The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud eked out a 2-1 win versus the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Hubris Comics Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Derek Green. He was terrific. The win boosted Fort Hagen to 59-41. The Silver Shroud relied on catcher Bixton Moore for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal. "The game of baseball will test you," said Mark Andersen, the Fort Hagen skipper. "This one tested us." CBO Standings, Stats, and Power Rankings BMU Standings Analysis Six of the 10 teams are now set as we head into the final week of the CBO regular season. Taking inventory of the teams left to clinch a spot, Diamond City and Jamaica Plain is a win away and The Slog's magic number is two. The last remaining spot is a probable last-day decision between the Egret Ninjas and FHE Yao Guai. The Ninjas and Yao Guai are battling for the last playoff spot in the SCA with Egret traveling to FHE for the final weekend. Before that, the Ninjas make a trip to Atom (#21), while the Guai battle a tough Jamaica Plain (#10). As we head into the last week of the season, the NCA looks to be the team in power. Nordhagen Beach (#1) currently claims the top spot, doing what it has to do to claim the #1 spot in the NCA with league rival Easy Town (#3) just a game back with the 2nd-best overall record in the CBO. The Boys get a challenge early in the week in facing the Silver Shroud, before facing Finch Farm (#23) for what should be a successful weekend. The Assaultrons get a homestand, too, but they face Starlight (#15) and Salem (#13), two decent and above .500 teams angry to miss out on the playoffs. Fort Hagen (#2) is looking to be a powerhouse team again, rising up to a true challenger role while Concord (#8) would need to make up ground in their postseason debut year. While Goondeighbor (#5) and Vault 81 (#4) are tied for the SCA lead with the Hancocks holding the tiebreaker edge, the Dwellers look to be the team in control right now. Vault 81 also gets Warwick (#18) and Roxbury (#22) both at home in the final week, while the Hancocks travel to Diamond City (#7) and the Cats. Current playoff rankings in the NCA: 1. z-Nordhagen Beach (BL) 2. z-Fort Hagen (IL) 3. z-Easy Town (BL) 4. z-Concord (IL) 5. The Slog (BL) Doubtfully alive: 1. Salem (BL) – 4 GB of wildcard Eliminated: 1. Finch Farm (BL) 2. Sunshine Tidings (IL) 3. Lexington (IL) 4. County Crossing (BL) 5. Abernathy (IL) 6. Starlight (IL) Current playoff rankings in the SCA: 1. x-Goodneighbor (ML) - Wins tiebreaker over Vault 81 (head-to-head) 2. x-Vault 81 (RL) 3. Diamond City (RL) 4. Jamaica Plain (ML) 5. Egret (RL) – Wins tiebreaker over FHE (head-to-head) Realistically alive: 1. FHE (RL) - 0 GB of wildcard 2. Quincy (ML) - 2 GB of wildcard 3. University Point (ML) - 2 GB of wildcard Doubtfully alive: 1. Oberland (RL) - 4 GB of wildcard Eliminated: 1. Roxbury (RL) 2. Atom (ML) 3. Warwick (ML)

August 2300 - BNN Weekly Report – August 30
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and BYDL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 30 August 2300 Last Weekend Equals Thrills Heading into the final three games, there are thrills. In the NCA, Easy Town has taken the lead for the Brotherhood League lead and the top record in the CBO. Fort Hagen has a magic number of 1 with an easier matchup against Starlight than Concord has against Abernathy. The SCA now features four teams tied for the fifth slot in Egret, FHE, Quincy, and University Point. The Deathclaws visit Quincy, while the Ninjas visit the Yao Guai. That means both series are elimination series. If one team sweeps another, they are guaranteed at least a play-in game to the playoffs. Tuesday and Wednesday results below with standings headed into the weekend:

September 2300 - BNN Monthly Report - September 1
BNN Monthly Report Last Month in the CBO, BMU, and BYDL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 September 2300 Players of the Month NCA: Hitter - LF Dan Erb, Concord, .412, 9 HR, 22 RBI, 28 R Pitcher - SP Chet Arthur, Nordhagen Beach, 6-0, 7 GS, 2.49, 43.1 IP, 33 K Rookie - 1B Lannie Tykeson, Easy Town, .356, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 21 R SCA: Hitter - RF Tomas Jones, University Point, .419, 7 HR, 35 RBI, 20 R Pitcher - SP Josh Mustang, Vault 81, 5-1, 2.51 ERA, 46.2 IP, 24 K, 18 BB Rookie - C Jason Watts, Diamond City, .355, 22 H, 5 HR, 18 RBI CA: Hitter - CF Jason Templeman, Outpost Zimonja, .294, 12 HR, 27 RBI, 18 R Pitcher - SP Beau Hamilton, Corvega, 3-0, 5 GS, 1.62 ERA, 7 K MA: Hitter - RF Kern Rifleman, Cabot House, .424, 13 HR, 27 RBI, 19 R Pitcher - SP Ryan Fahrenkrog, Boston Common, 3-0, 4 GS, 2.39 ERA, 26.1 IP, 21 K State of Affairs There are two games left on the regular season, and we know 9 of the 10 teams that will be battling for the Sole Survivor Series. Heading into the final two games, there are also two league titles up for grabs. The Institute League is the simplest to figure out with Fort Hagen (64-42) up two games on Concord (62-44). The Silver Shroud were shut out 7-0 by Starlight (53-53) in their bid to clinch the league title. On the other hand, the Radstags handed Abernathy (53-53) a 10-2 smashing. Neither team will have it easy in a bid to win the league, but Concord is at a disadvantage and likely to be the fourth-seed in the NCA. In the other NCA league, the Brotherhood League, the two top teams are tied. Nordhagen Beach (66-40) edged Finch Farm (33-73) 1-0 to get the upper hand in Game 1. Easy Town (66-40) had a tougher matchup, dropping Game 1 to Salem (55-51) by a score of 4-1. Not only that, but the Witch Hats' final two starters on their season are Roberto Gonzales (10-9, 3.21) and Tony Bertha (14-6, 2.89). The Party Boys face Chad Behr (6-14, 5.57) and Good Company Schiller (7-9, 4.71). The battle for the 5th seed in the SCA is also intriguing with four teams tied for the final spot heading into yesterday's games and an elimination weekend among the four. In the Minutemen League, the University Point Deathclaws (54-52) got the edge in winning their sixth straight, 7-4, over Quincy (53-53). One more loss and the Gunners are eliminated. In the Railroad League, FHE (54-52) got a 6-5 win over Egret (53-53), leaving the Ninjas in must-win mode. In other SCA action, Vault 81 (66-40) still holds a one-game lead over Goodneighbor (65-41) for the #1 seed in the association. Diamond City (60-48) also took a two-game lead for the third seed over Jamaica Plain (58-48) after the Red Rockets suffered an 8-1 loss to Warwick (46-60). Statistical Leaders

September 2300 - BNN Weekly Report – September 1
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and BYDL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 September 2300 NCA Easy Town and Nordhagen Beach both fell in their bid for the Brotherhood League crown, while Fort Hagen made it official as Institute League champions with a 9-4 victory over Starlight. For the Assaultrons and Party Boys, it all comes down to the final game. A Nordhagen Beach win or Easy Town loss gives the league championship to the Boys because of a 7-5 season advantage. SCA With Vault 81's 13-5 thrashing of Roxbury, and Goodneighbor's 8-3 loss at Atom, the Dwellers have now clinched the #1 seed in the playoffs. Diamond City lost, while Jamaica Plain won, meaning the #3 seed is still up for grabs for the right to play the Hancocks. In the battle for the #5 seed, both University Point and FHE clinched their series, meaning that those two teams go into the final game tied with a 55-52 record.

September 2300 - BNN Weekly Report – September 2
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and BYDL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 September 2300 NCA Nordhagen Beach took an 8-5 win over Finch Farm to make a claim on the Brotherhood League title. They officially win the league despite Easy Town's 8-5 win over Salem due to a 7-5 Nordhagen Beach advantage on the season. The rest of the association's results were anticlimactic since they had no bearing on seeding, as the 1-5 setup will be Nordhagen Beach, Fort Hagen, Easy Town, Concord, and The Slog. SCA University Point completed the sweep over Quincy, 13-4, in the early game, earning themselves at least a play-in game for the 5th seed. It ended up being for the seed itself, as FHE fell at home, 6-5, in 10 innings to Egret, ending both the Ninjas and Yao Guai's seasons. Diamond City also won, while Jamaica Plain lost to settle the order in the SCA: Vault 81, Goodneighbor, Diamond City, Jamaica Plain, and University Point.

2300 - CBO Playoffs - NCA: Concord vs The Slog
#4 Concord Radstags (64-44) vs #5 The Slog Ghouls (61-47)
Season Series: Concord 4, The Slog 4 April 8-9 @SLOG: Slog 7-4, Con 7-2 May 29-30 @Con: Slog 5-1, Con 9-2 June 19-20 @Slog: Con 10-3, Slog 9-8 August 28-29 @Con: Quin 6-2, Slog 9-8 Concord Home Page The Slog Home Page Game 1 Matchup Analysis After sniffing the playoffs but ultimately missing out in 2298, the Concord Radstags finally found season-long consistency in 2300, making their first appearance. The Stags have a well-liked manager in Mark Gourdroot who has been a beacon of positive energy throughout this winning season. While the across the board talent is not as good as some of the other teams in the playoffs, the Radstags players fight for their manager each game. Offensively, Concord is a true middle of the pack team, but a lot of that has to do with their one star, Dan Erb. Erb (.359/25/101) won the team Triple Crown. The pitching staff is also middle of the pack, but the bullpen (2.46, 1st in NCA) is much more productive than the starters (4.28, 5th). Chris Radsco (14-9, 3.64) gives the Stags their best pitching chance, while Chopstick McWilliams (5-2, 1.43) and Aaron Still (28 SV, 1.22) help shut down teams late. The Slog has been a regular to the CBO Playoffs, winning it all in 2296 but exiting quickly in 2299. Dick Tricky is in only his second season as manager, but he has already led the team to two postseason appearances. This season, he wants to win. Unlike the average position of Concord in batting and pitching, the Ghouls are an offensive-heavy team. They are third-best in runs scored and tops in stolen bases. No one truly stands out, but SS Lernz Tentsleep (.250/24/78) is probably their best player. The Ghouls pitching was 11th in Starters ERA (5.35) and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (3.02). Second pitcher Gwinnett Southie (11-9, 4.42) had the most success as a starter, while Floatsam DiPasquale (29 SV, 3.08) was their best bullpen pitcher after Jason Woods (2-0, 1.70) went down. Prediction Experience matters, and the Radstags have none. We're picking The Slog to take this one, 2-0.

2300 - CBO Playoffs - SCA: Jamaica Plain vs University Point
#4 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (59-49) vs #5 University Point Deathclaws (56-52)
Season Series: University Point 7, Jamaica Plain 5 April 20-22 @UP: UP 7-1, UP 17-2, UP 11-2 May 4-6 @JP: JP 10-7, JP 12-1, JP 13-9 July 13-15 @JP: JP 10-3, JP 9-2, UP 10-4 August 24-26 @UP: UP 7-5, UP 7-5, UP 8-4 Jamaica Plain Home Page University Point Home Page Game 1 Matchup Analysis Both Jamaica Plain and University Point make their playoff debuts in 2300. The Red Rockets started their franchise history towards the bottom of the Minutemen League, while the Deathclaws had never finished above 4th place in the ML. Jamaica Plain finally started making progress in 2399, finishing in 3rd place, before jumping into 2nd place this season. The Claws had their best finish in 3rd place and qualify thanks to the expanded playoffs model. The Rockets have been more successful as a pitching team this season, with a 3.96 Starters ERA, good for 2nd in the South Charles Association. Both Digger Vadim (14-9, 3.96) and Chris Deathclaw (16-11, 3.23) pitched well. Jamaica Plain was also busy in making trades this season, shoring up their bullpen by acquiring Doug Deel El (25 SV, 4.06), Bus Paula (17 SV, 3.02), and T-Bone Heagy (25 SV, 3.86). On offense, the team does not hit well but can generate runs via the long ball. Six players hit at least 10 home runs, led by 1B Cody Flatt (.267/35/79) and LF Carney Cornseed (.292/25/69). Where the Rockets excel in pitching, the Claws excel more in offense. First in the SCA in every category but home runs (3rd with 155) and sotlen bases (tied for 8th with 56), University Point generates a lot of runs. Their 613 runs (5.7/game) was 21 better than the next best team in the SCA, Goodneighbor. Easy Town was the next best in the CBO with 598. The offense is led by some stars in RF Tomas Jones (.385/35/129), 1B Barker Cocoa (.346/25/77), and CF Jukebox Luttrell (.300/22/58). In all, six players hit at least 15 home runs with five hitting 20 or more. Where the offense excels, the pitching struggles. University Point was 10th in Starters ERA (5.28) with a more respectable 4th in Bullpen ERA (4.12). Every starter will struggle in the playoffs, starting from staff ace Gary Stallworth (9-9, 5.30). Marc Pondsip (26 SV, 3.23) leads an OK bullpen, but UP must outhit its opponents to win. Prediction University Point is the hotter team. Assuming they can take one of the games in Jamaica Plains, they will finish the series at home, winning the series 2 games to 1.

Quite an interesting setup for the playoffs. To focus on the positive: It's nice to see some new faces. To focus on the negative: I'm going to have to of course comment that it's disappointing the Silver Shroud might have some negative momentum right at the end of the season here, but hey, at least they got in.

2300 - CBO Playoffs - NCA: Nordhagen Beach vs The Slog
Updated Playoff Tree
#1 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (67-41) vs #5 The Slog Ghouls (61-47) Season Series: Nordhagen Beach 7, The Slog 5 April 27-29 @NB: NB 5-4, NB 7-2, NB 6-4 June 1-3 @NB: NB 4-3, Slog 10-1, Slog 6-4 June 8-10 @Slog: NB 6-2, Slog 9-8, NB 8-0 August 3-5 @Slog: NB 7-4, Slog 4-1, Slog 5-2 Nordhagen Beach Home Page The Slog Home Page Game 1 Matchup Analysis Other than in-season injuries that slowed the Party Boys down, including a current injury to one of their top hitter, LF Michael Fogcrawler (.292/19/70), Nordhagen Beach has been one of the best teams all season and BNN's pick to win the 2300 Sole Survivor Series. Offense has only been middle of the pack all season, but 1B Dustin Mart (.282/29/101) has been starcaps in the middle of the lineup. Along with some other good-hitting players like C Mike Swift (.353/2/47), CF Ryan Combs (.310/9/37), and RF Jonathan Angelou (.290/17/60), the Boys can compete with anyone. Where the Party Boys dominate, though, is on the mound. Tops in the NCA in runs against (403) with the 2nd-best Starters ERA (3.32) and 4th-best Bullpen ERA (3.10), Nordhagen Beach is good at holding down its opponents' bats. Once-injured but now health Tommy Beach (9-3, 2.30) and Chet Arthur (15-6, 2.71) have been the best 1-2 starters in the league. Julian Shed (6-6, 2.98) has also found success. CL Matt Breakball (29 SV, 2.82) has been a leader in the bullpen with a lot of help from Sia Abber (3-0, 1.45) and Tom Mannequin (5-2, 3.70). Prediction We can guarantee Nordhagen Beach takes Game 1 based on their season series. After that, it will be back and forth. We think the Party Boys will take it, 3 games to 2.

2300 - CBO Playoffs - NCA: Fort Hagen vs Easy Town
#2 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (66-42) vs #3 Easy Town Assaultrons (67-41)
Season Series: Fort Hagen 4, Easy Town 4 April 8-9 @ET: ET 11-10, ET 12-7 May 15-16 @FtH: FtH 4-3, FtH 4-3 June 26-27 @ET: FtH 3-0, FtH 8-4 July 10-11 @FtH: ET 11-4, ET 9-7 Fort Hagen Home Page Easy Town Home Page Game 1 Matchup Analysis It is hard to call a team that has made the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season sneaky good, but if there is any team that may sneak itself to a championship in 2300, it is the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. The Shroud have been both an offensive juggernaut, leading in five offensive categories while finishing 2nd in the NCA in runs scored (590). At the same time, they were 3rd in runs against (444), a CBO-leading +146 run differential, including the 2nd-best Starters ERA (3.49). The offensive star power is well-distributed, with CF Ben Pawlak (.318/23/82) probably their best overall player. LF Andrew Nuka (.295/27/90), SS Well Done Dungan (.358/2/60), and 1B Jim Tiller (.316/11/75) all provide a ton of hits. Fort Hagen is without 2B Mark Miller (.347/0/31), which will be a problem with career BMUer Howard Miracleman (no at bats in the CBO in 2300) taking his place for the playoffs. The pitching is so good that last year's Vim! Pitcher Award winner Mike Cartrette (12-10, 4.01) is going to pitch from the bullpen in the playoffs. In his stead, Derek Green (15-6, 2.73), Brent Hooker (11-9, 3.94), and Matt Hope (14-7, 3.51) will make up the rotation. The bullpen also features two pitchers who combined for 35 saves in 2300, Curtis Thriceshot (18 SV, 3.58) and Gimp Shackelford (17 SV, 2.79, mostly with Oberland). The Silver Shroud's opponents are no slouches, especially when it comes to offense, where the Easy Town Assaultrons finished 2nd in most offensive categories except runs scored (598) where they were #1. Five players finished with a .297 or above average: probable top rookie 1B Lannie Tykeson (.330/22/75), CF Sean Samuels (.328/20/61), LF Jarrett Metalbox (.317/11/75), 2B Carlos Tophat (.307/2/48), and RF Dan Squirrel (.297/15/81). Pitching is not as good for the Assaultrons, which could become their Touch of Ug-Qualtoth. The Trons were 6th in runs allowed, with the 6th-best Starters ERA (4.57) and 3rd-best Bullpen ERA (3.02). The starting rotation is decent but not as good in any spot as the Shroud: Angel Waterdrink (14-9, 4.52), William Radwater (12-8, 4.34), and Smoker Caliman (12-5, 4.38). Easy Town does have a better closer in Aaron Geneva (33 SV, 1.82) and Sheffield Williams (4-3, 3.21) may be the best middle reliever in the CBO. Prediction While we would not doubt this series going in a different direction, we see the Shroud outhitting and outpitching the Trons most of the way. We'll say that Fort Hagen will take this one, 3 games to 1.
