The strong performance by Elly De La Cruz and the off-balancing pitching of Nick Martinez propelled the Cincinnati Reds (31-47) to a much needed victory over the visiting Boston Red Sox (44-34).
Cincinnati fans were treated to a solid pitching performance from Nick Martinez (4-7) who permitted 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 in 6 1/3 innings of play; Game Score 54. Reliever Lucas Sims (SV 2) covered the final 2 2/3 innings by scattering 2 hits and 1 wild pitch while striking out 4 in his scoreless appearance. The Reds offense was powered by Elly De La Cruz (3 for 4, 2 Homeruns, 2 Runs, 4 RBI), Jeimer Candelario (2 for 4, Double, Run, RBI), Tyler Stephenson (1 for 3, Double, Run, Walk), and TJ Friedl (2 for 4, 2 Runs). Starter Garrett Whitlock (3-6) was tagged with the loss after serving up 5 earned runs on 10 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5 in 5 innings of play; Game Score 31. Owner's Feedback: Mid-Season Review
Overall, Boston Red Sox owner John Henry seems happy with my performance. The team is playing well and the fan interest is still moving up. While I picked up a former Cy Young Award winner, I have kept Greinke in the minors. I was hoping that would be enough to satisfy the requirement, but it looks like I will need to call him up if I want to meet this goal.

A close game in which the Red Sox simply could not get runners on base. To the dismay of the 33,556 fans in attendance, the visiting Toronto Blue Jays (35-44) topped the Boston Red Sox (44-35) by a 5 to 2 score.
Toronto starter Yusei Kikuchi (5-6) picked up the win by limiting the opposition to just 1 earned run on 2 hits, 3 walks, and 1 wild pitch while striking out 6 in 7 innings of play; Game Score 72. Reliever Chad Green (H 2) was tagged for 1 earned run on 1 hit in his 1 inning of work before handing the ball over to Yimi Garcia (SV 5) to close out the game for a scoreless final inning. At the plate, Bo Bichette (4 for 5, 3 RBI, 2 Stolen Bases), Dalton Varsho (2 for 5, 2 Runs, RBI), and Isiah Kiner-Falefa (1 for 4, Double, Run, RBI, Walk). Taking the loss was Brayan Bello (10-6) who limited the damage to 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8; Game Score 66. Ryne Stanek continues to struggle, as he permitted 2 earned runs on 3 hits and 1 walk in 1 2/3 innings of work, before Justin Slaten (allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 1/3 innings. Boston's limited offense came from Reese McGuire (1 for 3, Homerun, Run, RBI) and Ceddanne Rafaela (1 for 4, Homerun, Run, RBI). Player of the Game: Yusei Kikuchi AL East Standings: 1st Place, 2 1/2 Game Lead

After enjoying the winning streak, the team is now in the midst of a 3-game losing streak. Here the Toronto Blue Jays (36-44) picked up the 3 to 1 win over the Boston Red Sox (44-36).
Blue Jay starter Kevin Gausman (8-3) pitched a fine game, as he had 1 unearned run on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 11 in 8 innings of play; Game Score 80. Reliever Yimi Garcia (SV 6) pitched a scoreless final inning. At the plate, Dalton Varsho (3 for 5, 2 Doubles, 2 Runs), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (2 for 4, Double, 2 RBI), and Davis Schneider (1 for 3, RBI, Hit-by-Pitch). Strikeout Machines
An unusual night in which three (3) pitchers tallied 13+ strikeouts each in their respective games.

Getting swept at home is never fun; especially so after coming off a hot streak. On the day, the Toronto Blue Jays (37-44) topped the Boston Red Sox (44-37) by a 4 to 1 score. The loss drops Boston's lead in the AL East race to just 1/2 game. At the half-way point of the season, and I am very happy with how the team has played. Overall record is solid, have talent at several levels, and good financial flexibility.
As the current 13th ranked prospect in MLB, starter Ricky Tiedemann (2-3) has the makings of something special. In picking up the victory, Tiedemann allowed just 1 earned run on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 1 wild pitch while striking out 7 in 7 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 70. Reliever Chad Green (H 3) kept things in check in his 1/3 innings of work before turning things over to Yimi Garcia (SV 7) who closed out the game. At the plate, Dalton Varsho (3 for 5, 2 Doubles, 2 Runs, RBI), Justin Turner (2 for 4, Run), and Kevin Kiermaier (2 for 5, Double, RBI) played well in the victory. Taking the loss for Boston was Tanner Houck (9-5) who was tagged for 3 earned runs on 9 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman in 7 2/3 innings of work; Game Score 52. Nick Pivetta covered the remaining 1 1/3 of play in which he had 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. The limited offensive production came from Vaughn Grissom (2 for 4, Double, Run) and Jarren Duran (1 for 4, Double). Player of the Game: Ricky Tiedemann AL East Standings: 1st Place, 1/2 Game Lead

Tidwell is Terrific
Mets prospect Blade Tidwell had a very special night in a recent Florida Complex League match-up of the Houston (FCL) Astros Orange and the New York N (FCL) Mets. On the night, Tidwell tossed a No-Hitter in which he issued 2 walks, 1 wild pitch, and 1 hit batter while striking out 18 to finish with a Game Score 103.
