Updates on Youth Leagues
Happy New Year!
I have been spending the last few days updating my universe. It is saved and backed up. Hopefully nothing goes awry, but I am moving on as is. If anything breaks, I hope to be able to fix it or this league will go into a time warp of some sort. Is Ug-Qualtoth good for anything? I did not make uniforms for three of the leagues, but I at least have put together logos for all of the youth leagues as part of the game. One day, I will add unis to the three leagues I did not. Now maybe my draft picks will all be from my feeder leagues. The leagues are as follows: CBO -> Boston Youth Development League (already in game for 2300 season), Cape Cod Youth League (CCYL), and Providence Junior Pro League (PJPL). There are still some traveling teams and independent players out there, but most of the CBO's draft picks should come from the three youth leagues. Nuka League -> Amusement Park Youth League (APYL) Vim! League -> The Maine Youth Leagues (MYL): the Mount Desert Island Four and the Great Diamond Island League. Both teams play only each other until a Maine Series between each league's champion ends the season. The Nuka and Vim! Leagues are able to scout each other's youth leagues and draft any player from any of the three Season Pass Association leagues.

I think I will push forward more quickly for the 2301 season just to make sure my game is not broken. Consider it a bit of a fast forward as a precaution in case anything breaks. Therefore, I will skip on posting the usual off-season stories. And I am going to push past the preseason tournaments without any coverage. For the 2301 season, I will also move through a lot, relying on screenshots rather than features and stories. In time, I will get back to the usual formula.
Time speed up has begun . . .

FWIW I had no issues converting 2 save files from 21 to 22, both a completely fictional league and a "modern start" on 21.... other than the brief moment when I ran out of hard drive space on C:\ because my modern start save file is like 10 GB

2301 CBO Nuka Cup Preseason Tournament
I already messed something up, so I have to give results only since I made the mistake of classifying tournament games as Spring Training. Unfortunately, once the "real" Spring Training began, it erased all previously simmed games. Oh well, I wrote down results of series before scheduling the next games, so I at least have the brackets to share.
There is a "lie" in the tournament results based on the official Spring Training results. It may skew true expectations for the player (Fogcrawler, Thompson stats). BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and BYDL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 30 March 2301 2301 CBO Nuka Cup Preseason Tournament This season, the Nuka Cup Tournament dropped the NWL and instead became a single CBO tournament with six teams in a bracket of each of the top-finishing teams in 2300. Diamond City, Fort Hagen, Vault 81, and Nordhagen Beach were considered hosts in the double-elimination tournament. Additionally, each of the bracket rounds before the championship round featured a three-game series with the team winning two or three games in each round advancing to the next round. In the bracket championships, teams played a four-game series with the winner's bracket team needing to win two or more games. The loser's bracket team had to win three or four games to advance. Following the bracket championships, there was one more double-elimination tournament with the winners of the Diamond City and Nordhagen Beach brackets facing off in the first series and the winners of the Fort Hagen and Vault 81 brackets facing off in the other semifinal series. Round dates were as follows: Round 1: March 1-3 Round 2: March 4-6 Round 3: March 7-9 Round 4: March 10-12 Round 5: March 13-15 Bracket Championships: March 16-19 Semifinal Round: March 21-23 Final Round: March 25-27 Results: Semifinals: Nordhagen Beach 2, University Point 1 Sunshine Tidings 2, Quincy 1 Third Place: University Point 2, Quincy 1 Championship: Nordhagen Beach 3, Sunshine Tidings 0 Analysis Nordhagen Beach continues to look to be the class of the North Charles Association, while Sunshine Tidings manager Ray Pratt's offseason methods may have paid off for his team. The Party Boys now have a death row of starting pitchers with Beachboy Nut, Tommy Beach, Chet Arthur, and Julian Shed. LF Michael Fogcrawler batted .319 with 2 homers and 14 RBI to lead the offense in the full tournament. The Chemists look to have an emerging star in 3B Cy Thompson, the 2298 1st-round pick from the Diamond City Newsboys. While the young Thompson is entering his second full season on the CBO squad, he hit only .210 with 8 home runs and 45 RBI. However, in the tournament, he batted .348 with 3 homers and 9 RBI.

Some good off-season moves from the Boys and now an excellent pre-season. Looking good for their prospects this year. As you said, that rotation must be sending chills around the league!

Top 20 Nordhagen Beach Pitcher Rankings: 1. Beachboy Nut 11. Tommy Beach 18. Chet Arthur (Actually T-12 but reversed in alphabetical order) Top 20 Fort Hagen Pitcher Rankings: 3. Derek Green 8. Brent Hooker 9. Mike Cartrette Based on these rankings, it would appear that the Silver Shroud have the advantage for starters though OOTP ranks the Boys #1. When you start looking at the bullpen, though, then Nordhagen Beach starts to make its mark as a full staff. PAM predicts that the Boys will allow a CBO-low 376 runs (3.48/game), while the Shroud will be third behind Salem with 421 (3.90/game).

2301 CBO Predictions
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 April 2301 Feature: Pam's Picks Opening day is here, and it's time for the illustrious assaultron, P.A.M., has made her picks. Based on her selections shown below, PAM has picked the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys to defeat the Diamond City Swatters for the Sole Survivor Series. Based on her predictions, the following teams will be in the playoffs: North Charles Association 1. Nordhagen Beach 2. Fort Hagen 3. County Crossing 4. Starlight (Tiebreaker over Abernathy) 5. Salem The Party Boys and Silver Shroud are once again predicted to be atop their leagues, with decently easy league titles this season. While both teams are predicted to finish with the same record, PAM gives the slight nod to Nordhagen Beach based on their all-around team talent. Fort Hagen has a much easier league to win, helping to boost their record in 2301. The big surprise pick for PAM is County Crossing. The Bloodbugs finished dead last in the Brotherhood League in their first four seasons of existence before jumping up a spot to 5th place in 2300. In 2301, they have seen their roster building hopefully come around with a good mix of young up and comers and seasoned veterans. On offense, to go along with star catcher Biter Trout, a few other players are expected to emerge as potential stars in the league, including 3B Taygun Topaloglu, and two second-year players in RF Babs Rooth and 1B Ajani Peacock. Their pitching is also expected to be a force with ace SP Gavin Eviritts leading the charge. SP Zach DiGrande and SP Whip Lashley are also expected to have decent 2301 campaigns. The Slog is expected to nosedive to the bottom of the 2301 NCA standings thanks in large part to an injury-riddled offseason that leaves them without ace SP Dan Dozier, supporting SP Jason Woods (leave, not injury), CL Flotsam DiPasquale, and SS Lernz Tentsleep. South Charles Association 1. Diamond City 2. University Point 3. Atom 4. Egret (Tiebreaker over FHE) 5. Goodneighbor Nine teams are predicted to finish .500 or higher in 2301. Diamond City is expected to make its third-straight Sole Survivor Series, although the heavy-hitting Deathclaws are expected to give the Swatters a good run. The one-two combo of RF Tomas Jones and 1B Barker Cocoa gives many SCA pitchers nightmares. However, the Swatters bring a nice array of starting pitcher savvy in X10-44 Mannson, City Moore, and Tyler Powers, as well as their strong closer, Josh Samm. Like the Bloodbugs in the NCA, the Atom Cats are expected to make a leap back to the playoffs for the first time since the inaugural CBO season. CF Earthbound Bussey finally worked his way into a starting position in 2300 and was rewarded for his efforts with a .311/10/48 line. He is expected to lead a talented young lineup that includes SS Jake Doucette, LF Jeremy Schoolboy, 1B Will Ashfire, and C Garrett Machine. Pitching also seems to be a strong suit by OSN ratings, with a four-person staff looking to make waves: Scruffy Taguchi, Pete Pembroke, Jeff Rickashaw, and Deedee Martinson. Taguchi, the former second-overall pick out of Green Future in the 2298 Rookie Draft, was a solid 10-8 with a 4.14 ERA in 27 starts in his rookie campaign in 2300. Warwick is predicted to have the top overall pick in the 2301 draft thanks in large part to a poor scouting department. The Mirelurks may overtake teams like the Bloodbugs and Roxbury for bottom-of-the-barrel teams for quite a while until they can acquire some talent or figure out how to better develop players. Vault 81 takes a somewhat surprising drop out of the playoff picture with PAM predicting a huge falloff in their pitching (expected to be 9th out of 12 in the SCA). The 2299 Nuka-Hitter Award winner and predicted 2300 winner, Starlight's Zeldolph Violet is once again expected to be at the top in the NCA, while University Point 1B Barker Cocoa is expected to take the SCA award. Former CBO MVP Paladin Danse has made the move from the outfield to 1B for Egret. We have no idea how old he really is, but the Institute aging technology lists him as a 35-year-old. The top pitchers predicted for the Vim! Pitcher Award are newly-acquired Beachboy Nut of Nordhagen Beach and also newly-acquired Phlip Wallace of the Deathclaws.

2301 CBO Season Preview
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO by Nat Wright-Kawolski 2 April 2301 Top Players and Prospects CBO's Top Players and Position Strength by Team and by Positions CBO's Top Prospects Analyzing the Top 5 NOT on CBO Opening Day Rosters 1. RF Orcin Cardinal, Poseidon Energy Mongrels (GBRL, Finch Farm) - The #1 overall pick in the 2300 Rookie Draft, Cardinal is expected to be a can-miss prospect to propel the Four Leafs in the future. He has all the tools with his bat to hit for average and power. While he will not flash the top glove, he could throw out his share of runners from RF. He will be a force in his first season in the GBRL. 8. SS Rabbit Forest, Medford Medics (GBRL, Atom) - The Cats' 1st-round pick (3rd overall) in the 2299 Rookie Draft, Forest is still working on his game. Coaches have seen the change, as well as the OSA scouts, expecting Forest to develop exponentially in the GBRL. Forest's future in the CBO is expected to be as a well-rounded batter with an outstanding glove. 9. 3B Donn Mattingley, Big John (GBRL, Roxbury) - Before being traded to the Rad Sox in a blockbuster that brought Beachboy Nut to Nordhagen Beach, Mattingley was expected to be next in line to play 3B for the Party Boys. A heavy-hitting 3B, he did not find his power with Greentop Nursery of the BMU last season but should benefit in developing his swing in the GBRL. 11. SP Whokill Poole, Big John Salvagers (GBRL, Roxbury) - Poole is not entering his 5th season in the Roxbury organization, making some question if he will ever make that leap. This season, the Rad Sox are planning to start Poole in the GBRL to see if he can work more on developing his tools, specifically on his control. He has steadily gotten better each season as an undrafted free agent, but he has not quite been able to surpass some of the other talented pitchers in the Roxbury organization. 12. LF Stu Gains, Boston Common Lead Bellies (BMU, University Point) - Gains is an interesting pick to be the 12th overall prospect in the CBO. Taken in the 4th round of the 2300 Rookie Draft, Gains was efficient for the Boston Common Baby Bellies. He is still in Boston Common to start the 2301 season, this time with the Lead Bellies, but it would probably serve him better to play in the GBRL. With that stated, the Deathclaws have noticed Gains' work ethic and consider him to be a major steal. He can punish bad pitches, and the Claws want to see if he can do that over and over in the minors. The Complete List:

For once, I don't take issue with PAM's predictions. It seems like we're getting some Dynasties in this Dynasty (yo dog).

There were a few random events throughout the offseason that changed the fortune of some teams. The way that Sunshine Tidings played in the Nuka Cup, I thought their offseason boost was overpowered. However, PAM disagrees with that notion, so maybe they were just on a lucky streak in the preseason tourney. The Slog had lots of bad luck in the rolls, including losing two starting pitchers for Fallout events (Dozier being attacked by a Yao Guai and Woods taking a leave). Warwick looks to be just bad. Their inaugural team was the oldest in the CBO. Unfortunately, those players either faded away or got traded for younger players that will not replace them. The Mirelurks are going to be worse off than both Roxbury and County Crossing were in the first five seasons.

The Adamantium had two of their five wins as close contests against Nordhagen Beach, including a 3-2, 14-inning, win on Friday. The Radstags had perhaps the easiest schedule to start, getting bottom feeders in Finch Farm, County Crossing, and The Slog in their undefeated first week. Finally, the Dwellers took two against Jamaica Plain, two against the Mirelurks, and then another at the Red Rockets. As expected, both The Slog and Warwick have struggled, both losing all of their games. The Ghouls lost to the Adamantium, Starlight, and Concord In addition to their losses to Vault 81, the Lurks also dropped games at FHE and versus Diamond City. Also thanks for the new map. I actually thought about bothering you for one, but I didn't want to harp on about maps again so soon after the last time. I mean, I haven't even forgotten what page number the last set of maps are on (it's page 101, like F3's vault btw), so that's how you know it's recent. |
