In the midst of a seven-game losing streak, and a stretch of dropping 10 of 11 overall, the St. Louis Cardinals opted to make some changes to their coaching staff.
Out are bench coach David Ross and hitting coach Chase Merkerson.
Ross will be replaced by long-time Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Merkerson's role as hitting coach will be taken over by former Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Todd Dunn.
Ross, 53, joined the team during the 2029 season and helped them to a 28-18 finish and a wild-card berth.
This season, the Cardinals have gone 20-29 including 6-16 in the month of May.
Merkerson's time as hitting coach was not good.
He replaced Bill Mueller just 12 games ago.
In those 12 games, the Cardinals went 2-10 -- including the recent seven-game skid -- and hit a paltry .184.
Dunn, 59, was the hitting coach in Milwaukee from 2026 to 2028 and helped the team earn a pair of wild-card berths.
Roberts, 57, managed the Dodgers for 11 seasons making the playoffs each year.
He won World Series titles in 2020 and 2024.
His overall record was 1,052-629 (.625 winning percentage).
Roberts was named NL manager of the Year in 2016 and 2024.
