Series Preview: TOR Blue Jays @ Rogers Centre (2-Games)

We go north of the border for only a couple of games against the Blue Jays.
Troy Tulowitzki, Kevin Pillar and Josh Donaldson, who I might trade for at the deadline, are TOR's main guys.
Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez are their top pitchers.
I think we should win both of these games.
Sale and Kluber get the starts for this short series.

NY METS 12
TOR Blue Jays 3
Rogers Centre

After losing that game to the Marlins on Sunday, the Mets took out their anger on the Blue Jays.
Chris Sale goes 7 and gives up 2 runs on 5 hits with only 3 strikeouts.
But they really didn't need pitching on this day as Bryce Harper (21) and Buster Posey (13) sent a couple of baseballs into the seats.
Nolan Arenado, Posey and Gary Sanchez had 3 hits each tonight in the win.

Happy 4th of July everyone!
Not much fireworks in this game although Corey Kluber did strikeout 11 batters to get his 13th win.
He went 7 and gave up 1 run on 5 hits.
Aroldis Chapman got his 11th save.
Jose Altuve and Buster Posey each had 2 hits in this game.
Giancarlo Stanton was injured running the bases, but he is okay and will be ready for the series against the Rays.
We have the day off tomorrow before heading back to Citi Field.

Series Preview: TB Rays @ Citi Field (3-Games)

Another AL team visits the Big Apple.
This time, its the new look Rays.
Matt Duffy seems to be the man at the plate, but its their pitching that gets them noticed.
Jacob Farla and Chris Archer round a pretty good rotation and Alex Colome is an excellent closer.
I think that this series will be tougher than it looks.
Syndergaard, Kershaw and Strasburg are the aces for the weekend.

TB Rays 2
NY METS 1
Citi Field

A tough loss for us versus the Rays.
When you leave 12 men on base, it becomes very difficult to win.
Noah Syndergaard goes 6 and gives up 1 run on 3 hits.
But it was Max Scherzer who took the loss as he gave up the big HR in the 8th to TB Franklin Gutierrez.
Jose Altuve and Francisco Lindor had 2 hits tonight.
12 men left on base!
Ridiculous! (AI CHEATS!)

We get some payback after yesterday.
Clayton Kershaw goes 8 and gives up 2 runs on 5 hits while netting 7 strikeouts.
Aroldis Chapman gets his 12th save.
Give credit to Freddie Freeman, who had 2 hits today and Aaron Judge.
Both hit HRs.
Freddie his 15th and Aaron his 19th.
It will be up to Strasburg tomorrow to win this series versus TB.

TB Rays 1
NY METS 8

We take the series over the Rays via the long-ball.
Stephen Strasburg had another great outing, giving up only 1 run on 4 hits.
But he didn't need to have one though as the Mets lineup blasted HR after HR.
Twice the Mets went back to back HRs for this game.
HRs: Jose Altuve (10), Giancarlo Stanton (19), Francisco Lindor (8), Gary Sanchez (9), Bryce Harper (22) and Charlie Blackmon (5) which was a pinch hit-HR.
A good all-around game and a fun one to play.

This Week in Baseball---NY METS

Opening up the month of July was a little shaky at 4-2.
But its All-Star month as the Mets will prepare to send a LOT of players to Nationals Park for the Mid-summer classic.
I'm not sure how many players will be selected. but I wouldn't not be surprised if almost the ENTIRE team made the NL squad.

This Week in Baseball---MLB

Lets see what the league looks like:
ALE: BOS now holds a 5 game lead on TOR.
ALC: The Indians and Twins are not giving each other an inch.
ALW: This division stays tight as the LAA, HOU, TEX and OAK are keeping each other close.
NLE: The Mets still lead!
NLC: The CHC are now beginning to pull away here.
NLW: The Dodgers have won 9 straight and still, the Padres and Diamondbacks stay close.

Series Preview: PHI Phillies @ Citi Field (3-Games)

The Phillies are in town for a set of 3 games.
Don't know what to expect from these guys but I do know that they will play hard.
Have to watch out for Rhys Hoskins, who is really coming into his own at the Major League Level.
Cesar Hernandez and Carlos Santana can hit the ball also.
Jake Arrieta is the ace of the club and we will face him tomorrow.
It will be Sale, Kluber and Syndergaard for this series.

I decided it was time to fill out my All-Star Ballot.
Yes, I know, a lot of Mets.
But really, who else can you choose at those positions I voted for?

Chris Sale and PHI Jake Arietta pitch a good game against each other.
In the end though, the Mets get the win behind some HRs from Mike Trout (25) and Jose Altuve (11).
Francisco Lindor had 2 hits in the game.
Sale went 5 innings and only gave up 7 hits.
He ran out of gas early so Ken Giles, Max Scherzer and Kenley Jansen were needed to close the game.
Still, a good win to start an intriguing 3-game set with the Fightin' Phils.
