By the way, since the dawn of the DH, 242 players have played at least 50% of their games at the DH position and also qualify for a batting title. Here's the list of all of them age 25 or younger:

Code:
Player Year	Age	Tm
Jesus Montero	2012	22	SEA
Billy Butler	2011	25	KCR
Adam Lind	2009	25	TOR
Brad Fullmer	2000	25	TOR
Carlos Delgado	1996	24	TOR
Albert Belle	1992	25	CLE
Frank Thomas	1991	23	CHW
Gene Larkin	1988	25	MIN
Jim Rice	1977	24	BOS
Eddie Murray	1977	21	BAL
Oscar Gamble	1974	24	CLE
Carlos May	1973	25	CHW
It's not too common.

Honestly, yes. I doubt a person would quit baseball at an age where he has been drafted because he can not field. If he realizes he can not field then why the heck is he playing in high school? A smart scout/coach/player/all of the above would work hard to be the best firstbaseman of leftfielder he can be.
Just watch Johnny Gomes in Atlanta this year! Built like a truck, runs the outfield like a truck, but still works hard and hustles out there. Always has!

I will take Albert Belle, since he is a lightning of the 90s. It is trust he DH'd at a young age, but really was not a full time DH ever.

Albert Belle Statistics and History | Baseball-Reference.com

Eddie Murray DH'd alot his rookie year due to Lee May blocking his way to the bag, then did not DH much until he was in the twilight of career, even was in the NL for the Dodgers and Mets for his glove and bat.

Not me. I would rather have Player A who win me games with the bat only and isn't put in a position to lose me games with his glove (a WAR-positive player overall), then Player B who doesn't win me games with either his bat or his glove (a WAR-neutral player, or more exactly, a replacement player), just because Player B is a better fielder.

Sounds like you're a big fan of the old Diamondbacks front office plan when they traded Justin Upton for Prado and signed Cody Ross.
Perceived hustle and "grit" > analytics based decisions?

If I had another chance at voting now, I would say that Assos is just a crazy mets fan.
