The St. Louis Cardinals have signed Mark Kotsay to a minor-league contract. He will begin play at AAA Memphis.

The Cardinals have activated outfielder Reggie Sanders from the disabled list. Sanders has been out since May 24 with a sprained elbow.
For make room for Sanders, outfielder Roger Cedeno has been released.
Cedeno had been cited by multiple players as a disruptive influence in the clubhouse and because he has not contributed much on the field, management felt it was better to move forward without him.

Outfielder Mark Kotsay will be called up from AAA Memphis.
When a determination on Ray Lankford's injury is made, a pitcher to replace Marquis, probably Dan Haren, will be made.

Haren will be brought back up if Jason Marquis is unavailable for his next start. Or he could replace Matt Morris in the rotation, based on his next outing.

Cardinals IF Marlon Anderson has asked for an extension.
He is barely playing adequately but if I think it will help him perform better down the stretch. I might consider it as a utility player price.
