Couple of questions about random debut league
Decided I'd try one of these for the 1st time with OOTP16 and it's a really fun concept. Having a couple of issues though that I was wondering if anyone knows tweaks for:
1. It produces way too many good players in the inaugural draft and the subsequent rookie drafts. I would've much preferred to keep my league at 16 teams in "1901" and expand in a somewhat historical way but I've been forced to expand to like 36 teams after one year just to stop every team from turning in to an all-time great all-star team which is not what I want. (plus am worried the supply of players will run out after a few years at this rate). Is there any way to make the number of players in the drafts smaller and the talent distribution per year more realistic? (couple of great players, lots of mediocre ones)? 2. I'd also really like a way to make everyone in the inaugural draft in this kind of league young (like 21 or so) because it kind of sucks to have Babe Ruth show up as a 36 year old and play one year in your league. I did edit every player manually in my league and don't really want to have to do that ever again [it took forever]... Thanks and great games as always, OOTP Developments. |

I will start with your #2 first. In the end, you really don't want an entire league of 18-21 year olds. The logjam something like this would create would really mess up your league for years. Forum member MarkinCincy(forgive me if I got the name wrong) has done some testing and he say's you can delete a player (for example a 36 year old Babe Ruth) before the inaugural draft and the player will reappear later at his MLB debut age. As to the problem of too many great players. I have to say I've never seen this. In fact, I often start with a season like 1974 and delete 8 teams to get down to 16, so I will have more players per team. Even then I don't see super teams. I use small drafts from that point on. Anywhere from 4-6 players per year. |
