2D versus 3D Stadium Mods
The answer here may be obvious; but let me ask, just in case I’m missing something. For game flow and analysis reasons (need the pitch location diagram), I prefer playing in Classic 2D mode. (Forgive me, the 3D models are gorgeous; but I don’t have a need to see the tiny players moving about on the field.). But, I want to [1] have historically accurate stadiums as backdrops for historical replays; and [2] I would like to create new stadiums to use in 2D; not 3D. What are my options? Can I possibly import photos of classic stadiums and use them?
I ask because it does not appear I can build stadiums in 2D, and it does not look like those wizards who design stadiums do them in 2D, sadly. Also, not sure if the stadium dimensions in the model transfer to the stadium attributes that affect game play. (If I move the LF fence in fifteen feet, or reduce it from 25 feet to 10 feet in height in my model, will this be reflected in the batting average, XBH and HR for the stadium?) |

First ball park factors determine the hitting environment of a stadium dimensions are only used in the pbp. If you want to move a fence in and see an increase in HR you will have to increase the ballpark HR modifier. Though I do think there is an option to have OOTP set modifiers based on dimensions but I don't believe that takes into account how that affects league wide stats? All parks combined should have a net 0 effect. Increasing or decreasing one park moves the league off of net zero.
If you import the historical stadium pack you will be getting the park factors for all of those stadiums (those determine the stat output), the 3d models(I know you don't need them), and a day and night 2d screenshot of the fields. These can be used in the 2d game or you could replace those with actual photos of the stadiums (the way OOTP worked before 3d ).They reside in the Ballpark folder. In STEAM pc version that isC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Out of the Park Baseball 22\data\ballparks FWIW I haven't done this in many versions but can't see why it wouldn't work. So yeah, make a backup of you Ballpark folder before making any changes jut in case. As far as the pitch location box it is also available in the 3d views, both modern and classic. |

Grateful
Sweed many thanks for all your help. Now I can play a bit more in 3D with pitch location, and import parks knowing I will have 2D versions. Best of both worlds! And I have no issue with adjusting the park dimensions and letting OOTP calculate the resulting factors.
I even designed a decent-looking 3D field for the Hilton Head Loggerheads in the Atlantic League, with 7,000 capacity and lots of palmettos beyond the OF fences. Where in Iowa? I have ridden my bike across your lovely state seven times. |

Ah, a ragbrai rider. I like my bike but not enough to ride across the state. More power to those that do
