Don Mattingly (Donnie Baseball) (.307 career B. avg.)

#15 Don Mattingly
Lifetime .307 B. Avg., 2153 hits, 220 HR, 1100 RBI.
Hit over .340 twice. won one batting title, led league in hits twice,
doubles - three times and RBI once. One of most popular Yankees.
Played for Yanks in their lean years (1982-1995) with only one
trip to playoffs, no division titles, several under .500 finishes and one
last place finish. Was often Yankees' lone bright spot in some down times.

I am looking for a lot of players from the 80's. I have found many of them here (you guys are great) but I am still looking for some of them and I am trying to find better pictures of others. Some of them are on the UIN list, some aren't. I need some people in certain years, because faces and uniforms do change. As always, I'd be grateful for any help.

I'll start with some catchers, with teams and years given.
1. Danny Sheaffer (Red Sox 87, Indians 89)
2. Jamie Quirk (White Sox 84, Indians 84, Royals 85, A's 89)
3. Ned Yost (Expos 85) [need better]
4. Mike O'Berry (Expos 85)
5. Chris Bando (Tigers 88, A's 89)
6. Matt Sinatro (A's, 87, 88)
7. John Rabb (Braves, 85)
8. Ron Tingley (Padres, 82) [need better]
9. Ronn Reynolds (Mets, 82, 83)
10. Gil Reyes (Dodgers 83, 84, 85, 87, 88, Expos 89) [need better on the Dodgers]
11. Don Crow (Dodgers 82) [need better]
12. Orlando Mercado (Dodgers 87) [need better]
13. Junior Ortiz (Pirates, 82, 83) [have one good shot, looking for another]
14. Jeff Ransom (Giants 83) [I have him for 81-82, but not in the '83 uniform]
15. Ron Pruitt (Giants 83) [I have him for 82, but not in the '83 uniform]

Thanks a lot in advance.

Obscure player in an uncommon uniform - utility infielder Ron Samford with the Tigers in spring training of 1957 or 1958:

Mack Jones was a kid coming home. He even had his own radio show. But a bad shoulder limited his time in the South, so he went to Montreal where he was even more popular. Died too young.
Menke was the Braves last bonus baby. Versatile, always servicable, he reached all-star status after leaving Atlanta.
Everyone loved Pat Jarvis, enough to elect him DeKalb County sheriff. Too bad he turned out to be a corrupt sleaze that wound up in Federal prison.
Seems like here and elsewhere Marty Keough's '66 Braves image is scarce. Well, here is one, in true color.
Captain Eddie: what can you say? Arrived one year too late, but later the Braves' manager when Aaron broke Ruth's record and later a Hall of Famers in his own right.

Great stuff............I missed series 1
