Angry Going out of my mind with Lineups

I imported two historic players onto my Toronto Bluejays team and every time I insert them into the lineup and depth charts the damn AI reverts back to the original lineup. I have tried everything including changing all lineups, depth charts and 7 day lineups. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any chance you've delegated the task of lineup setting to your manager? Even if you're in commish mode, if you have your manager set to make the lineups, he'll switch them back to what he wants.

Edit: By the way, this would be under your team control settings under your manager tab.

For future reference, you can always go back and edit a post like Ruthian23 did.

I am not managing the Bluejays but changing the lineups as Commissioner. Is this not allowed?

Don't think that's allowed, after all if that function was available we'd win the WS every single year

I don't think that AI roster changes have anything to do with lineups except in the case of someone being recalled or sent down. If you prevent AI roster changes and don't make them yourself you will get crashes or errors wham players get injured and cannot be replaced.

Excuse my frustration but I've probably posted this 100 times through the years. The AI will change the lineup based on it's parameters unless a human is in control ie as manager GM etc. If you are in commissioner mode you must be acting as, "insert team here" or you will have no control over lineups depth charts and substitutions. If you don't use 7- day lineups you cannot be sure that the lineup in any game will be the one you expect it to be.

Test it. I have. It is easy to set lineups, take a screenshot, sim a week and look at box scores to see who played and where they batted.

Indeed, if you use "prevent AI roster changes" like I posted you need to be on the ball and make sure that you are being notified of all injuries so that you can make the appropriate changes. You also need to keep an eye on the players fatigue because the AI will not replace them if they are even exhausted which will cause them to be injured. It will make player/pitching substitutions during the game though.

Also, if you leave the Commissioner Mode, that check mark will stay the way it is.

I am trying to install John Olerud and Roberto Alomar into the 1985 Bluejays lineup and Garcia and Upshaw don't want to leave. .

From your GM home page, go to "Control & Auto Play Settings" and make sure you're in control of the lineups and not the manager.

Why do you have them on the '85 Jays? Alomar was a rookie in 1988. You can control all teams otherwise pull a Billy Beane and trade Garcia and Upshaw away. When you imported thos 2 did you have the year set to 1985 or 1988 or Alomar & 1989 for Olerud? If you selcted 1985 for their import year then both players suck. If you selected 1988 & 1989 for their import years they are still not that good.

If you do this, will the computer pinch hit, make defensive changes, etc. during the game?

I wouldn't think so. Right?

p.s. I am tired of watching Pudge Rodriguez lead off for the 99 Rangers. Ridiculous.
