Ron Guidry set as a RP. Kind of cool that he was the AL Reliever of the Year in 1976. I thought the game would automatically adjust him to a SP in 1977, which is what happened to my own Jack Morris after a year in the minors as a RP. Didn't notice that the game didn't adjust Guidry until seeing he won the Reliever award again in 1977. So the talent to have a 16-7, 2.82 ERA and 6.1 WAR season was wasted with a terrific 2.7 WAR relief season. I adjusted him prior to the 1978 season. But it would have been nice if the game looked at his 1977 season (25 starts and 210 IP) and adjusted him to a SP with SP endurance. A third of his 70s prime of 1977-79 went down the drain. |

the database does not control much as far as ratings go, it is merely a compendium of stats. It does have some lumped together OF and INF ratings that the game uses as it will. The pitcher ratings and roles are controlled by the game.
The database does help positionally as Mantle switches from SS and Ruth from P. With recalc on Rose will gain a 1B rating automagically.

On a 1931 import, Stan Hack imports with swapped handedness compared to Baseball-Reference.
He imported as a lefty thrower/righty batter, BBRef and Wikipedia show Right Throw/Left bat |

A couple other players who imported with handedness swapped. This is from a 1931 import for an online league.

May have been mentioned, not really gonna go through 10 pages, but...
Why are all of the 2017 rookie leagues (Appalachian, Pioneer, Arizona, and Gulf Coast) missing from the historical database? Last edited by LunchBox; 10-12-2018 at 06:38 AM. |

Markus asked that they be skipped. Probably makes the game data file too big? They actually exist in the database but are not exported to the game.

No. They are not in the in-game historical database.
I believe they may be available in the "standard" game however. I do not know if or how you can import from there.

Yesterday, I tried doing a historical exhibition with the 1995 Angels. Gary DiSarcina did not import with the rest of the team. I was set for end of season rosters, but out of curiosity I then tried beginning of season rosters and he did not import then either.

The exhibitions data is not a part of the historical database. I do not think it has a thread. You would need to message forum member pstrickert on this issue
Let me know if you do not know how and I can send him a message for you but if I do any questions or replies would come back to me so it is cleaner if you can do it...

I see what you are saying, but there does seem to be a historical_database.odb problem as well. After your reply, I went into ODRosters.csv and EOSRosters.csv and DiSarcina was missing from both in 1995. I added him to both files, but he is still not importing in a historical exhibition on either the opening day or end of season setting. I then tried importing the 1995 California Angels to an existing league, and he did not import with the team. DiSarcina is in the historical database and can be imported as an individual, but he is not importing through any manner as part of the team. LibreOffice is not playing nice with historical_database.odb, so I have not been able to check if there is an obvious error in there. Is there another file I need to be looking at? If you cannot think of anything on the historical database side, then I will contact pstrickert as suggested. I do appreciate you looking into this.

Changes to any csv files are not reflected in game. they are for informational porpoises only as far as I know.
ODB files cannot be read cleanly by any outside source. they are a proprietary OOTP format. many have tried, none have succeeded

That's all fine and good, but does not completely speak to my followup question: if a player is not importing at all as part of a team (not just in historical exhibition mode, but through any method that allows bringing historical players into the game), but does import individually (i.e. is present in the database) is that a historical database issue that you would look at, or something that should go to pstrickert?

Gary DiSarcina had no MLB batting record in his debut year of 1989, no plate appearances, he does have a MLB fielding record, He does also have a record in the appearances file for his baserunning stint as well as a full minor league record for 1989.
I do not have any idea how this all matches up to historical exhibition rosters nor player importationalismness. Those are both controlled by other entities. One by pstrickert and the other by unknown parties. AFAIK. Which is about a foot and a half.

If he does not import when creating an historical league, then he also will not appear on the OD or EOS rosters in historical exhibition mode. The latter depends on the former.
