Develop vs trade

Idk if this is common knowledge amongst OOTP vets, but for me it seems easier to trade away my prospects in order to acquire players that i need right at the moment. For me it is easier to keep recycling players to win consistently than develop and win consistently.

What do you guys usually do?

Set trading on very hard (or hard) and turn down scouting accuracy. Either way, if you have the budget, you can absolutely do what the Yankees do, but if you're a smaller market team you'll find that developing talent is the only way.

George Allen (NFL football coach) had a saying, "The Future is Now" and would trade draft choices and rookies for experienced players that can win now. As Bly suggested, this of course only works if you're on an unlimited budget.

You have to do both. I have a $24M/yr SP going into the tank and my ass is going to be saved by a 24 year-old SP who is ready now.

Also depends on the team and their budget. With harder settings and low budget team you have no choice but to develop. (As others have already said)

I personally like to develop. In my fictional league I don't do much in FA. I always have money if I do need/want to sign someone but it's usually because of a long term injury.

I've found it's much easier, in fact too easy, to do the opposite. I trade developed players who are making money or about to hit FA for guys about to develop into being major league ready.

You should raise TCR and up the trading difficulty.
