Whoops! I forgot the Top Prospects! Here, have that and the Team Position Rankings. Also, ignore the statistics. I simmed a day before remembering!

It's getting exciting as the the start of the regular season approaches. I must say you've come up with another brilliant name, now topping the Prospects list - Deerlord Fugivmee, just excellent!
The predictions are interesting, as I seem to remember thinking before last season that the Boys didn't have a great deal of depth and they probably had a fairly narrow window of opportunity. I like the fact that three of the top pitchers are on the squad, which has always had solid bats and there now seems to be one or two players - e.g. Murtagh, Swift - who lead me to think the window of opportunity may have opened a bit wider. I just hope being named favourites to win the SSS doesn't put a target on their backs but, as I believe someone famous said, back in the 20th century, "if you can't stand the heat, don't sit on the barbecue!"

For once, I think Pam has actually come up with some decent predictions. And by that, the predictions are in line with 2299.... and 2300 doesn't necessarily follow 2299, but it's the best we have.

Shame about the Rad Sox if that prediction holds though.

PAM definitely likes the Party Boys better this season. Last season, she did not predict the Party Boys to take the Brotherhood League. Of course, she was way off with Easy Town dropping off a cliff in 2299. She is seeing something I saw when I ran test leagues, that the Party Boys always seemed to be in the mix. There was one surprise team that would always come up and make noise, but that team always seemed to come from the SCA.

They have been a playoff team nearly every season now. At some point, they have to show they can turn the corner and take it all. The team is now a veteran team of playoff contenders, so the barbecue is on!

The Rad Sox are definitely not ready yet, but once their pitchers develop . . . they have had three #1 overall pitchers selected: Beachboy Nut, Eugene Gym, and Nuke Laloosh. Whokill Poole looks like he will develop, too, but I think the Sox should use him as trade fodder to build up their offensive depth. They do have some developing young players, but most of them are potential good, not current ratings good. I will be watching their progress, for sure. I find this team to be one of the most intriguing teams. With the higher than average Talent Change Randomness, I feel that they will have more spikes than busts and may be too powerful in time.

Yeah, you're right, despite the rebrand they still need to be thought of as a "work in progress". That's just the antithesis to how many modern rebrands go so maybe my expectations weren't right. It seems like in the modern era everybody's too instant gratification to really commit to a rebuild, so the patience is actually refreshing now that I think about it. Here's hoping they actually do a bit better than that abysmal prediction though still!

I have some foreknowledge not that I ran a few test saves of what some trends to look for. Like I mentioned before, there was always a surprise team in 2300 (never the Rad Sox) but a few different teams, always from the SCA that had a banner year. I never looked in depth for who or why, but it seems that Diamond City and/or Goodneighbor faltered each time with one or both missing the playoffs. Also, the Rad Sox start to be one of the better teams in all of those saves sometime before 2305. So, they are most definitely coming!

April 2300 - BNN Weekly Report - April 9

Let me see if I like this format. It may and probably will be tweaked as I experiment with what works best for me. I am going to try to sim a week at a time, but I also need to maximize the time it takes me. For now, I typed out scores. I wish that OOTP allowed all screens to have an "Open in Browser" button.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

9 April 2300

News from Around the League

Season Starts Without a Hitch

The 2300 CBO season has begun. While the other major league, the Nuka World League is still training their players and preparing for their start a week from today, the CBO has already seen some interesting baseball in the first five games of the 108-game season.

There have been no major events in the first week with all teams beginning regularly. The 2299 CBO Champions, the Diamond City Swatters, had a banner-hanging ceremony on opening day against the Jamacia Plain Red Rockets. Fort Hagen, who lost to the Swatters in the Sole Survivor Series, also congratulated their 2299 team on opening day against The Slog.

In other news, we have moved trades, injuries, and roster moves to the transactions section of our Weekly Report instead of featuring them as individual stories. Unless there is something outstanding--creature attacks, for example--there will rarely be news stories, especially for baseball-related injuries.

We are getting our footing here at the new BNN headquarters in Diamond City, but we hope you enjoy our new entertainment digest. BosCom is also expanding its news segments with News, Entertainment, Sports, and Weather forecasts around the Commonwealth. Tune in every day to Channel 1 of BosCom for its news programs with an hourly updates on BosCom and its intraweb terminal sites.

Analysis

Week One is in the books, and we honestly know nothing! One thing that we can see is that the Lexington Synths, Starlight Lady Killers, and Egret Ninjas collectively had the best Week One in wins and performance, all going 4-1 while having at least a +16 run differential.

One the bright side for league parity, no team secured two sweeps and then a Sunday win, with the only team eligible to do that being the Ninjas who started 4-0 but lost their first game yesterday. At the same time, no team was swept twice and then lost Sunday. In fact, no team was swept twice with every team getting their first win in the first four games. Currently five teams share the CBO lead of a 4-1 record, while five more teams are tied for the CBO's worst record at 1-4.

The defending champions, the Diamond City Swatters, started and finished the 2299 season as the best team, but they come in at #16 in the first Power Rankings after a 2-3 week. The Swatters split home series against both Jamaica Plain (#15) and Goodneighbor (#9).

The NCA's champions of 2299, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, enter as the #17 team after also going 2-3. The Shroud started by getting annihilated in two home games vs The Slog (#12) before edging out County Crossing (#19) twice at home. Fort Hagen then dropped their game yesterday at Easy Town (#14).

The Synths and Killers are both technically tied for the #1 spot due to their quality points, but we will give Lexington the edge because of a +18 run differential and feature them below in "Team Focus." They went 4-1 with a split against Salem (#7) and sweeping Easy Town, with a win yesterday at Finch Farm (#22). Starlight split with the Assaultrons before sweeping the Four Leafs and winning one at County Crossing.

The other three 4-1 teams are Nordhagen Beach, University Point, and the Ninjas. The Party Boys won two at Abernathy (#21), which has had a terrible 1-4 start after going 6-0 in the Nuka Cup Tournament to win the banner; split with Concord (#13); and beat Abernathy again yesterday. The new-look Deathclaws won two at Oberland (#6), who has won three-straigh since; split at FHE (#8), also 3-2; and then downed the Ninjas to stop their four-game winning streak. Actually, the Deathclaws probably should be #1 since they beat three teams four times that are collectively 10-5 with four of those five losses coming against University Point. Egret swept Atom (#20) and Warwick (#23) before succumbing to the Deathclaws.

Team Focus: Lexington Synths

The Lexington Synths play in what may prove to be a tough Institute League in 2300. With the reigning league champions, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and two other teams expected to be good in the Starlight Lady Killers and the Abernathy Adamantium, the Synths will have a tough 2300 to show they belong like in 2297 when they won the IL. With a strong start to the 2300 campaign, albeit against a weaker league in the Brotherhood League, the Synths are flying their banners a little higher than the rest.

Crooked Tostado, who has been one of the better home run hitters in the CBO since being drafted in the 1st round (#13) overall in the 2296 Inaugural Draft, has started out the 2300 campaign on fire. With six home runs in the first five games, including two on Thursday against Easy Town and another two yesterday at Finch Farm, Tostado earned Player of the Week honors in the NCA. He currently leads the CBO in homers and RBI (13), making him a force in why the Synths have been so good thus far. Lexington is also currently 1st in homers as a team (11) thanks to Tosatado. Bubb Islander has also contributed, batting .409 in the first week and tied for second in the CBO in runs scored (7) and doubles (3). The rest of the lineup can do better, but C Mike Davidson had a good week, going .286 vs his career batting average of now .205.

Pitching is worth talking about, especially with Tristan Marble trying to solidify himself as an ace. In two starts this season, he is 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA, outdueling Tony Bertha of Salem on opening day and then shutting out the Assaultrons for 5.1 innings on Friday. With 12 runs allowed, the Synths are currently tied for 1st with Nordhagen Beach for the fewest. Lexington also has an NCA-best 1.69 Starters ERA and their bullpen is tied for 2nd with a 0.69 ERA. Greg Mardis (1-0) has also contributed by allowing only one run in 12.2 innings in his two starts.

2300 - BYDL - Outstanding Prospects

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

9 April 2300

BYDL - Outstanding Prospects

Each week, we here at BNN will feature some of the Boston Youth Development League players showing their potential.

North Region
Concord-Lexington Second Baseman Picked NR Player of the Week: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the North Region, but last week Tom Hopsman of the Concord-Lexington Minuteboys reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Hopsman rocked opposing pitching for a .517 average (15-for-29), 5 home runs and 9 RBIs to come away with the award.

South Region
Duffin Bags SR Best Player Award: So far in his young career, Tyler Duffin has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the South Region in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.

The 15-year-old State House Orphans first baseman hit at a torrid .462 clip as he collected 12 hits in 26 at-bats, 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

Senior Report

Below are some of the seniors (4th-year players in the new 4-year BYDL arrangement) who are expected to be top draft picks in 2300.

3B Bulleye Shooterson, South Beach Waves - .227/.469.500, 5/22, 2 HR, 7 R, 3 RBI.
Scouting Report: Raw power, chance to be a run producer. Aware of the strike zone and can work the count. Swings for fence too much, needs to work more on hitting to the situation. Potential to work his way into a starting role in time. Will never be a standout on defense but will not hurt the team either. Hard worker who will want to be in the mix regardless of the situation. Adapts well to his environment. Considered a baseball rat.

SP Quest Dawg, Hester Mechanists - 0-0, 1.42 ERA, 2 GS, 12.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 6 BB, 14 K
Scouting Report: Finesse pitcher who will rely on his changeup to be a top pitcher. Great movement and control potential will make him a tough in-out pitcher in time. Needs to work hard on avoiding the middle of the plate. Already commands four pitches well, but his curveball is not ready yet to show off in the BMU next season. Really smart and understands the game. Will be loyal to his team and takes what he gets. Works hard to improve his game, which will almost assuredly make him a 1st-round pick.

RF Orcin Cardinal, South Beach Waves - .333/.533/.667, 7/21, 2B, 2 HR, 2 R, 9 RBI
Scouting Report: A future home run boon. Waits for his pitch and rarely swings at bad pitches. However, his uppercut swing makes him miss too many hittable balls. He needs to work on hitting off-speed pitches better since those seem to throw off his swing. Not always focused nor interested. Will need to prove he is a hard worker and can change his game before he can hope to be a top pick.

CF Da Game, Andrew Station Southies - .308/.379/.423, 8/26, 3 2B, 5 R, 3 BB
Scouting Report: Speedy. Loves to put the bat on the ball, whether for a bunt or a drive to center field. Will probably hit for average in time once he learns to better find the gaps. Looks to be a good centerfielder wth good range and a good glove. Not the leader type, so needs to run with the best crowd to remain on the right track. Sometimes loafs on the practice field. Coaches will need to work him hard to his potential.

2B Zach Thorne, Fraternal Post 115 Leaders - .333/.367/.704, 9/27, 2B, 3 HR, 7 R, 10 RBI
Scouting Report: Hard-hitting infielder that could see him playing 2B or 3B in the CBO. Arm strength not great, but has the frame to improve it. Patient at the plate, which can sometimes lead to walks, but prefers to swing early in the count. Will punish first-pitch fastballs. Stable work habits, but loses focus too often. Needs coaches that will keep him interested and challenged.

I've held off commenting until I actually saw the "final product" (though as you said, some tweaks are probably still coming, and that's understandable), but I do think the weekly format is better. I mean you have your reasons for it, but I think from a readability format it's just better too, which is good for us as well. Updates might not be as frequent, but the "information density" is higher and I think that's better for posting whatever narrative develops.

Thanks for the kind words!

April 2300 - BNN Weekly Report - April 16

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

16 April 2300

News from Around the League

9 April 2300 - Greentop’s Bigfish Attacked by Ghoul

Greentop Nursery SS Moby Bigfish was slightly injured when accidentally encountering an inert ghoul. When smoking behind the Galleria visiting players’ dorms, Bigfish riled the ghoul awake. The ghoul scratched him on the face, but he was able to escape before the robotic security force dispatched of the beast. Bigfish will probably miss the first week of action while he is treated against infection.

16 April 2300 - That's All She Wrote: Career Over for Beerholder

This is not how Danny Beerholder wanted his career to end -- with an injury. He wanted to go out on his terms. Instead, a torn labrum has forced him to retire from baseball. The Sunshine Tidings starting pitcher plans to meet with the media later this afternoon. In the meantime, he released a brief statement, in which he acknowledged the support of "the organization, the training staff, my teammates, and all the fans."

Beerholder was originally drafted by the Starlight Lady Killers in the 13th round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft. He was part of the “Tony Bertha Trade” that sent him along with Bertha to Sunshine Tidings one month after the draft. With the Chemists, he worked his way up from a part-time pitcher in 2296 to a regular reliever in 2297 to a starter in 2298, winning 14 games (14-6). Beerholder came back to earth a little more in 2299, going 6-8, along with earning his only career save in his one relief appearance. This season, he was 0-1 in three starts, but sported a 3.18 ERA before his injury.

At 26, Beerholder could work his way back into baseball, but he seemed to indicate he was ready to move onto something else. His statement was simply, “I’m done pitching.”

Analysis

The Lexington Synths remain at the top of the Power Rankings after a second-straight 4-1 week, placing them in sole possession of the CBO’s top record. Goodneighbor did what they do best, winning, going 4-1 on the week to move into the #2 spot. The Hancocks split a home series with the FHE Yao Guai (#3), the team we will feature below in “Team Focus.” The Yao Guai also went 4-1 with the week with the split and wins at Atom (#15) and two at Warwick (#24) in a road week.

The Brotherhood League’s Nordhagen Beach and The Slog take up the next two spots in the Weekly Rankings. After completing the sweep of Abernathy (#17), the Party Boys split home series with Sunshine Tidings (#18) and Starlight (#9). The Ghouls had a 4-1 week with their only loss a 13-innings battle against the #1 team.

The most surprising two teams struggling in the first two weeks are at the bottom of the Institute League currently. Fort Hagen (#21) is the most surprising with an apparent Sole Survivor Series hangover. The Silver Shroud went 1-4 after Easy Town (#8) completed the sweep, got swept at Salem (#11), and spilt a series with Finch Farm (#23). Things don’t get easier for the Shroud, either, before league play as they face off with their rivals, the Party Boys, in the midweek games. Abernathy improved their lot slightly, going 3-2 on the week, with losses at Nordhagen Beach, sweeping the Four Leafs, and then splitting the weekend series at County Crossing.

Looking at individual players’ statistics, there are a few players starting out nicely. At the plate, The Slog’s Boots Yellowhair (.529/2/10) is looking like an early MVP candidate. The Yao Guai’s Joe Rathmann (.424/5/12), featured below, has also looked to be an early SCA Nuka-Hitter Award candidate. Diamond City’s Oren Gep (.429/5/12), Vault 81’s Aesed Hayjen (.500/3/12), and Quincy’s Steve Gunkill (.512/2/8) are all touching all bases through their at-bats. Ashfire of Atom (.400/7/16), the SCA Player of the Week, has taken over the CBO lead in both homers and RBI.

On the mound, FHE’s Peak Sizeman (2-0, 0.89), featured below, is looking to be a beast in his first three starts. Lexington’s Greg Mardis (1-0, 0.92) has also had a stellar start to the 2300 campaign.
Goodneighbor’s Quincy Eloquent (3-0, 2.16) is hitting on all cylinders early, though obviously not as dominant as Sizeman and Mardis. The Synths’ Tristan Marble (3-0, 3.10), Starlight’s City Moore (3-0, 2.63), and Vault 81’s Josh Mustang (3-0, 5.76) are all 3 for 3 in their starts. FHE’s Jonathan Drumlin is the early-season saves leader (6 for 6 attempts) despite having a 6.00 ERA. He has actually brought down the team ERA with four earned runs allowed in 6.0 innings. Salem’s Dan Beantown (0.00, 4 SV) has been the most dominant of the closers in the early season.

Team Focus: FHE Yao Guai

At 7-3, you could say that the FHE Yao Guai are an early surprise in the CBO. Sure, the season is not quite 10% of the way through, but the Yao Guai are currently a game ahead in the Railroad League over Vault 81 and the defending CBO champions, the Diamond City Swatters.

The biggest impact of FHE’s success has been their outstanding starting pitching, especially Peak Sizeman. In three starts, Sizeman is 2-0 witth a 0.89 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched. He has allowed two earned runs on 13 hits with 12 walks and 15 strikeouts. Sizeman is the main reason for the SCA-best 2.94 (only second-best to Nordhagen Beach at 2.93) Starters ERA. Bow Rome continues to be one of the CBO’s best pitchers with the worst run support. In 2300, he is 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA in three starts, allowing seven earned runs in 20.0 innings.

The offense needs to get better before this team is truly considered a contender. Joe Rathmann seems to be holding his part, batting .424/5/12 to make the offense go round. After Rathmann? Well, Tyler Shoemaker (.333/0/3) and Noah Arch (.324/2/9) are the only two players helping the offense 9th in SCA in runs (48) and 10th in batting average (.249). Po Greenzone (.103/0/2) and Nick Waterpipe (.171/0/3) have been a detriment to the offense, so the Yao Guai need them to break out of their early-season slumps to make this team dangerous.

April 2300 - BNN BMU Weekly Report

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

16 April 2300

News Around the League

10 April - BMU News: Opening Day: It's Opening Day in Boston Minor Union!

The brand new 2300 pennant race begins today. The clubs are poised and primed for another new season of baseball filled with plenty of spills, chills, hits, runs, errors and homers. Another exciting season kicks off with these games:

Greentop Nursery Night People @ Galleria Robotics Experts
Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters @ Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks
Breakheart Banks Behemoths @ Malden Grognaks
C.I.T. Ruins Refractors @ Corvega Flamers
Union Hope Lifegivers @ Bunker Hill Gun Fu
Mystic Pines Raybathers @ College Square Nerd Ragers
Cabot House Rayguns @ Haymarket Mall Commandos
Charles View Cannibals @ Trinity Plaza Snipers
Postal Square Action Boys @ Boston Common Lead Bellies
Eastlake Aquaboys @ Somerville Place Sentry Bots
Fiddler's Green T-60s @ Natick Banks Big Leaguers
Forest Grove Pugilists @ Vault 95 Robobrains

10 April - Laloosh Hurls Forest Grove to Shutout Win

Nuke Laloosh of the Forest Grove Pugilists was lights-out in a 4-hit whitewash of the Vault 95 Robobrains.

"I had my good stuff and it went where I wanted it to go," he told BNN reporters after the contest.

Laloosh registered 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in shutting out Vault 95, 2-0.

12 April - Commandos Listless in 6-0 Loss to Rayguns

Today was Copper Geffre's turn in the rotation for the Cabot House Rayguns and he made the most of it, shutting out the Haymarket Mall Commandos on 4 hits.

The 19-year-old right-hander led the Rayguns to an easy 6-0 victory, allowing no walks and tallying 7 strikeouts.

"I hope we miss him next time," Haymarket Mall manager Squirt Becker said. "Geffre certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."

Players of the Week

CA Names Strongbacks Heat Winner: Keagan Heat is respected by most Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks fans for his no-frills style of play. The 32-year-old shortstop went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Commonwealth Association Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .529 average (9-for-17) with 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Brownell Week's Best in MA: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Massachusetts Association, but last week Dusty Brownell of the Boston Common Lead Bellies reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Brownell rocked opposing pitching for a .692 average (9-for-13), 5 home runs and 14 RBIs to come away with the award.

Prospect Spotlight

#2 - CF Maxx Murtagh, Greentop Nursery (Nordhagen Beach) - 3/15 (.200), HR, 3 R, RBI, 2 BB, 8 SO, CS
Analysis: Murtagh is hitting the ball hard but not finding the gaps in a slow start to 2300. Last season he finished with a .229/.385/.358 line with 7 HR and 24 RBI. The Nordhagen Beach franchise believes that his hits will come, but they are allowing him to experiment with his swing. He has plus-potential in contact and power, so the Party Boys want him to feel it and they feel that he can be similar to another recent call-up, Jonathan Angelou.

#4 - SP Eugene Gym, Forest Grove (Roxbury) - GS, 0-1, 19.29 ERA, 2.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, BB, 4 K
Analysis: Gym was disappointed to be passed over by Laloosh as the ace for the Pugilists and came out with a terrible showing in a short start. After going 2-6 with a 9.40 ERA as the #1 overall pick last season, Roxbury is hoping to see him "get it," which he has yet to show.

#8 - SS Tib Shorthop, Galleria (Finch Farm) - 6/26 (.231), 2 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 7 SO, SB
Analysis: Shorthop is not on this list because of his hitting but because he is a defensive expert. Should he start in the CBO, he would hit in the .1XX range but also probably win the Corvega Top Defenders Award at shortstop. Still, before he is ready for the big time, it would help that he takes instructions and learns how to hit.

#11 - LF Whiskey Nightcap, Union Hope (Lexington) - 6/18 (.333), 2 2B, HR, 5 R, 3 RBI, 3 SO, 2 SB
Analysis: Nightcap had a good first week for the Lifegivers. Started on Lexington's roster, but they decided to send him down right away to build his skills and come back as a starter and, as they hope, a star.

#13 - RF Gunner Eyesocket, Haymarket (Jamaica Plain) - 7/17 (.412), 2 2B, HR, 3 R, 3 RBI, BB, SO
Analysis: Jamaica Plain is crazy about what they believe Eyesocket will eventually provide to their CBO team. They expect him to be a .300+ hitter with around 20 HR per season, which would be a tremendous help to the CBO team. Currently, the Red Rockets are strongest in the outfield, though, so there is no room for Eyesoccket just yet.

2300 - BYDL - Outstanding Prospects

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

16 April 2300

BYDL - Outstanding Prospects

Each week, we here at BNN will feature some of the Boston Youth Development League players showing their potential.

North Region
Player of the Week: Beerthirty's Kearns: Cope Kearns burst onto the North Region stage in a big way last week. This promising rookie shortstop for Beerthirty garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy.

The 15-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .519 (14-for-27) with 5 home runs and 11 RBIs last week.

South Region
SR Player of the Week Selected: So far in his young career, Magnum Peaeye has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the South Region in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.

The 15-year-old Diamond City Newsboys right fielder hit at a torrid .455 clip as he collected 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Junior Report

Below are some of the juniors (3rd-year players in the new 4-year BYDL arrangement) who are expected to be top draft picks in 2301.

SP Tiger Fanne, Green Future Sea Urchins - 3 GS, 1-1, 4.05 ERA, 20.0 IP, 21 HA, 9 ER, 4 HR, 8 BB, 25 K
Scouting Report: Relies heavily on fastball and changeup to fool hitters but will need to refine more pitches to be a top prospect. Does not have good stuff but may have the best control in the BYDL. He is considered to be a future starting rotation pitcher but more likely as a 3 or 4 rather than ever becoming an ace. He is considered to be a good teammate who works on the flow of the dugout. He can adapt well. Family escaped a raider camp in Connecticut, so has experienced high-stress situations.

1B Scott Baldman, Beantown Sprouts - 14/45 (.311), 3 2B, 3 HR, 10 R, 6 RBI, 9 BB, 13 SO
Scouting Report: Good contact and great power already means he will probably be a middle of the lineup guy. He also exhibits a good eye, which will make OBP scouts happy. Even though he plays 1B, he is considered athletic and could expand his horizons in the BYDL or BMU. Focuses on the negatives on the positives, so he is not always fun to be around. He is bright and vocal, so people know how he is feeling. May run into laziness troubles at some point that could influence his development.

LF Abell 11-98, South Charles Bank Moonies - 20/49 (.408), 8 2B, 3B, 4 HR, 14 R, 16 RBI, 9 BB, 9 SO
Scouting Report: Increasing his stock with his strong junior effort in just 12 games. He is a patient hitter who can wait for the right pitch. Able to punish the ball and has shown that so far with his 13 extra-base hits. Can work the count well, which can help his OBP. May need to work more on being a better situational hitter before he gets his shot but could also develop into a middle lineup hitter. Has some greed issues, especially when it comes to being the center of attention. Will "one-up" others often. Shows off on the practice field, making the coaches question his desire to improve. Thinks he is already the best.

SP Exxie Summerset, South Beach Waves - 3 GS, 1-1, 3.72, 19.1 IP, 14 HA, 8 ER, 2 HR, 9 BB, 24 K
Scouting Report: History of violence makes some teams question his stock for the CBO. Has worked hard to overcome that, turning his attention to baseball where he has thrived. With the right coaching, should stay on the right track. He has three good pitches, which could make him a future CBO starter. Sometimes loses command of his pitches, leading to an abundance of deep counts and walks. Probably looking at being a fringe SP/RP with the possibility to move into a regular at the bottom of the rotation.

C Jackob Blacke, Kendall Hospital Yahoos - 7/24 (.292), 2B, 3 HR, 6 R, 7 RBI, 7 BB, 3 SO
Scouting Report: A power-hitting catcher will drive up his stock. His best asset at bat is his strike zone recognition. It's his best asset as a defensive player, too. He needs to work more on his contact, but he hits the ball hard when he does. More likely to climb up the ladder because of his power. Not strong defensively. A bit slight body, so he could use more bulk to be a true catcher. Shows good skills, but appears to get bored behind the plate. May need to be taught to call his own pitches at the next level.

NWL Season 2 Premiers Today with a Single Game

The baseball fan's call to action -- "Play Ball!" -- can be heard across Bradberton with the arrival of Opening Day. At long last the 2300 season is getting underway with what promises to be another exciting season of baseball. With changes to rules to help batters find more success, we are hoping to have exciting baseball much different than the Season 1 campaign. After the Quartz Star Force won the first Nuka Series 4 games to 0 over the Cherry Ghoulrillas, we are excited what the 2300 season has to bring.

Here is today's schedule of games:

Quantum Nukalurks @ Cherry Ghoulrillas

Preseason Predictions

Thanks to the Baseball News Network for tabulating the results and offering their picks. It looks like the second Nuka Series participants are predicted to be the Cherry Ghoulrillas and the Victory Cave Crickets.

I'm loving the weekly reports (hope you are too). Even though we have to wait longer for content, it's well worth it as the reports are really well done. Enjoying the BYDL reports too, builds excitement for the draft. Excited for another season!

I, and thus Nate Howard, just took a long vacation to the East Coast, so the updates were far longer between updates than expected. I am, however, working on Week 3 of the CBO at this moment since we returned yesterday evening.

Historic Offensive Performance in 28-0 Dark Victory

It was a historic offensive performance for the Dark Bloodworms as they cruised over the Orange Tourists, 28-0, in the second game of the season for both teams. The Bloodworms scored their runs thanks to 20 hits, including five home runs, and walking 12 times.

"This was unbelievable," Dark manager Jose Castillo said. "I told the guys to swing at good pitches and watch bad ones like they did yesterday. I didn't imagine this."

Outfielders Adam Brewer and Steve Fireball each had four hits. 1B Just Salvage drove in six runs, including a three-run home run. C Mitchell Dominguez drove in seven, with a grand slam and three-run homer.

Pitcher Warren Gee, though, was the hero of the game. He pitched a complete-game four-hit shutout, striking out five. He also was 3 for 5 from the plate, including a grand slam, a walk, two runs scored, and four RBI.

It was great, and there was a Boston connection to my trip, thus a Fallout 4 connection. We went to a Greenville (SC) Drive game, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. They have their own Green Monster in Fluor Field.
