Mets played the Tigers, Rockies, and Reds, and went 2-7.

Meaning at least one of those three teams swept us.

Well done, men! Fine work!

OT Fun Fact: Jim Peterik, who played lead guitar for Survivor and wrote that song (and all their hits, and most of .38 Special's, to boot), was actually the lead singer for the Ides of March over a decade before. That's him singing "Vehicle".

For some reason, Peterik didn't sing for Survivor, even though IMO he has a better voice than Dave Bickler (who sang "Eye of the Tiger") or Jimi Jamison, whom they hired after Bickler needed vocal-nodule surgery and the band fired him rather than go on hiatus after they'd finally gotten hot.

(Jamison sang "The Search is Over", which is almost ironic, as the band had hired him when they were in desperation mode.)

My favorite from Survivor was always more Burning Heart.

...which I also get from watching the miserable Mets.

Well, you could do a whole Mets playlist, I'm sure.

"Tell Me Why" (The Beatles)
"Foolish Heart" (Steve Perry)
"Heartbreaker" (Led Zeppelin)
"Heartbreaker" (Pat Benatar) (a different song)
"Loser" (Beck)
"Here I Go Again" (Whitesnake)
"96 Tears" (Garland Jeffreys)

It's probably been a while since the Mets have finished exactly 66-96, but even so…

"Same Old Song and Dance" (Aerosmith)
"I'm Going Down" (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band)

…okay, that's more appropriate for my Leicester City Foxes likely crashing out of the EPL, but we could use it for various flops on their way back to Syracuse

"Welcome to My Nightmare" (Alice Cooper)
"Hell" (Squirrel Nut Zippers)

…and so on…

And hey, once the fans get tired of Uncle Stevie and his overpaid underachievers, we can close with a three-course banquet:

https://youtu.be/z8a8nbTjwnI (Krokus song, 1983)
https://youtu.be/fS1bRgzTajI (Motörhead song, 1987)
https://youtu.be/FDZSUCYKMVk (Aerosmith song, 1993)

Chow down, friends!

We should be open to new ideas.

Has Lucchesi tried pitching right-handed? Because left-handed, he sucks.

Gee thx, a 31-11 team. We can barely contain the .370 Senators III.

Breathtaking comeback win (yes, I entered an L into my pocket schedule at least three times), and not the first this week! Meeeeeets!!

Pete with that raucous grand slam now has tied Lucas Duda for most homers at Citi, which was strange to hear, because I swear I had Bryce Harper on top of that list...

Ottavino and Robertson must be - with Boom-Boom incapacitated - the most useless back end in the league.

I suspect this is the 2023 theme for the Metsies, when one part stops sucking some other shortcoming will show itself. Like, it's really fun to watch 10-9 wins, but the offense won't do that every night although the mid-pen is up to the challenge of allowing that many.

I will say I'm thrilled to see different names on the roster and in the lineup. For all the handwringing about Alvarez' defense he's looked fine to me, and Gary Freaking Sanchez is around too (although I hope he's mostly set to be the Darin Ruf platoon guy at DH). They were smart to just bring him up and see what he does when he was getting ready to walk (although... how many more organizations are there?).

Sorry about Locastro and hope they called Madison B. to see if he felt like sweating in Syracuse long enough to become a reliever/mop up guy. But I imagine he'll cash checks and chase cows instead.

The Mutts released the Sanchize just 6 at bats onto his NYC career. A pox on all their houses!

Good!

Six at-bats, two wild pitches, and one passed ball - it's not like he didn't give his all.

Bum.

Anyone know what Tim Tebow's up to?

Well, I think Timbo's still paying his beard ("wife"), so he must think he still has a career, at least.

The Mets scored enough to even have Cookie Crumbles pitch into the seventh inning and still got a W - huzzah!

Now off to Stratosphere Park. That'll do the staff good.

(makes a note to use that Cookie Crumbles thing in his Daily Mets run as soon as necessary)

"Cookie Crumbles and Boom-Boom" sounds like a 70s buddy cop movie!

The Cubbies look significantly less bad than they've been in recent years but the 2 out of 3 still isn't too inspiring. I will say it's nice to see Scherzer and Verlander on the same rotation projection for one series, but as you say leave it to the Metsies to have that happen in the most oxygen-challenged park in the league
