I doubt that Keith forgot they were in Detroit; there's probably a traveling party of Mets fans. Perhaps the 7 Line Army is in town?

Or by "exits" perhaps he simply meant your ledge.

Looking at the clock, I assume it's still early in the game. Whether that's a good or a bad thing, I leave you to discover.

Geography nitpick: the ballpark in Detroit faces east, as usual, so to get to Canada, Greene's ball would have to go over the 1B dugout and thus be foul. (Since, as we all know, Canada actually borders Detroit on the south, which is why the line in "Don't Stop Believing" about "born and raised in South Detroit" is so silly; "South Detroit" would be the river, or Windsor, Ontario.)

But, to be fair, even heading east, if you send the ball far enough, I suppose it'll get to Canada eventually…

Greene's ball probably reaches Canada *north* of Detroit right about now.

Speaking of time, it might be early in the game, but it's also quite early to get late for the Mets in '23.....

There's a lot of blue in the stands. But not on the board.

Unless you count the splattered bits of 40-year-old right-hander.

So who are we gonna be madder at today? Vogelbach, for crawling past second base and getting tagged out lumbering back, costing the Mets a run when Baty couldn't score fast enough on the play, or the ******* blind bat of a home plate umpire that punched out Pete on a pitch half a mile outside and with the bags full?

I mean, one way or another it's gonna be an L anyway.

Edit: don't know what happened to that last sentence yesterday. I wasn't even crying yet at that point.

Still got some blood in the mouth after yesterday's smacking.

The good news is, that help is on the horizon. Big Sexy's ceremonial first pitch on the anniversary of him taking away James Shields' soul in San Diego was not *that* bad, especially compared to what Lucchesi, Peterson, and Megill routinely toss up there, so he should be able to make a fast-track comeback if he chooses to.

In fact, the kid with the broken arm, whose cast Bartolo signed before the game, looks like a nice righty and a total gamer and could be slotted in for the final start in Cincy on Thursday *as is*.

Yes, I took that screenshot during the game thinking, hey, if Lucchesi's gonna lucchesi, I can turn this one into a bitter pun, then forgot to actually do it.

Guy in the blue shirt can be his designated water carrier, since that is where baseball is ******* heading anyway.

I feel with Buck. I would have tried to get run in the second inning rather than the fifth, though.

Signs that the end is near: the Mets signed Gary Sanchez to a minor league deal.

Someone please end my pain.

The "good" news: now that the [insert every expletive ever] DH is in the NL, there's no reason for Sanchez to ever play the field again. So if he hits, he can get ABs.

(At least he's younger than Ruf [is he still with the Mets?] and trimmer than Vogelfat, right?)

Darin Ruf was released so he could go back to the Giants, from where we got him in the first place for J.D. Davis and three ******* pitchers.

That is rather ironic, considering how you helped me dump on him when he was a Yankee.

Practically no one wants him; he cannot get a major league deal and the Giants let him leave after he batted his usual .164 with only one extra-base hit in 16 games ... in Triple-A.

With Alvarez doing well, Sanchez's only hope at a shot with the Mets is if Nido continues to stink at bat. And that's only until Narváez returns from his injury.

Sanchez was a decent hitter early in his career, but pitchers seem to have "solved" him or his skills eroded. And behind the plate, well, you know.

We need a thread where we can only post after each of us are at least two drinks in.

But I have a feeling it would be locked within 24 hours.

Or banished to O.T.-land. We better get back to sports before we (I) ruin these guys' wonderful thread. How 'bout them Mets, eh? Gotta love those miserable bums.

Mets win, which I think qualifies as reason to stop drinking for 24 hours, but I'm sure they'll lose another game eventually.

May 10: C Tomás Nido placed on 10-day IL with vision issue; C Michael Perez selected from Triple-A Syracuse; RHP Elieser Hernández transferred to 60-day IL
An unspecified eye issue had been bothering Nido, especially at night, which manager Buck Showalter thinks has affected him at the plate lately. Nido is slashing .118/.148/.118 this season and has one hit in his last 10 at-bats.

https://www.mlb.com/news/mets-injuries-and-roster-moves
The issue might be that he's playing for the Mets, and keeps rubbing his eyes a lot because he can't believe what he's seeing around him.

Can we just send Senga back to the League That Can't Be Named?

Fret not. As the Phillies proved last year, the regular season pales in significance. The only task is to make the playoffs. Wild Card is fine. Last year those 100 wins for the Mutts and more than that for Atlanta meant exactly nothing. That Division title for St. Louis did not prevent them getting swept. You only have to be good enough to make the (expanded) postseason, and then be the best team in October/November.

Didn't think you'd be calling Trevor Williams "the One Who Got Away", huh?

Also, nice to see Corbin continuing to pitch about as well as Jeremy Corbyn. (To be fair, Jeremy is turning 74 in 15 days. What's Patrick's excuse?)

Which is one of the myriad reasons I no longer watch this crap. Eat me, Rob Manfred.

(I currently have no idea what the Mets' record is. And sadly, I don't care to learn.)
