It didn't take long for outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela to show he's ready to return to the majors after beginning an injury rehab at AAA Memphis.
The 28-year-old belted three home runs in his first game with the Redbirds, in a 10-4 victory over Gwinnett, to prompt his recall to the majors. Rafaela had been out since May 31 when he suffered a hamstring strain in a 4-2 win over the New York Mets. Thus far in 2029, Rafaela has hit .261 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs in his first season with St. Louis. He has played in 46 games/45 starts. Outfielder Deundre Jones has returned to Memphis. In two stints in the majors this season, he has played in eight games/five starts and hit .118 with two RBIs. |

The St. Louis Cardinals have placed middle infielder Nico Horner on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a hamstring injury in a 9-8 loss to the Houston Astros on June 14,
Horner, 32, was hitting .229 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 53 games/49 starts at the time of his injury. Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 25-year-old Dean Curley. Taken in the first round of the 2025 draft by the Cardinals, Curley has hit .295 with 15 home runs and 37 RBIs in 52 games/50 starts between AAA Memphis and AA Springfield this season. |

The St. Louis Cardinals have called up AA A prospect PJ Morlando from AAA Memphis.
A third-round selection in the 2027 draft, Morlando has quickly risen through the minor-league ranks. He has spent this season at AAA Memphis, where in 44 games/42 starts he has hit .292 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. The 23-year-old has spent most of his time behind the plate. He is expected to see most of his time either at first base or as a designated hitter. |
