Three years away from the game because of injury. Doesn't matter who you pull for, you gotta admire this comeback.

Kid is shooting hoops by himself and who pulls up asking if he can play too? Such a cool story. That kid can live off that story the rest of his life.

Here, I found it.
A San Antonio teen was shooting hoops by himself. Then Wemby stopped by to play H.O.R.S.E. Thanks. I am solaced (if that's a word) and inspired.

Yeah, that was it. I guess maybe it wasn't posted by KSAT? I didn't note what channel it was on. I originally found it on reddit. Maybe someone stole it and put it on their own channel to get the clicks and they got found out? My bad.

The only Mets pitcher I remember where you could fit a toilet break (including washing your paws!) between individual pitches.
Remember kids to always wash your paws. Washing your paws is important.

Before I was 10, my 4 favorite baseball players of all time till infinity comes were Gaylord Perry (he was from my hometown), Lou Brock (we shared the same 1st name), Joe Morgan (I loved the way he cocked his elbow in his batting stance) & Jim Rice (he was my mom's favorite cause she thought he was so handsome). All have passed except Rice so I wanted to see what he was doing now.
I'd vaguely, maybe subconsciously, remember hearing something about him saving a kid, but couldn't say I ever heard the details. I can't believe in all the times the media kept bringing up about how bad he was with them, that none of those nimrods ever thought this needed to be repeated. I knew nothing about all this. I mean, I've heard over & over & seen multiple times the moment Rick Monday "saved" a flag from being burned on the field. You'd think I would have come across a tale of a player saving a child at some point. And like I said, I was a big fan. ![]() For those that want to know what happened to the kid, here ya go.

I want to clarify something in what you wrote. I had to follow the link and read the story before I realized "all the times the media kept bringing up about how bad he was with them" meant with the media, not with kids — you mentioned "saving a kid" in the previous sentence. My bad, but conditioned by recent sports figure scandals, I was afraid that is what you meant.
I'm glad to see that wasn't the case. Really, I blame no one for having a bad relationship with sports media people, some of whom are only one step above paparazzi. I couldn't take some of the nonsense, myself. And so, as a result, Jim Rice was on the BBWAA ballot for all of 15 years, finally squeaking into the Hall of Fame in his final year of eligibility. The writers spared the HoF veterans committee from having to do the chore. I had never heard about this before. Maybe if I was a BoSox fan, I would have. It deserves retelling. Thanks for sharing it.
