WRVR Week 9 Series Recap
The Antique Globe with Rex, George, and Anne R: You are I your Antique Globe. No, let me restart that. 3, 2, 1. You are listening to "The Antique Globe." I AM your antique globe Rex Goodman, along with my co-hosts Anne Hargraves and George Cooper. In this series, we saw the County Crossing Bloodbugs come in and surprise the host The Slog Ghouls and win this series two games to one with a 7-6 victory by the Bloodbugs today. G: There may not be a whole lot for these two teams to go on, but it was a good series with two close games, including a late-game win. A: And the food here is surprisingly delicious. These ghouls know how to cook some delicious brahmin balls. Did you expect that? I certainly did not. R: On top of the excellent baseball and excellent food, The Slog’s stadium, Tarberry Fields Forever, probably has perhaps the most comfortable seating in the nine stadiums we have visited so far. I love these broadcast couches. A: Speaking of seats, can I jump in with my Bottoms Up Award for the week? Though there were no huge comebacks this time, like George mentioned, County Crossing got the series started with a ninth-inning victory in a 5-5 game. That cushy tushy hit man was none other than the Bloodbugs’ Mush Levy, who hit the two-run, game-winning home run. And, as you mentioned George, that is not considered a walk off. G: That’s right, Anne. A walk-off hit is when the home team wins the game in the bottom of the ninth or one of the extra innings. Since Levy had the home run in the top of the inning, it was just the game-winning hit. R: That grand information teaches us much about this complicated game. The grandest of thanks to you, George. G: No problem. Now let me light up the awards with the Outstanding Pitcher of the Week. We’re going to go right back to Game One where County Crossing’s Front Porch Potter got the win to go to 4-4 on the season. In 8 innings pitched, he allowed five runs, but only two were earned. He allowed five hits, walked five, and struck out six. R: That was a fine performance. And, we had no choice but to break one of our unwritten rules this week. You see, there was only one player who could win the Outstanding Player of the Week. That young man was Mushy Levy who won Anne’s award. Therefore, double congratulations to you. He hit 7 for 15 with four doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and three runs batted in. Here’s to you, young man, and keep up the grand efforts. Well, that will complete our broadcast this week. Next week, we will be near our home when we go to Vault 81 to watch the Egret Scrappers take on the Vault 81 Dwellers. I don’t know about you, Anne and George, but being here in The Slog has given me a little taste of uranium fever, so let’s complete this broadcast from the Charles River Trio with Elton Britt’s “Uranium Fever”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ANI6oj8p2M

Now, I am not prone to madness, at least not officially, genetically, but madness breeds incessantly in the wastes. The Dunwich corporation most certainly knew all about that madness. And in this universe per multiverse, there are so many things Nate Howard does not yet know. I know, but I cannot just tell Nate. Who would? The man has gone through enough by falling asleep like a tenfold Van Winkle in 2077 and then waking up in 2287 and the . . . other discoveries. What does all this mean? Simply put: madness. I am not prone to madness, but the fact that I am two months into this dynasty and not even halfway through the first season, and in two more months my workload increases to approximately 50-60 hours per week, this dynasty may be going nowhere fast. At least, those were my drifting-to-sleep thoughts. I think I am most impatient in seeing where this thing is going. And how, pray tell, do the other stories get told? Like Nate's buddy Valentine? He plays a role here. Or at least I want him to. Now, back to the present, which is so confusing to me, and so on. Kevin Containment done messed up, for if he had stayed with Vault 81 or played for any other team in the CBO, he would have probably just faded into irrelevance and nothing more. However, in my universe it is currently Sunday, May 31, and Containment and his teammates are about to arrive back in Nordhagen Beach for rest and practice and substance abuse. And Containment is going to see that flyer after he has been told about that flyer. And his teammates are going to laugh and rib him and not really care much about it because they are just happy to have a fun job that does not include mercenary work or digging up plants or mixing up slop for the masses. They are going to tell him how he is a horrible pitcher but they love him anyway and would still offer their sister to him if he needs some company. They are going to continue drinking and laughing and having a good time on the beach restaurant where the first flyer was found. Containment, let's just call him Kevin because Containment is so formal and his own last name was used against him in the flyer and Publick Occurences publications. So, Kevin is going to smile and slowly sip on his Gwinnett Stout on the beach where the restaurant employees have pulled together several patio tables with umbrellas for the members of the Party Boys team. And the restaurant manager, let's call him Carl Beachson because he grew up right here on Nordhagen Beach and thus understands the culture of the beach life, thus making him perfect manager material for a beach restaurant, will say to the team, "I wanted to let you know that your drinks are on us tonight, except you, Containment." The manager will then laugh because he was joking about not paying for Kevin's drinks, and Kevin's teammates will laugh, and Kevin will give a quick, forced smile. But Kevin is dying on the inside. This game he plays is no game for him. He can hear the words of his father, "Success is short-lived. Failure is forever." The Party Boys will continue partying and will eventually ignore Kevin completely because he is sitting there quietly while nursing his Stout and his fractured ego. At that point in time when it is 1:33 AM, Kevin does not yet know that his teammates will all eventually stumble away into the dark towards their abodes or pass out right there on the beach. Kevin just knows that he is miserable and "failure forever" is ringing in his ears, stuck on repeat like a pre-War military radio broadcast. But, later, around 3:41 AM of Monday morning, the first day of the sixth month of the year 2296, he is going to stand up from the plastic chair he is sitting on, and then he will step into the water at Nordhagen Beach, a place that pre-War was called Winthrop, Massachusetts, into the former Massachusetts Bay of the Atlantic Ocean. He will walk out until he is forced to swim and then swim until he reaches a small sand dune island where he will arrive in the darkness at 4:07 AM. They do not know, but I know, that on that small island there was a shimmering blue color approaching Kevin. Kevin will think at first it is God or at least a god coming to end his pain, his failures. And he is right. But it is no god. It is a glowing mirelurk hunter, the mutated form of what was pre-War called a lobster and who is in league with the mirelurks that were once crabs in the unholiest of unions. Kevin will not even see the claws coming at his neck and pinching him instantly to death, will not feel those claws ripping him to shreds and moving pieces of his meat and clothing to its mutated mouth and feeding on his dead body. He will not feel the remaining carcass of his body wash right back to Nordhagen Beach three days later while the rest of the Party Boys were already at County Crossing for their next series, still wondering where Kevin ran off to, where his remains will be discovered, quite unironically by a man named Carl Beachson who made the final joke that convinced Kevin that he was unworthy to exist in this world or others, though his patience would have told him that hardly anything by me goes to completion and he could have unexisted with the rest of the entirety of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. And so on. When his team arrives back home from their series with County Crossing, which is still undetermined as of yet if they will win any games at all, they will learn the truth of Kevin. A Commonwealth-esque funeral will be held for Kevin and a gravestone will be erected for him but not on the beach because that is prime land, so he will be buried in the town area of the former Winthrop, Massachusetts. Most people of Nordhagen Beach will attend his funeral, including his 39 teammates on the Party Boys, Emogene Cabot, Carl Beachson, and Kellie Matthews, who had dated Kevin a couple of times after he arrived in Nordhagen Beach and really liked him. Not present will be a miserable young man who was bitter that he could not play baseball because he was born from an irradiated mother and one of his legs was 17 inches shorter than the other. His name was Dwayne McCormick, but everyone called him "Legs." On Kevin's tombstone, which will be erected on a Blue Monday on the eighth day of the sixth month of the year 2296, the incorrect date will be used as his death date. The tombstone will read like this: "Kevin Containment / July 14, 2272 - June 4, 2296 / RIP / Our Friend, / Our Party Boy." After the funeral, on the same night of Kevin's burial, Legs McCormick will waddle to Kevin's gravestone, and just like he did on the flyers he created, he will carve these words on the tombstone with a combat knife: "Can't Contain Anything." Years later, ironically, perhaps, or just coincidentally, Legs McCormick will happen upon a mirelurk nest on the beach where the mother and newborn hatchlings will feed on his flesh and his 17-inch-difference legs. And that is the story of Kevin Containment I know. Publick Occurences will not know the same thing, so their news story will look like this: "Party Boys Player Found Dead." They will conclude that it was suicide because of a terminal in Kevin's room where the following entry was written on his terminal: "Failure is forever." They will partially be right but not completely because Kevin did not know at that point he was committing suicide. He was just depressed. Nate Howard once found a terminal in an abandoned building while on a detour to the former pre-war town called Truro, Massachusetts, on a peninsula in the place the pre-war people called Cape Cod. He founded a youth baseball league there, too, where four teams battle it out for the Cornhill Cup. Some of those players will be 16 and eligible for the 2297 season. The terminal read like this:

2296 Week 9 - The Week in Review
Division leaders look secure for now, as well as the bottom feeders. The middle is a mess.

2296 Players of the Week - Week 9
1 June 2296 - Players of the Week
BL - Assaultrons Clawdodger BL Hitter of the Week: 26-year-old Frank Clawdodger sent shock waves through Brotherhood League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Brotherhood League Player of the Week Award. A 21st-round pick, Clawdodger made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .636 average, 7 hits in 11 at-bats, no home runs and 8 runs batted in. Where the East Boston Prep Assaultrons second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Clawdodger certainly made his mark last week. This year Clawdodger has hit at a .286 clip with 34 hits, 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored. IL - Robinson Honored by Institute League: So far in his young career, Jason Robinson has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Institute League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 19-year-old Concord Radstags first baseman hit at a torrid .462 clip as he collected 6 hits in 13 at-bats, 3 home runs, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. This year Robinson is batting .382 with 9 home runs and 29 RBIs. ML - Mirelurks Krol Snags ML Player of the Week: One of the league's most exciting young players, Brad Krol of the Warwick Mirelurks earned himself Minutemen League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 18-year-old second baseman had a lofty .417 average (5-for-12), collecting 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored. This year Krol is hitting .233 with 27 hits, 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and has scored 13 runs. RL - Great Week for Fairline Hill Estates's Nick Waterpipe: Nick Waterpipe burst onto the Railroad League stage in a big way last week. This promising 7th-round first baseman for Fairline Hill Estates garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy. The 26-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .643 (9-for-14) with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs last week. Waterpipe on the season is batting .301 with 4 home runs. His totals include 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has played in 27 games.

2296 Batters of the Month - May
1 June 2296 - Batters of the Month
BL - County Crossing's Mastodon BL #1 Batter in May: At only 16 years of age, Tom Mastodon could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career. That would be great news for fans of the County Crossing Bloodbugs, as May was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Brotherhood League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .458 with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 20 runs scored. IL - Robinson Snares IL Top Batter Award in May: It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Jason Robinson has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Concord Radstags star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the Institute League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .439 average with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored. ML - Atom Left Fielder ML's Best Batter in May: The Cats' 2nd-round pick in the Minutemen League, Jeremy Schoolboy put up some good numbers in May and earned the ML Batter of the Month award. He was one of Atom's offensive leaders with a .452 average in 14 games. He also racked up 3 home runs, 23 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. RL - Danse Wins RL's Best Bat Award: For the Scrappers' 1st-round pick, Paladin Danse certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the RL Batter of the Month award for May. The 30-year-old left fielder for the Egret Scrappers hit .525 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

2296 Pitchers of the Month - May
1 June 2296 - Pitchers of the Month
BL - Rocky Tabbed as May's Starter of the Month: 32-year-olds don't often go 4-0 in and haul away the best pitcher award, but Steve Rocky did all that. Now, he's the toast of the Brotherhood League. Today he was crowned the Pitcher of the Month for May. In 5 starts he posted a 4.46 ERA and struck out 25 batters in 38.1 innings. For the year, Rocky is undefeated, going 7-0 with a 4.17 ERA. IL - Radsco Grabs IL Top Pitcher Trophy: Chris Radsco hasn't been around long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Institute League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice. In May the Concord starter earned a 3-0 mark in 4 starts. He threw 26.2 innings, struck out 20 and compiled a solid 4.39 ERA. On the season, Radsco has now improved to 4-3 with a 6.35 ERA. ML - Oldsink Earns May's Best Pitcher Honor: Over the past month John Oldsink has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the more-heralded arms in the Minutemen League. He proved all that and now he's been named May's Pitcher of the Month. The 5th-rounder for the Goodneighbor Hancocks posted a 4-1 mark and a 2.17 ERA. In 5 starts he tossed 37.1 innings, permitted 46 hits and fanned 26 batters. Oldsink is 5-3 with a 4.76 ERA now. RL - Railroad League Announces May's Top Pitcher: The T-51s' 5th-rounder, Matt Udder, a 25-year-old starter for the Oberland T-51s, won the Pitcher of the Month award in the Railroad League. In May, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 4.82 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 37.1 innings, fanned 33 and held opposing teams to a .265 average. He is now 7-1 on the season with a 3.95 ERA.

2 June 2296 - News and Notes
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 2 June 2296 - Containment Missing The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys have been in search of closer Kevin Containment. After arriving back from their trip to Finch Farm, the Party Boys went to drink and relax at the Beach House restaurant. The next morning, Containment did not arrive at practice. Today, people around Nordhagen Beach are still searching for him. There were WANTED flyers found in Nordhagen Beach, so it is possible Containment is the victim of foul play. 2 June 2296 - The Slog-East Boston Prep Trade: Churchman for Radaway In an effort to add some depth to its roster, the The Slog Ghouls have swapped 32-year-old 3B Lou Churchman, 16-year-old RHP Chris Salazar and 17-year-old RHP David Pitones to the East Boston Prep Assaultrons for 26-year-old RHP Ryan Radaway. The Ghouls executive Mack O'Shea told reporters, "We saw a chance to upgrade our ball club and took it." Churchman is hitting .308 this year with no home runs, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He has 4 hits in 13 at-bats, 1 walk and a .400 on-base percentage. Churchman has played in 17 games. This season Radaway has been credited with no saves. In 8 relief appearances and 15.1 innings he has a 1-0 won-lost mark, a 5.28 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

Get to Know Your Settlements, Owners, and Corporations
Today in the CBO Settlements Today by Nat Wright-Kowalski 2 June 2296 - Egret Tours Marina Each Tuesday for the upcoming weeks through the playoffs, we will feature one of the settlements, teams, and owners of the Commonwealth Baseball Organization. This is meant to tell you more about life in the Commonwealth, as well as give you more information about the teams and their owners. In our eighth installment of "Settlement Today," I visited one of Nate Howard's favorite settlements, Egret Tours Marina. According to the intranet, "Before the Great War, Egret Tours Marina was a recreational marina several miles inland along the Charles River, southwest of Boston. "By 2287, the marina has become the home of Phyllis Daily, a hermit woman who is convinced she is a synth after accidentally killing her grandchild." (https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Egret_Tours_Marina). Egret Tours Marina, 2287. Today, Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina stands just beyond those buildings in the background. WRVR's studios are north of where this picture was taken, along the river's western banks. Today, Egret is known as the "impenetrable fortress, though the baseball stadium could be vulnerable to attacks, as well as an unlikely mirelurk infestations from the riverside. Though there are some farmlands outside the settlement, most of the settlers stay within the city walls. Mayor Ron Staples still runs the pier-side restaurant in addition to his mayoral and baseball duties, and most of the people living at Egret Tours Marina want it to stay just the way it is. Egret Tours Marina - 2296 - overhead shot from a vertibird. Check out this builder's, RunawayUmbrella, full settlement here - https://imgur.com/gallery/6PPzKYM#67lyOCX Owner - Ron Staples Ron Staples has not always been your conventional businessman, but his vision has led to opportunities. While set up at his one-man settlement near Walden Pond, Ron had dreams of being the best bartender in the Commonwealth. At first, Nate must have thought Ron was crazy, but then Nate decided he could use a good bartender at one of his favorite settlements, Egret Tours Marina. Ron agreed and moved there, where he became best friends with Egret Tours Marina matron, Phyllis, which most of the settlers called Old Phyllis. Soon after arriving and setting up the best bar in all of the Southwest on the Egret Tours Marina pier, Ron Staples was voted mayor of Egret Tours Marina. It's not the richest settlement in the Commonwealth, but it is a well-fortified sanctuary. All the Clothes in the Commonwealth Fallon's is a pre-War department store franchise that generally specialized in women's fashion. Billboards and advertisements can be found throughout the Commonwealth. Fallon's Basement in Diamond City [was] the company's post-War successor, ran by one of the original owner's descendants, Becky Fallon. Becky Fallon had legal rights to the company by pre-War standards, and since she ran the Fallon's Basement store, she had the know-how to convert the large Fallon's Department Store back to its pre-War glory. Now, the Fallon's line is the Commonwealth's sole producer and supplier of clothes for citizens' needs. There are clothing shops supplied by Fallon's in all settlements.

4 June 2296 - DCR Week 10 Preview
DCR – JAMAICA PLAIN TREASURES (7-20) AT UNIVERSITY POINT DEATHCLAWS (12-15) WHAT TO KNOW Both teams are bad and struggling. Rumors are swirling in Jamaica Plain since their owner does not even attend games anymore. University Point can get back in the wildcard race with a sweep. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM JAMAICA PLAIN Poor pitching and poor batting. The Treasures only have one player hitting over .300 when the league average is around .300. Their ace pitcher has yet to win a game. There is little hope for them not to finish as the worst team in the CBO. At least they can pick next year's best player. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM UNIVERSITY POINT Surprisingly, the Deathclaws are even worse than Jamaica Plain at scoring runs, but their starting pitcher is much better, meaning the Deathclaws should outscore the Treasures in every game. KEY PLAYERS IN THE SERIES JP: See Sea Grass—Right fielder David Seaweed is the one lone bright spot on the team, leading the Triple Crown categories for his team with a .363 batting average, 6 home runs, and 25 RBI. The next best hitter, Carney Cornseed, is batting .287. UP: Turn up the Jukebox – Deathclaws third hitter Jukebox Luttrell is hitting .339 with 7 home runs and 18 RBI. His batting average and home runs lead the Deathclaws. Should he get hot, University Point will carve up the Treasures pitching. PREDICTION: Deathclaws sweep unless the Treasures find a way to steal Game 2 or 3.

Call me hard-hearted, but despite your very touching account of KC's end - which I'm sure brought a tear to many an eye - I still can't bring myself to feel sorry for him. Well, not very sorry, anyway. Maybe it was just an accident of birth. Maybe if he'd been born Kevin Mowemdown, things would have worked out differently for him. R.I.P.

4 June 2296 - WRVR Week 10 Preview
WRVR – EGRET SCRAPPERS (16-11) AT VAULT 81 DWELLERS (10-17) KNOW THE STARS EGR: LF Paladin Danse – Danse may be the front-runner to win the Railroad League and entire CBO Player of the Year honors. He has been that good. Just looking at his basic stats, he is first on his team by .100 in batting average (.468 to Bill Chaney's .368), and he leads the team in home runs (11) and runs batted in (34). V81: 1B Erns Gold – If anyone could challenge Danse for the league's MVP award, Erns Gold may be the person. He is batting .327 today with 10 home runs and 34 RBI. Those five home runs doubles the second-best amount by any other Dweller. PLAYER VS PLAYER – GAME ONE LINEUPS AND STARTING PITCHERS TEAM ANALYSIS The Scrappers' strength is definitely their offense. With Danse leading the way, Egret has scored the RL's second-most runs (204) and are tied for first in power with 41 home runs. They may not lead any categories, but the Scrappers are in the top half of every offensive statistic in the RL besides stolen bases. Center fielder Bill Chaney is currently injured from an unspecified baseball injury, so he is unavailable for this week. The pitching has not been as good. The Scrappers are fourth in runs allowed (185), with the fifth-best starter ERA (6.72) and fourth-best reliever ERA (6.09). Usually, the Scrappers depend on high-scoring games to win. Vault 81, like Egret, is more adept in its offense than its pitching, meaning a high-scoring series is likely. The Dwellers will have to do better when it comes to keeping up with the Scrappers, something they did not do two weeks ago when they were swept by scores of 11-10, 10-4, and 13-7. They could hope for better with the Scrappers missing one of their key offensive players. Vault 81 has not been good in the RL in runs allowed, giving up the worst number of runs (214). Although the starters have not been devastating (4th in ERA at 6.54), the bullpen has allowed way too many runs (6th in ERA at 8.28). For the Dwellers to win the series for the first time this season against Egret, they will need better pitching. PREDICTIONS Dwellers 10, Scrappers 4 Dwellers 12. Srappers 7 Scrappers 10, Dwellers 8 CBO FULL SCHEDULE

I checked on what the Party Boys are doing for their pitching. It looks like they moved a reserve pitcher into the third starter position and moved third starter Ray Human into the closer role. They may need to blame offense more (sixes everywhere)! We'll see how they do at County Crossing.

June 2296 - News and Notes - 4 June
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 4 June 2296 - Milteer Hits in 20 Straight Games Chris Milteer of the Oberland T-51s extended his hitting streak to 20 straight games with 2 hits in today's 10-5 triumph over the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers at Graygarden Park. "Chris has been making it easy for me to pencil his name in the lineup every day," T-51s owner August Oberland joked after the game. Chris Milteer hit an RBI triple in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th and walked in the 7th. So far this year in 27 games Milteer is hitting .390 with 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and 32 runs scored. 4 June 2296 - 20-Game Hitting Streak for Mastodon Tom Mastodon ran his hitting streak to 20 straight games today at Beantown Brewery Stadium, when he collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats. The feat came, however, as the County Crossing Bloodbugs dropped the game, 8-4, to the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys in 11 innings. "Hey, the streak is great -- I hope it never ends," Mastodon said later. "But I'm not happy to lose the game." Tom Mastodon singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, and walked in the 9th. Mastodon is batting at a .455 pace this season, picking up 56 hits in 123 at-bats with 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 32 runs scored. 4 June 2296 - Cuttooth Blisters Atom Patty Cuttooth put on a hitting clinic today as the Warwick Mirelurks dumped the Atom Cats 9-7 at Coolest Field in Town. The Warwick left fielder made Atom defenders earn their pay, lashing Atom pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He announced on ESAU and the "Cool Cat," the Atom Cats Radio Network, after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it." "Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Cuttooth said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch." Patty Cuttooth singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th. So far this year Cuttooth is batting .344 with 1 home run.

June 2296 - News and Notes - 5 June
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 5 June 2296 - Junkman and Tech Fight, Suspended 8 Games Tommy Junkman of the Finch Farm Four Leafs was not happy with David Tech, and his frustration showed when he went after the East Boston Prep player during yesterday's game at Finch Family Park. Both benches cleared as they rushed to the aid of their teammates. Order was soon restored as Junkman and Tech were pulled away from each other. They were ejected from the game. Both players were suspended 8 games by the league office as a result of their tussle. "It's something that happens in baseball every once in a while," Junkman commented later. "We get frustrated with another player and sometimes things go too far. We'll both take our suspensions and then come back ready to play. I got no hard feelings." This season Junkman has delivered 29 hits in 99 at-bats for a .293 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .400 clip and his totals also include 21 RBIs and 13 runs scored. This year Junkman has played in 29 games. Tech has posted a 2-5 record for the year with a 5.56 ERA. Teams are hitting .331 against him and he has rung up 41 strikeouts in 56.2 innings. 5 June 2296 - Lobsterclaw in a Pinch Warwick Mirelurks backup first baseman Ron Lobsterclaw found himself in a predicament he should not have bargained for. Apparently, on one drunken night late last year, he signed up for a one-year extended tour of duty with the Brotherhood of Steel to begin on June 7, when he has to report to the Prydwyn at Boston Airport. Before joining the Commonwealth Baseball Organization, Lobsterclaw was a scribe for the Brotherhood of Steel. He worked mostly as a researcher, looking to collect various old-world books and other writings. When the chance to join the CBO came about, he gladly signed up to end his career in the Brotherhood. However, without Lobsterclaw or the Warwick franchise realizing it, Lobsterclaw had spent a late-December drinking function with his "boys" from the Brotherhood. That night, he got a "Brotherhood 4-ever" tattoo scrawled on his right calf and signed up for one more tour of duty. Mirelurks owner Roger Warwick said that he would speak to Commissioner Nate Howard and the higher-ups in the Brotherhood. However, he considers the effort "probably futile. They don't backtrack on commitments." In the meantime, the Mirelurks will need to find a new backup at first base. On the season, Lobsterclaw is 2 for 4 (.500) with a strikeout in five games played.

June 2296 - News and Notes - 6 June
Today in the CBO News and Notes - Reports from around the Commonwealth by Nat Wright-Kowalski 6 June 2296 - Great Stroke: Milteer Gets 5 Hits Chris Milteer led Oberland to a 26-5 victory today over the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers. He stroked 5 hits in 6 at-bats to spark his club in the win. Chris Milteer flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 7th. For the year Milteer has hit at a .412 clip with 21 RBIs, 4 home runs and 36 runs scored. 6 June 2296 - 6-for-7 Day for Byrd Diamond City Swatters center fielder Nasty Byrd really lit up the Fairline Hill Estates Yao Guai with a 6-hit barrage today at Yao Guai Circle -- a performance that sparked the Swatters to a 12-5 triumph in 12 innings. He shrugged off the performance after the game, saying "sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes." Nasty Byrd grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo shot off Tyler Powers in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th. Byrd is currently hitting at a .345 pace with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and has scored 24 times. 6 June 2296 - Human Superhuman in Weekend Wins While Nordhagen Beach deals with the unknown whereabouts of its closer, Kevin Containment, former starter Ray Human transitioned into his new role smoothly. It is not known if Human will remain in his current position, moving from the third starter for the Party Boys, where he had compiled a 3-3 record with a 5.67 ERA. However, the Party Boys got just what they needed from him in two appearances this weekend at County Crossing, both Nordhagen Beach victories in extra innings. In Thursday's game, Human entered a tied game in the 10th inning. After the Party Boys scored four runs in the top of the 11th inning to take an 8-4 lead, Human pitched the final inning to earn the win and move to 4-3 on the season. In the game, he pitched two innings, where he did not allow a hit, walked a batter, and struck out three. Today's game was a little more dramatic. Leading 7-4 entering the bottom of the 10th inning, Human pitched the final scoreless inning to earn the save, his first in one chance. However, with two outs, he allowed three straight hits in the inning before Joel Carrotflower flied out to deep right-center field with the bases loaded. It could have gone much differently had that ball carried only ten more feet. For the season, Nordhagen Beach now moves to 12-18, still leaving them two games behind Salem and County Crossing for fourth place. Still, the Party Boys will probably be happy to return home with a series win. Next week they host The Slog Ghouls, who are in second place in the Brotherhood League at 16-14.

DCR Week 10 Series Recap
The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week. This is "The Confidence Man Minute." I'm your confident host, Travis Miles. Let's talk about this weekend in the Minutemen League. With today's 13-7 count, the University Point Deathclaws won the series against the Jamaica Plain Treasures. With the win, the Deathclaws push their record to 14-16 on the season, which means they could be tied for fourth place with the Quincy Gunners, depending on the Gunners' game tonight at Goodneighbor. The Treasures fall to a CBO tie for worst with Shaw High School, who is losing 26-4 entering the top of the ninth inning and is most likely to lose. The Treasures are 8-22 with the loss, now six games back in the Minutemen League of the Deathclaws who currently hold fifth place. It will be a tough time for the Treasures to climb out of that position. They can be encouraged by their Game 2 win, though, where Mike Van Noord and Cody Flatt each pounded out two home runs and drove in 10 runs between them in the Treasures' 11-4 win. Otherwise, it was all University Point here at Gwinnett Brewery Park. Jukebox Luttrell continued to produce, including his 8th home run in Game One. Today, he was 4 for 5 with a double, a run, and three runs batted in. Jamie Pipegun did well from the leadoff spot, hitting his 5th home run of the season in Game One. Like Luttrell, he was 4 for 5 today with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI. Ace Quentin Malone pitched really well in Game One, allowing only one earned run and three runs overall in eight innings to move to 5-2 on the season. Next week, Jamaica Plain hosts Goodneighbor, while University Point will host the Atom Cats. As I am saying this, the 15-14 Cats lead 22-7 Warwick 5-3 in the top of the third of that game. Goodneighbor, who is 15-14, plays the 14-15 Quincy Gunners tonight. Next week, we at DCR are watching the Railroad League's Vault 81 Dwellers, currently at 11-18 and in fifth place, when they travel to the fourth place Diamond City Swatters at 15-14, who needs a win this afternoon at Fairline Hill Estates to move into a third place tie. That game is in the bottom of the 3rd with Diamond City leading the Yao Guai 3-1. OK. That will do it for me this week. Have a great week!
