The St. Louis River Walkers have signed 31-year-old left-handed relief pitcher Leo Hermosillo to a two-year contract extension.
Both seasons are worth $6 million, but the 2039 season does feature a team option. The Walkers acquired Hermosillo in a July 3 trade with the Chicago G-Men. The G-Men received left-handed relief Keith Kirby and minor-league outfielder Guillermo Sanchez in the deal. In 32 games this season for St. Louis, Hermosillo has gone 1-1 with three saves and a 1.95 ERA in 27.2 innings. He has struck out 36 and posted a 0.87 WHIP. For his career, Hermosillo has pitched 447 games since making the majors in 2029 with Kansas City. He owns a 39-38 record with a 3.13 ERA and 62 saves. Hermosillo pitched in Kansas City until 2036. He spent the 2036 and 2037 seasons in Cleveland, before signing with Chicago in the offseason. |

MBL news: Oct. 3 -- Milwaukee clinches National League North title
Milwaukee may have fell 3-2 in 11 innings to Quad City, but that didn't prevent the Crushers from clinching their first postseason berth since 2036.
The Crushers (90-71) sewed up the NL North crown when Rockford fell 6-3 to Madison. Milwaukee leads the second-place crushers by two games with one contest left in the season. It is the first playoff berth in franchise history for the Crushers. Last edited by rink23; 05-10-2022 at 07:49 PM. |

Walkers news: Oct. 4 -- Louisville 4, St. Louis 3
Record: 91-71, 3rd, 7 GB Springfield

Prior to the ninth, the Sluggers did all their scoring with solo homers off River Walkers starting pitcher Ming Xiang. Chris Ring went deep in both the first, leading off the game, and later in the fifth. Ring finished with 18th homers on the season. Sean Nettles hit his 15th of the campaign in the second making it 2-0. St. Louis scored single runs in the third and fourth. The Walkers tied it in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from Mark Waterson off Kyle Kulig. Former St. Louis pitcher Josh McDonald went the first 4.1 innings for the Sluggers, allowing two runs on seven hits. He walked one and didn't strike out a batter. Frank Handley finished he fifth and worked a scoreless sixth. After that, it was an inning apiece from Joe Wahl, Kulig and Tom Floria. Kulig (6-4) blew the save but got the win.
