Help With Starting Fictional League
I would really appreciate some hand holding here if someone is willing. I understand that the nature of the game makes it so that everyones experience is different. This makes it difficult for one person to impart advice to another because of individual likes and dislikes. I'm not worried about that. I've tried to do this before and it just falls apart so I need some very specific advice to get it off the ground.
I am not exactly new to OOTP but I don't usually customize league structures and such. So all the specific advice I can get the better. This is what I'm looking for: 1) based in Great Lakes region (Should I set the region then? To what?) 2) looking to start with about 16 team, with expansion possible in the future 3) Would like all drafts (including the league inaugrial draft) to be stocked by COL & HS feeders ** I plan on this being a mostly stats based league with scouting ratings used as a secondary measure, thus feeders with stats is CRUCIAL** My biggest issue with this one is how to get the draft pool stocked for the inaugrial draft 4) Would like to have modern day roster structure (5 starters, closer, etc.) with much smaller financial structure (i.e. - average quality player salary around $25k - $30k) Thanks for any help that can be provided. Once I get the structure down right and everything all set, I'd like to do a dynasty report on this league. Not that that matters to any of you, just some added info I guess.

Something I do with feeders is plan on simming 10 years or so to build up available players. Just delete history to get rid of crazy stats.

Do you have to create the feeders first, simulate them for X number of years to fill enough players to cover the inaugural draft, then create your major league?

If you want all the players to come from feeders, including the inaugural draft, then you will need to create the league complete with feeders. Sim probably 40 years into the future. At this point you would want to go into the settings and start the inaugural draft. After the draft I suggest you delete all history for your major leagues.

bumping for a related question
Regions do nothing as to free agents, right? So if there are other regions in use in the game world, to use the example in this thread, a player from a West Coast region would be able to sign with a team in the Great Lakes region? Because the game recognizes them all as from "United States".
