May 2296 - News and Notes - May 23
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 23 May 2296 - Samm Almost Ready Team doctors reported that the pace of recovery for Josh Samm has been hampered by several recent setbacks and they have reassessed his injury situation. Despite some complications, if all goes well, the Diamond City Swatters closer should rejoin the club in five days. Samm is suffering from bullet wounds. Six weeks ago, Samm was shot with a minigun by his girlfriend's lover, Max Lurkheart. Neither Lurkheart nor Samm's former girlfriend Velma Scoby have been found, and they are not believed to be in the Commonwealth currently. Samm returned fire, where it was assumed he struck one of either Lurkheart or Scoby, but neither was known to be treated for their injuries. Samm made only one appearance on the season before his gunshot wounds. In one inning pitched, he allowed one hit, walked a batter, and struck out two. He recorded a save for the Swatters in that game.

Week 8 - General News
Nordhagen Beach - Tommy Talkington is worth talking about. His defense needs to improve, though! He committed his 10th error of the season, but he overcame that with the bat.
ML - Cats Sweep Lurks: The Atom Cats defeated the Warwick Mirelurks, 16-15. Doing his part was first baseman Random Lurkcakes, who was 4-6 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. Reliever Chris Leggman picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Pem Pollack took the loss. Freedom Williams finished to wrap up his 5th save. Atom first baseman Will Ashfire delivered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth. Overall, he went 3 for 4, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 4 runs and batted in 2. Warwick player-coach Patty Cuttooth said he was disappointed with the loss: "Whenever you score that many runs, you expect to win the game." The Cats, now 14-10, have won 5 in a row.

DCR Week 8 Series Recap
The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week. I want to start off by apologizing to listeners during Thursday's broadcast. I was distracted by all the ESAU had to offer, thus missing several of the live action plays from this Egret-Vault 81 matchup. Thankfully, my assistant kept me on track yesterday and today. In our Railroad League action for Week 8 of the season, you just saw the Egret Scrappers complete the sweep over the Vault 81 Dwellers with a 13-7 victory. The win pushes the Scrappers to 15-9 and in second place while the Dwellers fall into a fourth place tie with Diamond City with the loss and the Swatters' win, respectively. In this series, we saw that Egret may have more talent that Moe Cronin's squad of punishers, scoring 11, 10, and 13 runs in each of the three games. Among some of the individual players to stand out for Egret include: catcher Tony Tamez, left fielder Paladin Danse, third baseman Jason Juras, and right fielder Crops Gerdenheimer. Danse's Game 2 performance stood out the most. He was 4 for 5 with a double, triple, and two home runs. In the game he scored four times and knocked in seven runners, including himself twice. Those numbers currently put him at the top of the record book in runs scored and runs batted in for a single game in the Railroad League. Vault 81 had a great performance by Deer Quickwalker that went to waste in Game One. He was 3 for 5 in that game with two home runs, two runs scored, and five runs batted in. Unfortunately, the Dwellers could no hold down the Scrappers in the last two innings, allowing nine runs in the 8th and 9th combined, including the plunked batter to lose the game. Egret cannot celebrate their victory too much. Now that they have established themselves as the second-best team with four straight victories, the Scrappers now have to travel to first place Oberland, who has won six straight with consecutive sweeps of Vault 81 and Shaw High School. The T-51s have now won 9 of their last 10 to move to 17-7 on the season, two games up on the Scrappers. The Dwellers have now been swept in consecutive weeks, dropping them to 10-14. Six games ago, they entered the series with Oberland with the chance to take over the division, but now see themselves seven games out of first and five games out of the potential division wild card spot. They have a lot of soul searching to do. Next week we will see Institute League action with the Lexington Synths for the second time this season when they host the Starlight Lady Killers, which will also be our second time to watch them play. Starlight lost 7-5 today to the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, dropping them to 13-11. Right now, WRVR is live broadcasting the Synths-Adamantium game. The Synths currently trail 5-1 in the bottom of the 6th in that one. That game started at 8:36 PM due to a radstorm delay, which did not quite make our games simulcast today. People may want to know why Lexington will be broadcast regionally for the second straight week and third in fourth. Well, it will be our third and final scheduled trip to watch the Institute League play before the flex weeks for division and playoff races. It's just how the schedule fell. We have 15 scheduled weeks to broadcast and only 23 stadiums we can go, with the Atom Cats having their own radio broadcast available only in the southeast region. Anyway, whether Lexington is 9-15 or 8-16, that's the place we will be. Nice, modernized settlement, not so nice team. Well, I went way past my minute. You have been listening to "The Confidence Man" with your favorite DJ from the Commonwealth, Travis Miles. Have a good week, and, you know, stay safe out there, Boston. Travis, out.

WRVR Week 8 Recap
The League Bowling Pin with Anne, Rex, and George A: We had a late one tonight thanks to the radstorm that blew through Abernathy Farm today, but it is now a final. The Abernathy Adamantium beat the Lexington Synths 6-2 at Tato Field to take the Institute League series two games to one. And now we’re pooped. This is “The League Bowling Pin.” I am your host Anne Hargraves, along with my favorite two guys, Rexie and George. Let’s talk baseball. R: Anne, we saw today that the dominator quite often dominates. Abernathy is the dominator of the Institute League. The Synths may need to reconsider their team name and logo at this point. G: It’s like the Synths should be the Sh***, am I right? A: Well, George, since we are past midnight now, why don’t we move our show along. Can you tell us about the best pitcher this week? G: No problem, Anne. This week we have an easy choice. The Top Pitcher this week was Game 2’s winner, Joe Penaltybox. He pitched a complete-game shutout for a 6-0 win in Game 2. In the game, he allowed six hits and struck out 12 batters. The 12 strikeouts is the record for the Institute League. A: Thank you, George. Now for the Sportiest Sport. Rex? R: Indeed, Anne. Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead. A: Rexie! R: As you may know, there were no true comebacks. Therefore, I will select my Sportiest Sport as the person who hit a late game-clinching home run. That person is Lexington’s Tyler Ross. In Game One, he single-handedly destroyed the Adamantium by hitting a three-run home run and driving in five of his team’s six runs in a 6-2 victory. The young lad Ross is this week’s Sportiest Sport. A: I will now choose the Outstanding Player of the week. We agreed not to select the same player for any of our weekly awards, so Penaltybox is out. Therefore, I will select Abernathy Farm’s Chris Hirshfield. The Adamantium left fielder hit 4 for 11 with two doubles, a home run, and he scored two runs, drove in six runs, and walked once. We are in the need for a long nap this evening, so we are cutting our show short this week. Next week we are going to visit The Slog to watch the 13-11 The Slog Ghouls take on the 11-13 County Crossing Bloodbugs for a Brotherhood League game. George and Rexie, it will be our first trip back to the Brotherhood League since our two-week bender with the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. R: Fondest of times. Greatest of times. A: From the Charles River Trio, from WRVR Radio, from our sponsor for this week, ‘Abernathy Farm. Tayto. Tahto.’ Also, make sure for your next visit to Abernathy Farm that you try Trixie’s Melon Slush, ‘When you don’t want to walk tomorrow, Trixie’s Melon Slush.’ That is all from this week. Now, Cole Porter, “Anything Goes.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aeQ3DmKU7A

2296 Players of the Week - Week 8
25 May 2296 - Players of the Week
BL - Mart Brotherhood League's Hottest Hitter: So far in his young career, Dustin Mart has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Brotherhood League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 24-year-old Nordhagen Beach Party Boys first baseman hit at a torrid .545 clip as he collected 6 hits in 11 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored. On the year Mart is hitting .302 with 29 hits, 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, .391 OBP and has scored 15 runs. IL - IL's Best Player, Corsica of Sunshine Tidings: Frank Corsica burst onto the Institute League stage in a big way last week. This promising center fielder acquired in a three-way trade garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy. The 26-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .643 (9-for-14) with no home runs and 2 RBIs last week. Corsica is batting .370 this season in 24 games with 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 40 hits in 108 at-bats. ML - Gatekeeper Selected Top Performer in ML: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Minutemen League, but last week Tutton Gatekeeper of the Warwick Mirelurks reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Gatekeeper rocked opposing pitching for a .455 average (5-for-11), 3 home runs and 7 RBIs to come away with the award. This year Gatekeeper is hitting at a .337 pace with 7 home runs and 21 RBIs. He has played in 24 games and scored 19 times. RL - RL Premier Player Picked: His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Paladin Danse was rewarded with the Railroad League Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Egret Scrappers left fielder hit .692 while collecting 9 hits in 13 at-bats, 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. Danse is currently batting .490 with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 48 hits in 98 at-bats.

Get to Know Your Settlements, Owners, and Corporations
Today in the CBO Settlements Today by Nat Wright-Kowalski 26 May 2296 - Warwick Homestead Each Tuesday for the upcoming weeks through the playoffs, we will feature one of the settlements, teams, and owners of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. This is meant to tell you more about life in the Commonwealth, as well as give you more information about the teams and their owners. In our seventh installment of "Settlement Today," I visited the home of the number one team in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization, Warwick Homestead. According to the intranet, "The Warwick homestead was once a waste treatment plant before the bombs fell. It was discovered by the Warwick family and they began a thriving farm, and a relationship with the Atom Cats. At some point before 2287 Bill Sutton and Cedric Hopton joined the farm" (https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Warwick_homestead). Warwick Homestead, circa 2287 Today, the settlement has moved to both a permanent home for a large number of people working in farming, fisheries, and trade. Warwick Homestead also provides a large number of its crops to Atom Cats Garage, Quincy, and Jamaica Plain. Warwick Homestead, 2293. There were no updated photos available at the time of this print. Owner - Roger Warwick Roger Warwick has an interesting history and connection to the former Institute line of human replacement. According to the intranet, "When [Nate Howard] speaks with Wally or Janey, Roger's children, they say that their father is a lot nicer than he used to be. In fact, Roger is a synth that was built by the Institute. The exact point at which the original Roger Warwick has been replaced is unknown. "He is a key component of the bioscience division's testing of genetically modified seeds on the surface. Terminals located inside the bioscience wing of the Institute indicate that Roger, along with the crops, will be retrieved by the Institute. All evidence of the initiative will be purged, hence implying his family with the rest of the settlers at Warwick homestead will be terminated once the experiments have concluded" (https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Roger_Warwick). Obviously, that all changed once Nate Howard took control of the Institute and turned it from whatever it was to an advanced and more humane institution than it once was. Surprisingly, not only was Roger's family not devastated by learning their father was a synth, but they actually thanked the Institute for the "man" he had become. In other words, they loved the new Roger. That new Roger turned the genetically-engineered crops into a grand seller throughout the Southeast portion of the Commonwealth. With the constant business pushed their way from the Atom Cats Garage, Warwick Homestead may not be the richest farm, but it is doing well. Crops and Smells Warwick Homestead has a smell that visitors notice, but they do not complain about the taste of the crops. Many have described the Warwick crops as having the Commonwealth's "juiciest melons," "sweetest tatos," and "softest corn."

Piper Column - 27 May 2296
Three Marys by Piper Wright Diamond City - This former reporter, now television empire guru, has been busy. Therefore, instead of traveling from settlement to settlement, I have used the ESAU system to get replies from players around the Commonwealth. I will post them when I can and promise to feature a player from every team. For this week's column, I put together three CBO player's profiles. In looking over the responses I received, I noticed that these three players are quite different in their backgrounds. However, they all have one thing in common: their mothers are named Mary. Therefore, in this feature of three players--Millioncap Go, Jesus Church, and John Atomson--I am titling this week's column, "The Three Marys." One – Millioncap Go, CF, The Slog Ghouls The Ghouls’ first-round pick has been a good player on a good team in the 13-11 Ghouls. In 24 games, he has been a standout player, batting .410 with 18 extra-base hits and 22 RBI. A look into the Brotherhood League leader board shows Go atop several categories going into Week 9. Those categories are: Slugging Percentage (.752), OPS (1.199), WAR (1.4), Triples (6), Total Bases (79), Extra-Base Hits (18), and ISO (.343). That’s Millioncap Go the baseball player. Now for Go the person. Go’s parents used to run a raider gambling ring out of East Pike Tunnel. His mother, Mary, was so obsessed with getting rich quickly that she named each of her four children after money: Millioncap, Dollery, Captain, and Cashetta. “My mom only talked about money,” Go wrote through an interview request on the ESAU system. “Save money, steal money, pickpocket money, invest money, save money, swindle money, jambalaya money, metal money, paper money, gold money, silver money, fake money, heavy money, bank money, corporate money, money money, caps, bottlecaps, cancaps, hat caps, hubcaps, captains, dollars, cents, banknotes, checks, balances, banks, taco trucks. It never ended. “She told me I was going to be the first millioncapaire, thus my name, Millioncap.” Two – Jesus Church, LF, Starlight Lady Killers Jesus (pronounced Jess-uss) Church was drafted by Sunshine Tidings but was traded in what we will call the Bertha Principle. Small Bertha wanted her brother, Tony Bertha, to play for Sunshine Tidings since she is the corporate sponsor of the team. Church, who was the 6th-round pick, was shipped to Starlight in a three-way trade involving the Chemists, Lady Killers, and County Crossing Bloodbugs. With the Lady Killers, he has been a solid addition to the second place 13-11 Lady Killers. In exactly 100 at-bats, he has 30 hits. Of those 30 hits, nine have been doubles and two were home runs. He has also driven in 25 and scored 15 runs. Church’s name makes a lot of sense when you learn about his upbringing. Raised around Jamaica Plain, his early years were spent in a church. “My parents lived in a church and there was this fellow’s name written all around it,” Church wrote. “My mom liked the name Jesus, so that was my name. The place was called the Church of Jesus with some other words behind it, so my parents just called me Jesus Church. My middle name is Christ because that was written on the church, too. My parents used to be McNamara, but they became Church, too. Joseph and Mary Church. Nice people. Loved taking vacations to barns for some reason.” Three – John Atomson, C, Jamaica Plain Treasures Atomson, the 12th-round pick of the Jamaica Plain Treasures, has been struggling just as much as his 6-18 team in this inaugural Commonwealth Baseball Organization season. In 24 games, Atomson is batting .233 in 90 at-bats with 15 runs scored and four runs batted in. Though he was expected to be among the team leaders in home runs, he has yet to hit one this season as we approach the midway point. Atomson also has a unique story among CBO players. He was born in Woburn, Massachusetts, an area north of Lexington. There his parents met a group of pilgrims as part of the Church of the Children of Atom. Though many people around the Commonwealth will see the Children of Atom, very few know much about the religion. According to the intranet, the tenets of Atom’s Children believe this: “The religion of the Children of Atom is centered around the eponymous Atom and the idea that within every atomic mass in all of creation exists an entire universe. When that atomic mass is split, that universe divides and becomes two. As such, Atom is a creator deity, creating new worlds through the act of nuclear fission (referred to by the Children as Division). As a result, the Great War is seen and cherished as a divine event that created uncountable new universes in one instant. It represents creation and unification in Atom's Glow: radiation.” Nate Howard has also talked about theories of the split of universes, multiple universes of existence. There have been some of those connections found, for example in the Dunwich Borers quarry, which has been restricted to people of the Commonwealth because of its strange qualities. For Atomson, his parents toted the infant John from Woburn to an area northeast of Lynn near the Kingsport Lighthouse. That place was called the Crater House. There John was somehow immune to the effects of radiation, but his parents started to show the tell-tale signs of radiation poisoning as many of the Children of Atom show. John’s parents changed their family name to Atomson, like many of the Church do, and there they lived until John was nine years old. Then, in 2282, the Atomson’s joined a group of pilgrims that were headed to the Glowing Sea. On that trip, John’s mother Mary changed her mind about going to the Glowing Sea. Since the members of the Children of Atom did not like the act of free will and would force her and her young son to go, Mary ran away and sought sanctuary in Diamond City at the All Faiths Chapel. “Pastor Clements was great,” Atomson wrote. “He probably delt (sic) with a few of Atoms (sic) Children going into his church and trying to convert everyone to the Church of Atom. So he new (sic) to pruteck (sic) us.” John never saw his father again after that. He assumes his father made it to the Glowing Sea, but it is a treacherous journey with lots of extreme dangers. Still, there is a place called the Crater of Atom. It is the very place where the biggest of the Boston-area nuclear bombs hit, and it is also the location of the Grand Pilgrimage of the members of the Church of the Children of Atom. “Alive or dead, I won’t see my dad again,” Atomson wrote. “His people are not well. But my mom and I are doing grate (sic). I think its (sic) a happy ending.”

28 May 2296 - DCR Week 9 Preview
DCR – STARLIGHT LADY KILLERS (13-11) AT LEXINGTON SYNTHS (8-16) WHAT TO KNOW Abernathy looks to be the class of the Institute League, but Starlight has a good shot of being in the playoff run throughout the season. However, last weekend's series loss to the 11-13 Forth Hagen Silver Shroud did not help their cause. The Lady Killers will look to bounce back this week and avenge an earlier series loss to the Synths. Lexington has been among one of the top struggling teams within the CBO. The IL's sixth-place team, has only won two series all season. The first of those two series wins was in Week 3 at this Starlight team. The Synths will look to match that performance where they held the Lady Killers to 4 and 2 runs in their wins. The Synths cannot climb out of last place, but they can start their path up this weekend. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM STARLIGHT The Lady Killers are going to score a lot of runs and give up a lot at the same time. Their starting pitching staff hold a league-worst 9.03 ERA and give up the fifth-most runs (187) in the league. On the flip side, they are 3rd in the IL in scoring (167 runs). While they are -20 in run differential, it is a sign of winning close games (5-2 in one-run games) and occasionally getting blown out. In close games, expect Starlight to win. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM LEXINGTON The Synths have not been adept at scoring runs, but the pitching staff has helped to keep the Synths in games. Their numbers are not great, but a solid performance by the pitching staff to keep scores low can only help keep them in the game. Therefore, for the Synths to win this series, they need low-scoring games. KEY PLAYERS IN THE SERIES STAR: Man of the People—Lady Killers' shortstop Justin People bats eighth in the lineup, but he is a boost to the batting order when he is hot. At .358/2/18, his bat can help determine if the Lady Killers will blow up the opponent's pitching staff or not. LEX: Obey the Rules – He may be famous in the Commonwealth for something other than baseball, but former Brotherhood paladin, Danse looks to be on the MVP track in the RL. Danse is currently batting .459 on the season with seven home runs and 17 RBI. He leads the league and CBO in several advanced categories, which puts him in a powerful position as the Scrappers’ cleanup man. Those CBO-leading categories include OBP (.520), extra-base hits (20), OPS+ (205), and WOBA (.567). PREDICTION: Starlight may be the better team, but this series may be all about the Synths. We predict Lexington to take two.

28 May 2296 - WRVR Week 9 Preview
WRVR – COUNTY CROSSING BLOODBUGS (11-13) AT THE SLOG GHOULS (13-11) KNOW THE STARS CC: LF Tom Mastodon – The Brotherhood League leader in batting average, the Bloodbugs' leadoff hitter has been the best overall batter for his team. He is also third on the team in home runs (3) and second in RBI (21). SLOG: SP Edwin Mass – Mass has been a great ace for the Ghouls, going 5-2 on the season with a 3.86 ERA. For The Slog to have success, it is important for Mass to get a Game One win for the team, giving the Ghouls the boost they need to take the series. PLAYER VS PLAYER – GAME ONE LINEUPS AND STARTING PITCHERS TEAM ANALYSIS County Crossing is in 5th place in the BL, mostly because they seem to struggle at the plate and on the mound. The Bloodbugs are 4th in runs scored (144) and last in home runs (19). While Mastodon and Joel Carrotflower are hitting well at the top of the lineup, shortstop Clint Bragman is the only other player on the team batting over .300. The Bloodbugs need to be much better on offense to move into playoff position. The Bloodbugs seem to be doing better with the 2nd best bullpen ERA and 5th-best starter ERA in the BL. However, the Bloodbugs are worst in the BL in runs allowed with 167 runs. None of the three starters--Front Porch Potter, Bad Company Grognak, and Blaine Phrasemaker--have been able to consistently win, so they have depended on players like closer William Whitehurst to help when the starters cannot maintain a lead. It seems like The Slog should have a huge lead in the BL since the team leads the league in runs scored (164) and runs allowed (137). Led by Millioncap Go, the offense has been pretty good up and down the lineup, perhaps except for 1B Nick Homebody (.091/0/0). It seems a dead body could do better than Homebody. That is why Go has been forced to start at first base rather than his natural position in the outfield. Somehow, the combination of the league's 3rd-best starter staff and 4th-best bullpen combine to lead the BL in runs allowed. Behind Mass, Gary Estate (3-2, 5.94) and Sage Monticello (2-3, 5.45) have been solid, too, giving the Ghouls a chance to go into any late portion of the game with a lead. That gives relievers David Pitones or Kent Rutledge a chance to pull off a victory. PREDICTIONS Ghouls 8, Bloodbugs 4 Bloodbugs 7, Ghouls 6 Ghouls 11, Bloodbugs 7 CBO FULL SCHEDULE

Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 29 May 2296 - Brotherhood League Punishes Pair for Fighting If there wasn't a history between Alec Bullets of Finch Farm and Noodle Green of Nordhagen Beach, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum in the Four Leafs' 10-2 victory over the Party Boys with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 8 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Bullets said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." This year Bullets is hitting at a .295 pace with 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. He has played in 25 games and scored 13 times. Taking a look at his season stats for 2296, Green has made 8 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 1-0 won-lost mark with a 3.21 ERA. In pitching 14 innings, he has totaled 7 strikeouts and 6 walks.

This will be a tough series for the Boys and that's not a good start. I was hoping for them to win a couple, but now looks unlikely.

I visited Ao today. It reminded me of King Tykerion Aokin XXXIX. Well, he is long gone, so . . .
King Tyke XL has spoken! All hail the wrath of the king! Time for a post-series story.

30 May 2296 - News and Notes
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 30 May 2296 - Nordhagen Beach Fans Not Happy Nordhagen Beach - Following an ESAU watch party at Red Rocket Stadium, there was some bitterness in the Party Boys' 5-4 loss to Finch Farm. This morning, dozens of flyers were found littering Nordhagen Beach's sands outside the same restaurant where an all-night party lit up the beach. The anger of the Nordhagen Beach fans seems to begin and end with newly acquired pitcher Kevin Containment who blew his third save attempt of the season, plummeting the Party Boys to two games into last place at 10-16. Had Containment contained those games, the Party Boys would be in much better shape at 13-13 and only be two games out of first. Finch Farm, who won the game, is now 2-0 in this series against the Party Boys, making their division difference six games. The Four Leafs are 16-10 heading into tonight's Game 3 matchup. Our correspondent acquired one of the flyers, which we have published below. We have no knowledge if the reward is legitimate, but we are looking into it.

DCR Week 9 Series Recap
The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week. They came, they played, they won a series. The Lexington Synths broke their tide of losing, defeating the Starlight Lady Killers 9-5 today to take the Institute league series, two games to one. I'm Travis Miles, and this is "The Confidence Man Minute." While the Synths did not improve their place in the IL, they have given themselves some hope for the rest of the season as they do not fall any deeper in the division hole. At the same time, Starlight has lost a game on first place Abernathy, falling to 14-13, four games back of the 18-9 Adamantium. The weekend could have been worse for the Lady Killers as they needed 12 innings in Game 1 to win, 6-4. The most outstanding performance on the weekend came in Game 2 when Synths second baseman Greg Macn went 3 for 3 with a home run, two RBI, three runs, and a walk. Despite not getting a decision in Game One, Starlight's ace City Moore had the best pitching performance on the weekend. In 6.0 innings, he allowed one earned run on seven hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Still, he left the game trailing 3-0 before Lady Killers made a comeback. Well, that will do it from the luxury suites at Lexington's Super Duper Mart. Next week, we will be at University Point to watch the Deathclaws take on the Jamaica Plain Treasures. Have a great week!
