Unfortunately, I am not computer literate and have no idea of how to do that in OOTP Baseball.

I have never been able to use the filter system in the game. It is beyond my computer expertise.
Filters do not require any computer knowledge. All you need to do is right click on a column and then click filter. After you set the first filter you can continue doing it. For example, right click age and set the filter to at least 35. Then right click on overall and set its filter to less than 3 stars.

The game will now only show players that are 35 and older and have an overall of less than 3 stars. Now you can mass select and retire if those are the parameters you want.

OP - you seem to have identified unproductive players as the topic of the thread. So, how have you decided certain players are unproductive? Then, see if you can find that as a category(ies) in the stats filters. Then, as bobfather states, do a mass select using the buttons to the left of the list. From there, it is a but a short journey to the delete option. Voila. One minute solution.

Before doing this perhaps do a backup and save. Or, easier still, just go into the windows file and do a cpy-paste of the entire folder. Just in case it goes sideways.

How many young players per team are you adding each year? I think you probably need to add more reserve level players.
Thanks for your help. Appreciate it.

Rain King, you are correct. I think the problem is the talent level of the active rosters is much better than the talent level on the reserve rosters.

I just going to have to manually draft players for the teams from the Free Agents myself. For some reason the AI doesn't sign them and replace the players with poor ratings on the reserve rosters.

If you have to ask the question, you're better off using default values.
Thank you for your help. Really appreciate it.

Yes, since I don't really know what I am doing, I use the game's default ratings. I will go back and change "38"and "Younger" to the default settings as they were.

I think how you view the reserve roster may be different than how the game uses them. I think you’re viewing the reserve roster as a sort of minor league team where you would want productive players trying to get better and hoping to make the team. I’ve thought that myself although rarely play in that era.

However, it occurred to me when reading through this that maybe the reserve roster is just a group of guys sitting on their butts waiting to get the call. And nobody was making money in that era. So reserve players with talent probably are working jobs making a living wage vs sitting around for a few hundred bucks hoping someone gets injured.

That is my understanding of the reserve rosters. They are like a Triple A team. They are supposed to continue development and be ready to be activated when needed.

The AI has always kept my reserve roster at the 21-man limit. This year it will not fill it up for some unknown reason.

I am just going to have to manually retire aging players and replenish the reserve rosters when needed.

Thanks to all of you who have tried to help me. I appreciate it.

To improve the Free Agents, I created talent levels good enough for the AI to sign them for the reserve roster. This solved the problem of the reserve roster not having enough players.

This also solved the problem of aging players playing too long. The talent levels on the reserve rosters improved and the aging players were replaced by younger players.

Warning: Young players will begin to show up in big numbers. But this is better than not having enough players on the reserve rosters.

All is well in the Islandian Pro Alliance for now. It is not perfect the way control freak EC would like, but I can live with it. I have no choice --- I have to.

Glad you got it fixed. I read your dynasty every once in a while. It actually inspired me to create my own baseball country and world in OOTP; it's a lot of fun.

Yep... I like fictional worlds, too. You have no expectations because you don't know anybody. I had an All-time League using real MLB players and was disappointed when some of them played poorly. Tom Seaver was 7-22 with a 5.00 ERA in one of my leagues.

That doesn't happen in fictional worlds.
