, but it may take a season or two for all of the finances to get back to a normal level (unless you're in historical mode or custom with historical finances on, in those cases it'll all get reset on July 1.)
