Acquire an All-Star
So one of my goal for the Cards in 2015 as the new GM was Acquire and All-Star.
Well before the season started I traded Peter Borjous for John Lester. John Lester went on to have a stellar year and was selected as an all-star. But the season is now over after my team could not get past LA and I got my update from the owner. But it says I did not Acquire an all-star. Am I missing something? |

I think the player has to be a all-star player already.

Similar case to yours, I acquired Billy Hamilton as my CF and my owner the next season asks me to "upgrade CF". I got around it by editing Hamilton's position as CF (for some reason the game lists him as SS even though he's primarily a CF and my manager uses him as a CF too)

Then it's not properly done. Even an owner knows that current all star players are not regularly traded. This is becoming more arcade like.

IF the player wasn't already an all star at the time of request then he wasn't an all-star player. So it still stands to logic. The player has to already have been an all-star.

To be clear, the All-Star player needs to have been an All-Star at some point in the past, even if he sucks now. For instance, I fulfilled that obligation by signing Andruw Jones for peanuts off the scrap heap. It doesn't have to be a reigning All-Star.

Well he traded for Lester... if he's playing 2015 Quick Start Lester is already a 3-time All Star so it should of fulfilled this goal...no?

Another thought... maybe its acquire an All Star THAT season after the All Star game commences? So mid July after all the game is completed, trade for one of those players that made the game? Just a thought...

Maybe it's a bug? I've seen it work the way I described it, but like you said, that should have included Lester, too.

I had a similar issue. My owner wanted me to upgrade 2B, but, Nick Franklin had a crazy good year. .360 obp/.430 slg and was playing great. I didn't see a need to upgrade, especially at his salary, and at the end of 2015 he was "disappointed" that I didn't follow through.

Considering that the goal of upgrade a position is tied to position ranking which is tied to OVR his stats aren't going to mean anything if you aren't playing with AI evaluation and made the adjustments.

In fairness, from what I've seen they do in the grand scheme of things. If you're winning, it seems they'll forgive not achieving the secondary goals, or at least that's what I've seen.

No. It's a bug. I've had it with Cy Young winners too. It should have fired for Lester but didn't for some reason.

Yes, that sounds like a bug to me. I think I see the problem when goals are issues in-season, we sometimes get confused on dates. Let me see what I can do to fix that for the next patch.

I wondered if it did not register because I made the trade before I had even advanced a day.
I did find it interesting that the fan interest was said to drop dramatically because I traded a guy who was not even slated to be a starter by the computer manager. Of course signing getting Lester upped the fan interest greatly. |
