Here is all you will ever need of one of the great white whales. I've never seen a big league picture of nine-game pitcher (two, '77 Phillies; seven, '78 Cubs) Manny Seoane and yet here he is in all his Topps glory with both clubs.

Lord knows how deep in a cardboard box these were - I looked for him and he did NOT have a file.

Identifications identified in another book , the Great Encyclopedia of 19th Century baseball are as follows (l-r). It also states waiting to be identified is George Strief.

Floor :- Nicol,x,Latham,TMansell

I attach an alternate 1883 image of Tom Mansell which seems to question the identification, and suggests to me that Mansell is more likely to be player standing 2nd right.

I am also doubtful in respect of the identification of Lewis who seems to have slimmed down from the attached image. It would seem more probable to me that the player identified as Lewis is in fact the aforementioned George Strief, image attached. A better match for Lewis could well be the player seated in the middle.

I would welcome any feedback, support or conflict to the above.

Are there any images available (photos or sketches) of 1922 Phillies pitcher, Tom Sullivan? (His three games in relief that year with the Phillies represent his entire major leagues career.)

PS: 4th player in section 25550 does appear to be J. Klippstein.

Landing randomly on a page (778) from April, 2012, I happened on this question of identifying a mystifying baserunner from a sliding exercise in Yankees Spring Training, 1959. The first baseman is clearly Norm Siebern and the instructor could be Coach Ralph Houk.

And I'll be darned if the slider isn't Rod Kanehl, a non-roster invitee to the Yankee camp and three years later the famous utilityman "Hot Rod" of the infamous '62 Mets. I think this would be the only known photo of him in a Yankee uniform.

We have ID's but about 100 images of the 2,500 in Folder BC, but the single most irritating thing to myself in my lack of IDs for a bunch of Brooklyn/LA Dodgers. Many have been, of course, but in the next week, I want ask board help on these Dodgers.
