				It's not Firova

Firova was a dark-haired Hispanic with a full mustache when I knew him in Mariners' system. This is he from a Baseball Birthdays image. Last edited by rico43; 04-09-2015 at 06:33 PM. Reason: Restoring a photo |

Not to be deliberately contrary (cuz I don't think it looks like him either, though it is what Topps said), but here is Firova in the Mariners system without a "full mustache". I'd be careful about determining anything from facial hair; it comes, it goes. The mystery player is wearing #54. Hopefully someone has a spring training roster (including invitees, if necessary) from the time. |

				 | Quote: Jim Lemon - Phillies see previous page (page # 1251 - section 25010) Photos of Jim Lemon as a Phillie are not that common. He joined the team about one month into the season (too late to be included in the team yearbook) and he was with the Phils less than 2 months (first week of May to last week of June 1963 and he appeared in about 30 games.). It's a nice color photo also ! Thanks, Cheech! Last edited by KenRaffensberger16; 04-09-2015 at 05:31 PM. | |

				Call him ric wilson

Thanks to an off-line contact, it turns out to be the Mariners' No. 1 pick in 1981, Arizona State's Ric Wilson. Played from 81-86, never made majors. Became a scout and was named the Angels Director of Scouting in 2010. Here he is as a Chatttanooga Lookouts player during their time as a Seattle affiliate. Thanks to all. Love how this community helps one another. Last edited by rico43; 04-09-2015 at 06:46 PM. |

Found two newspaper articles which imply that he was a Mariners non-roster invitee in 1983 and 1984. The San Bernardino Sun of March 19, 1983 reported that the Mariners sent him to their minor league camp along with others being sent down from Seattle. The Santa Cruz Sentinel of March 16, 1984 indicated that he was being optioned to Salt Lake City by the Mariners. I don't have any records of his ever appearing on spring training rosters. |

I'm sure his status as a No. 1 pick put him on Topps' list to be shot. Have found quite a few "non-roster" players of a similar background. Besides that, teams always call up quite a few extra catchers in the spring.

Buried in that new upload is this image, not an unusual uniform (even though he played another 19 years after they traded him) - it just appears they took it when he was about 12 years old.

				Joe Cleary 1945

Baseball-Birthdays correctly points out that the joe_cleary image in the Facepack and on Cleary's B-R.com page actually pictures Ellis Clary. I have replaced it with this confirmed image. Thanks to Baseball-Birthdays for spotting the error!

				Don Bosch (with 1966 Pirates)

...speaking of Mets, I have been desperately searching for Don Bosch photo when he played for Pittsburgh Pirates in 1966. Seems to be nowhere to be found. He was called up in September for the 40-man, as he played for Columbus Jets most of 1966, he played in 3 Games at Pittsburgh, totaling 2 AB. If anyone can find him with the Columbus Jets, that would be just as perfect! I have searched eBay, The Sporting News (back issues), and of course the usual Internet Databases, no find, ouch!! This is the very last player pic I need for a current project, any help in finding this rarity would be so appreciated, thanks out there (in advance)...
