I got a message from SABR this evening regarding the "Phil Hennigan" image in Braves70's post quoted above. The player in question is apparently not Jim Braxton, who like Hennigan was not left-handed. Several photos of Braxton are available in Amazin69's post in the minor league thread here. Braxton wore #50 while with the Indians during spring training 1970 and the mystery player wore #51. If anyone has a 1970 Indians spring training roster or program I'm sure we can figure out exactly who it is.

The 1970 Street & Smiths says #51 belonged to Robert Kaiser, a pitcher who was left-handed (switch hitter, though). He pitched 5 games for Cleveland in 1971.

I don't think it's Kaiser. Here's our Mystery player (left) and Kaiser (right). The ears (among other things) do not match. I suppose the mystery photo could have been taken in 1969, but it looks like a spring training photo and I didn't think the Indians had the MLB logo on their spring training jerseys in '69.

When I corrected the misidentified "Hennigan" I RE-misidentified as "Braxton."

The mystery pitcher is Ronald "Tex" Henson, the Indians' 1967 first round draft choice out of Rice and a minor league washout.

Just to clarify, here's everybody, all in one place. Sticking to the numbers make it easier:

38 - Phil Hennigan, of Cleveland and the Mets
50 - Jim Braxton, another Cleveland farmhand
51 - Tex Henson
No number visible - Bob Kaiser, in a '70-'71 Tribe uni

Walter Clarkson / Champ Osteen / Thomas James (Long Tom) Hughes - not to be confused with Thomas L. (Salida Tom) Hughes who pitched for the Highlanders from 1906-10.

I do notice Mr. Hughes is in a different uniform than the other guys. If anyone sees anything incorrect, let me know. Thank you to all for your contributions.
