How do I send players to the AFL and that other mid season league. Any help would be nice.

I think the other midseason league is for draft eligible players only.
As for the AFL... yeah I'd like to know that, too.

Just completed my 1st season as GM-Manager of the Chicago White Sox [insert masochist joke here]. After signing many 'B' free agents [Tony Kemp, Mike Taylor, Nick Gordon, etc.], got them to finish 74-88. [33 game improvement]. Was looking forward to sending some promising candidates to the AFL, but lo and behold, you don't get to pick em. There are 6 teams listed, with 30 man rosters, and one of my six players that was picked is injured for 9 more weeks. Wish you could pick your own to send.

So there are 6 teams with 30 man rosters. From the 30 MLB teams, each team will send 6 players.

It would be a nice feature to pick your own to send.

The OOTP wiki seems to have a work-around you can use to get your choice of players on the team.
https://wiki.ootpdevelopments.com/in...urnaments_team Note: I have not tried this personally. |

Thank you. I'm currently in the off season, but will remember to try this next year.

Fall League Management
I found out that if you go to "Available Jobs" under the Manager menu at the top of the screen, you can accept a "Tournament Job" along with your normal role, and it won't affect your normal job, just gives you the option to also manage an AFL team!

Don’t have the game in front of me, so I might explain slightly incorrectly, but you can do it without being in commissioner mode or assigning yourself as manager, but it’s not at all intuitive. To pick your players, you’ll have to go to the AFL home page and bring up the list of AFL players from the drop down list, then one of the tabs should be “show eligible players”. Once you bring that up, I usually set the filter to organization short and put in my three letter team code to list just my players. There should be plus buttons to the left of each player and clicking that plus button will assign that player to the AFL, otherwise the AI will select for you. If it doesn’t let you assign a player or no players get assigned automatically, go into the settings to make sure your team is affiliated with an AFL team and if not assign one.

Oh, and some additional things of note…
1) The WIKI notes that playing in a fall league doesn’t age a player faster, which is true in the sense that it won’t affect when they hit that veteran decline later, but players can get injured in development leagues. Lengthy injuries can derail a top prospect’s development and depending on their age you risk an injury that could keep that player from reaching their peak development. Generally I don’t send a top prospect unless they’re Durable or better or aging prospects that are in danger of never reaching their potential. 2) If you plan on sending a player to the development lab, you can send them to a development league too, but I advise against sending players to a fall league if you plan on giving them a lab task… an injury (including a day to day injury) stops progress in the lab. If a player gets hurt after the date you can prematurely end the lab task, they’re stuck and won’t progress and fail, causing the player’s stat to tank and basically wasting the lab slot. I really wish players that were on track in the lab would just get pulled with no changes if they get hurt. |
