Independent League Purchasing Players
I'm hopeful for more of a clarification than anything else, but in terms of Indepedent league players will their contracts be purchaseable, will we trade for them or grab them in free agency? How will the process take place?
I've been doing research on independent leagues and it seems as if in the actual process they are purchased, should we expect it to take place as such or are will it be using the posting system/free agency?

The ability to purchase players from other leagues was put in 15, and it works great, especially if you set it nice and low (I always do, because I want the most promising talent at the top level of whatever I'm doing.). I often will see "purchased by X" in a top players's history.
Purchasing players is a separate section from posting. In my experience, posting seems to be used very little, but purchasing is used often.

Yeah...posting isn't that great. Purchasing I notice works fine and in real life, the number is pretty low so..I don't set it higher than $50,000 because if it's at like 100,00 or 500k the computer almost never bites.
The game "purchases" the contract but in a real independent situation, the deal would be for less than the MLB minimum so it's not really a big deal when the game converts it to a minor league deal. It's more problematic when a major league is purchasing from another major league and the deal converts to a lesser one.

Just for clarification purposes cause I wasn't aware of this at all (thanks guys!) how does one set this up?
I'm very familiar wih league set up and the screens so if someone could just tell me where to locate the buy a player option and in addition simply explain how to make the league independent I would be extremely grateful.

What if I want to purchase a player from the Japanese leagues? I think that is pretty expensive?

So for instance I want my MLB teams (and I guess their minor league teams too?) to be able to purchase players from Independent leagues, but I don't want MLB teams buying from each other or from Japanese or other foreign league teams. (Maybe I do) The question basically comes down to can I make the purchasing of players league specific and restrictive towards others.

Unless I've overlooked something, it's impossible F/E for Cleveland to purchase the contract of a Boston player. You can trade cash for a player, but you can't purchase the contract. MLB teams and Nippon etc can't purchase contracts from each other. Nippon teams are able to purchase the contracts of Independent teams(from America, not sure if that happens IRL). No teams can purchase the contract of any Cuban player and Cuban teams can't purchase the contract of any Independent league player. If any of this is wrong Biff wrote it! Okay so it's based off the setting which allow purchasing or not. That is incredibly useful information to know I gratefully appreciate that.
