The attached was identified as Jimmy Dykes , 25 Red Sox at source.

The "Red Sox" lettering does not match that of the 1925 uniform.


My initial thought was maybe Phil Todt. Would anyone like to confirm or make an alternate identification. thank you.

It is Cedric Durst.

For anyone who uses the Google Chrome browser, there is a reverse image search on the right-click menu. Select the Search Google for this image option and a new tab will open with other Web locations for the image. This is especially handy for unidentified Conlon images, virtually all of which have been identified, a great many of them (such as Durst) in this very thread.

Another nifty feature of Google Image Search is if you have the search page (Google Images) open in Google Chrome, you can just drag any image onto the search bar and do the same "search by image." This works for both images on the web, and images saved on your hard drive. This drag-and-drop feature does not work when using Internet Explorer, though you can manually point the browser to the image in question. I have no idea about other browsers.

How long have we all been looking for one of these and all of a sudden there are two images - both autographed - up on eBay?

The side view is the same as the '82 Fleer shot but the second view is new to me.

FYI Marshall stopped signing with Topps in the mid-'70s so there was nothing in his vault file newer than Los Angeles.

Appears to be an image of a 1926 or 1927 Washington Senator.


A Leon Riley appeared in the majors in 1944 as 38 year old. If it the same person he would be in his early 20s at the time of this photo. It seems a plausible match.


Anyone like to add any comments?

This is not future Major Leaguer Lee Riley (who just so happens to be NBA Hall of Famer Pat Riley's father). Lee grew up in Nebraska, starting out his career with the Lincoln (NE) Links in 1927. He was in Orange, TX that spring for the Links' spring training camp, then moved with the team to Pueblo, CO in 1928. At the end of the 1928 season he was purchased from the Pueblo club by Connie Mack, but I did not find evidence that Riley went to the A's camp in 1929 and he was back in Pueblo for the 1929 season, where he played through 1931.

While Lee toiled in the midwest and Rockies, local papers covered the exploits of Leon Marshall Riley, a Alexandria (VA) High School graduate who pitched for a semi-pro All-Star team in 1926, then went pro with Norfolk in 1927 & 28. He is almost certainly the player pictured.

The Howard_Lohr photo in the Facepack and on Lohr's Baseball-Reference.com page actually pictures career minor leaguer William Lohr with the 1910 Chillicothe Infants. Below is a confirmed image of Lohr with the 1917 Chester (PA) semi-pro club.

Appears to be a totally different individual from that currently identified as Wiltse in the facepack. The 2 comparable images depicted for Wiltse here seem to confirm this as his true identity.

Does anyone have a photo of Texas Rangers pitcher Michael Kirkman?
He currently is in the news because the Texas Rangers just broke the major league record for players used by one team in a regular season. Previously the record was 59 players, shared by a few teams. Kirkman, had played for Texas in previous seasons spent all this year in the minors until recalled when the rosters expanded. Yesterday, Sept. 2 Kirkman was called on by the Rangers to relieve and became the 60th player used by Texas this season - and the record-setter.

As it turns out, I've discovered that yesterday's starting pitcher, Derek Holland was the 60th (and record setting) player that the Texas Ranges used this season. Reliever, Michael Kirkman was # 61. Photos of Holland and Kirkman would be appreciated.
