Salary Cap Question/Confusion
Hey guys, loving the new game, but I do have a question. I am in July of 2023 with the Rangers. It says "team salary cap" is $90,750,000. Does that mean that's the league salary cap for the upcoming 2023-24 season? It says "salary cap space" is $16,969,351 but then says "salary cap space next season" to be $675,125. I would like to know which one it is so I can budget signings. Thanks for the help.

It's your owner's budget, which is based on the Normal setting in the Annual Finances on July 1. You can increase that at the cost of some points or decrease it to save points on July 1. What you really need to look at is Money available for Free Agents and Money available for Extensions, when it comes to signing players. The Salary Cap Space is for current season and the Salary Cap for next season is what you'd have after your current resignings.

The $90.75m amount is with the 10% off season cushion that allows you to make signings (if your owner's budget allows it) above the normal $82.5m cap before the season starts - but you still need to be under 82.5 by that point. It just gives you some flexibility to e.g. sign an expensive player and then make cap room for him afterwards by dumping some salary elsewhere in the following weeks.
