Bobw is one of the best! He's a magician with making cards as well as having an arsenal of pics with the best of them...!

In one of his latest offerings he features players who were never pictured in a certain uniform. He uses photoshop to create the missing photo. He shows the original photo, the doctored one, and the associated card that he produced. One of his photos is of Don Larsen with the 1967 Cubs which is one that I know we have been looking for. Look over his samples and see what you think.

Agreed on that point. It's just that the combination of asymmetrical nostrils seems identical. I know scouting was different in those days but I don't think Buzzie Bavasi told his guys "sign all the lefties with asymmetrical nostrils you can find."

New UPdate Uploaded

I regret that I forgot to post notice that I uploaded another 500 new baseball cards for 1956-1973 along with a few new managers and some ballpark images.

Quick note on Bill Haynes

A first baseman (a couple of minor league games at third). First round pick of the White Sox in '67; fifteenth man selected by KC in the '68 expansion draft.

John Young

Not just a two-game first baseman for the 1971 Tigers (though this image is from spring training 1974) but also the founder of RBI, Reviving Baseball In Inner Cities

During his first year in pro ball, Bill Haynes actually played more games at third base than at any other position. But I would agree with you, Merkle, that for the rest of his minor league career, Haynes was definitely a first baseman, and it was my error in not picking that up. This question about his playing position prompted me to try to learn what position he played for the Royals during spring training games. Using on-line historical copies of the Sporting News, I couldn't find his name in Royals' box scores at all for spring games in 1969. For 1972, I only found him once in a spring game for the Royals, and he was a pinch hitter in that case.

I know you wiz kids will get this one. He looks familiar but I can't think of who he is and the #62 jersey number is no help to me.

Mystery brave

I'm not someplace where I can really research this right now, but could it be Brian Asselstine?

Pat Rockett...drafted 1st round by Braves 1973, played with them 76-78...would be my choice...but not 100% sure, comparing to other existing pictures.
