Assign real rookies to real teams

Hi all,

I’m in year 2 of a historical sim. I manually played out the entire first season, so I’d really hate to have to abandon this year, but I must have had some setting wrong, as the game has imported rookies from across all eras for the draft.

Incidentally, I have the amateur draft set to off which I was hoping would assign real rookies to their real teams, but somehow the game has set up the draft and it’s ready to go.

Is it too late for me to fix this? Can I go back to a previous save game and load I the appropriate rookies for this year?

If not, and I have to start from scratch, can someone walk me through the steps so this doesn’t happen again?

If you want to do historical sims with players on the right teams, choose the options to use real life rosters, transactions and lineups (or however its worded) when starting your league.

Yes you will need to create a new game and you will see a screen that Antonia posted.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful. I was under the impression that historical lineups would make transactions for me in the offseason. I dont want to do that. I just want to import the historical rosters and play from there, i dont want my players being traded out from under me. I'm trying to see if i can do better than the historical GM.

But I still want the real rookies coming into my system. Is this possible?

I believe that if you have Historical Transactions unchecked, but on the same panel (Game Settings > League Settings > Historical) have Automatically Import Historical Rookies checked, and Import Rookies as Free Agents unchecked, it will accomplish what you are looking for.

I suggest a quick test league to check it out.

Also, under the historical tab, on the left side near the bottom make sure "use random rookies from all eras" is unchecked. I think you want to make sure " automatically import historical rookies" is checked, if I understand what you are trying to do.
Also, when you first create a league there is an option to use random players from various years, make sure that is off, unless you want random rookies from various years.

Just my opinion as i have not found a good way to easily do this...
i want say ensure boog powell is not traded and plays more years..
there is no....'stay put override option'
you have search for him figure out if if he retired...unretire him
offer him a contact...wait for him to sign..etc

i have found it difficult to create scenarios for seasons easily

if you ever try to expand with rookies going to their teams your 2 expansion teams will NEVER get new good players.

if the rookies all become free agents you will NEVER has the teams similar to what they actually were.
