Draft Pool Talent Decrease After Year First Couple Years?

So I've now played OOTP Baseball 2015 in many different forms, with different teams, expansions teams, etc... and there's one thing I've consistently noticed: After the first few years, there appears to be a considerable drop in amateur draft talent.

In the first few years, even with a late first rounder, you still have a reasonable shot to get a really talented guy. A 4 1/2 star potential type of player. Even in the third or fourth round, you still have 4-star potential guys available. I get potential ratings don't always equate to how good a player will be, but it definitely reflects on how good that draft pools potential talent is. When I get into later years, I might be lucky to get a 3 1/2 potential guy with a late first, and by the third round, it's noting but guys who are sub-3 star potential.

Does anyone else notice this? Is it that the first couple years aren't an accurate reflection or that the later years are a more accurate reflection of what draft class talent tends to look like?

The first drafts are man made (based on real people) and are rated high on purpose. The generated players for the draft are rated based on the default PCM's. So the two are not really using the same scale for lack of a better word.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Well, kind of. I don't get why the fact that they're based on real people would impact how they are scaled, but I see what you're saying.

They wanted those players rated higher than usual. I guess so the real players would not get overshadowed by the fake fictional players. It would be a waste of time if all of the hand crafted players disappeared in the game in a few years.
