Great photo....Wilson is one of my favorite baseball player/criminals. After baseball he was murdered in Minnesota allegedly following an argument with other criminals about the division of some ill-gotten funds. Records in St. Paul show 9 arrests for criminal activity, including robbery, forgery, and assault....one too many fouls off the face mask perhaps?

Bobby Doerr: the Last survivor of 1930s MLB

The death of Art Kenney last month means that Hall Of Fame Boston Red Sox' second baseman, Bobby Doerr, 96, is now the last living person who played major leagues baseball in the 1930s. Doerr broke into the majors and became an everyday player at the tender age of 19 for Boston in 1937 and played through 1951.
Any photos members could post of a young Doerr would be appreciated, particularly from his rookie year.

I have all of these tagged as being from 1937, the last one showing just a glimpse of his #9 uni, only worn in 1937.

Nice Doerr stuff.

Terrific photos of Doerr. - Thanks!
Doerr wore #1 throughout nearly all of his career. I didn't know he wore #9 as a rookie.

Never saw this down at the bottom of the list, sorry!

Took this one myself (Last week of August, 1979, Yankee Stadium)

My bad! I forgot to mark him off the list when you posted a larger version of this photo in January. Sorry!

Hank Workman

The youngest player on the newly revised Wikipedia oldest living major leaguers list is 10 year MLB veteran, Alex Grammas at #108 (Click EDIT to find supplemental list of players ranked #s 101-108). I assume collectively members have plenty of photos and baseball cards of Grammas.
The last man on the primary list, however, is a toughie. Currently At 100th oldest is Hank Workman, a NY Yankees first baseman whose entire MLB career consisted of two games for the Yanks in a September 1950 callup. Are there any photos of Workman out there?
(Both Grammas and Workman are now age, 88).

Topps Vault Beauties

Who'd have thunk it?

Joe Simpson/Dodgers AND Duke Sims/Yankees (and in 1974, no less; that's clearly a Shea Stadium background)

Crossed off the need list finally!

Thanks to the vault I can finally cross Eric Soderholm off my needed list in a road lt. blue uni, posed, knee high. All the criteria met and bonus-wearing a batting helmet! Also released was a Steve Barr in a Rangers Uniform from 1976. I don't collect that year, but I have always needed a Barr for the Red Sox in '74. Thanks to a John Curtis image and the Rangers image I can cross Barr Off my list too. (until a real one comes along) Yes, I know the stadium background is current, but I couldn't resist the Sox logo on the grass.
