Questionable recovery time?
New hits my manager's desk:
"...just been informed by your team trainer that {starting pitcher} has been diagnosed with a finger blister. He is out for about 3 weeks." Wait.....Really? 3 weeks for a finger blister? Must be a slow healer, or forgetting his Nolan Ryan pickle juice soak. |

A real nasty one right on the pad of the index finger or in the side of the middle finger could easily make a guy miss a week or two. Thats isn't as bad as others I have had. I think I had one where a bruised toe put a guy out for two months.

I had a blister on my right thumb from an infection and it lasted over a month. Luckily I'm left handed so it didn't affect much of my day to day life.

I have yet to have it take more than a week to ten days with proper treatment (which is simple). I can see it taking longer on a 35+ year old, but on 18-30 year olds with "normal" or "Durable? Now a heel or foot blister I can see taking longer because of our bipedal maneuvering, but not a finger. I have to agree with Lou Gehrig on that one. Wimp. :::: chuckle ::: |
