Managed to pull one out, and the Giants lost two against the Cubs. Boston also beat the Pirates, so we were able to gain ground on both the Pirates and Giants. First game was washed out, and rescheduled for September 10th as part of a doubleheader. So the scheduled nightcap was the only game we could play on the 9th. We couldn't take advantage of the Giants loss, as a result, by losing this game. That is all. CD out.

We split a doubleheader with the Phillies, losing the first game, but winning the second. The player representing my grandfather got the third MLB save of his career, and second of the year, in the second game. He had one in 1933. That is all. CD out.

Won another game, keeping pace with the Giants, who beat the Pirates. Unfortunately, the Cubs beat Boston, so I couldn't gain ground on them as well. After we get done with the Phillies this series, we have to take down the Giants in the next series, or we're definitely done for the year. Looks like I may have to try and manage those games as well, so that our better players get more potential playing time here.

Although it may be too late to catch them with eighteen games left for us and sixteen for them, I'm certainly hoping we can somehow manage to get at least three of the four games we have left against them before the end of the regular season. Pirates need to beat the Giants to increase our chances of catching them, and the Braves and Dodgers need to play spoiler against the Cubs in the next five games as best as they each can. The only teams left in the NL race are the Phillies, Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs, and Giants, from bottom up among those still in the running, with the Cubs half a game back of the Giants.

The Yankees are 16 and a half games up on Cleveland, with a magic number of one to clinch the AL, at 98-40, and the Indians at 81-56. Everyone else is out of the AL race, with Detroit currently in 3rd. The Senators started well, but fell back in the middle of the season. Yankees have been very strong all season long, even since before the All-Star Break. I wouldn't expect their World Series opponent to have much of a good chance to win against them the way they've played all year, actually. Even without Ruth on the postseason roster, they are likely to be quite dangerous in the World Series, I suspect.

We led for most of the game, but the Phillies still found a way to take the lead, and their grand slam cinched the victory for them here. This is likely a major blow to our chances of winning the pennant, of course. Especially seeing as the Giants-Pirates game got rained out, as well. That is all. CD out.

We had our chances, but New York pulls this one out with some key hits and good pitching. This is a crucial loss for us. We only have three more games against them this season, it seems. We're pretty much out of it, unless we get fortunate enough to reel off a long winning streak, which isn't very likely, that will allow us to potentially catch up to the Cubs, Giants, and Pirates easily enough here. Josh Gibson got an inside-the-park home run for us here in this game. And we got another home run as well from Al Lopez.

However, Hank Schumacher wrecked us big-time this game, not only with pitching, but also hitting. Of course, he didn't do it alone, but he was definitely the real player of this game, as far as I'm concerned, even if the game technically named Gibson as it instead. That is all. CD out.

New York has utterly dominated us this year, in terms of wins and losses for head-to-head matchups. We have only one more game this season against them. Looks like we'll have a lot of work to do this offseason and/or hoping other teams in the NL can get stronger to contend with them better, besides the Cubs, of course.

Hopefully we'll be able to pick up some good players in the draft this year, but we probably won't have earlier picks in the various draft rounds, it seems to me. That, and avoid players who are higher injury risks better, if possible and all, as well.

Will write more later, as time permits and all. As for this season, I just basically hope we can somehow finish above .500, at least, if nothing else, before it ends. That is all for this post, then, at least. CD out.

Another day, another win. Unfortunately, we will be eliminated with our next loss or next win by either the Cubs or Giants from a possible berth in the World Series.

We may not get first or second, but I'm still hoping we can somehow catch the Pirates, although that doesn't appear very likely at the moment. We'll have to see how our last series of the year goes for us against them, of course. At the very least, I hope we can somehow manage to get to 78 wins, but I don't hold out much hope for that at this point, to be honest.

Another day, another loss, and we are now unable to make it to the World Series this year, for the Cubs will have at least one more win than we will at the end of the year. They are now in first place by a game over the Giants. Whether that leads to the league title is not yet known, but now we can't catch up to them this year, in any case. If the Giants win again, as I believe they will, the best we can do is third place. But I don't think we're going to get there, because the Pirates are still ahead of us. That is all. CD out.
